23/9/2023 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville

2 Huggle Time (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be given another look for Team Jolly. He was a sharp debut winner at Murray Bridge before racing on the course proper here three weeks ago where on face value, he was terrible, but given how the track ended up playing, forgive and forget the run. Go off the debut win, he’ll prove hard to beat against this lot.

1 Harley’N’Rose (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Holler for Richards/Moyle that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since May 13 when placing in the SA Sires Produce on the Parks track behind Air Assault. 1250m is on the short side for him but if they overdo it in front, look for him to launch over the top. He can win without surprising.

8 The Secret Blend (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an Artie Schiller filly for Chris Bieg that debuted over 900m at Murray Bridge at the midweeks and while she found them a bit sharp, I thought she was far from disgraced in defeat behind Aiyah. Fitter and up in trip are two big ticks…not sure she wins, but can pinch a first four spot.

5 Street Delight (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a break and should just about be ready to go for Phillip Stokes. Condition just gave way fresh behind Suzido before going here two weeks ago where she closed off strongly but couldn’t quite get the win when a narrow second to stablemate Killiako. Think she might want 1400m but this is a moderate race and she has more upside than most.

1 Bulls On Parade (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a nice type for Michael Hickmott. He is three weeks between runs since recording an impressive debut win on the course proper here, giving them a start and a beating, launching late to finish over the top and land some big bets in the process. Off that, 1250m should be fine and with more upside than most, he rates highly.

10 Last War (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. He ran over this track/distance two weeks back where he got back off the speed and found the line okay despite being held late by Killiako. I can’t see him turning the tables but at a big price, he could pinch a first four spot.

4 Wine Barron (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top for me in a pretty strong 64 on paper. Michael Hickmott trained four year old that resumes, having not raced since the Adelaide Guineas during the Autumn when a closing second to impressive winner Party Princess. Moved well in a recent Murray Bridge trial and 1400m first up tells me he’s ready to go. In well after the claim, he’ll do me.

5 Aperitivo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has the Hayes polish and strikes a winnable race. She comes here off a win at Cranbourne where she got the A1 run in transit behind the speed before angling into clear air and in a driving finish, she was too good. Should be able to slide forward comfortably from the wide gate and from there, I think she only runs well.

Fitter and up to 1400m are two big ticks for 2 Jenkins (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Phillip Stokes trained gelding that resumed over 1200m on the course proper here three weeks back where he got back in the run and on a day where up/in was the spot to be, forgive and forget the run behind The Great Baby. Better set up this time around, he appeals.

It’s hard to get away from 7 Connemara Queen (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for Clarken/O’Shea. This mare has won her past two, the latest coming two weeks ago over 1400m here when producing sustained speed from the front, giving nothing else a look in and was quite dominant in the run to the line. This race isn’t much harder so IMO she only has to hold her form to win again.

2 Rialtor (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give them something to chase. He ran a fortnight back at this track/distance when on speed throughout and tried hard but he couldn’t quite finish it off and tired late to finish down the track behind Prince Jofra. He’s a much better horse on firmer footing so a dry deck here, more positive ride, he can take this out.

8 Allusion (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a good record on the Parks track and off a win, he’s in with a shout. The last start resulted in a midweek win at Murray Bridge, getting into a nice spot in transit before peeling wider into clear air and in a driving finish, he was too good. That was his first run in several weeks so with room for improvement, he rates highly.

1 Brave Star (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top but not really a race I want to get involved in. He is four weeks between runs for Phillip Stokes since racing at this track/distance where he seemingly had every chance behind the speed but was no match late for impressive winner Storm Hunter. He tends to race best on the fresh side and overall, the depth here isn’t deep.

4 Cool Magnum (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be given another chance for Hickmott/Riggs. He was a beaten favourite a fortnight back when racing here but IMO it’s a clear forgive given he was nearer the inside, which was clearly the worst part of the track, so forgive and forget he went around. Think if this track is playing more fairly, off prior runs, he’ll take running down.

7 Annihilate (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of I Am Invincible for Chris Bieg that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since July 22 when racing over 1400m here when back off the speed and did plenty wrong in the straight but picked up and was solid to the line when fourth to Son Of Bielski. Not a noted fresh horse, but if they go silly in front, look for him to launch at them late.

4 Chicago Storm (Bet Now:  $SP.00) seems the straight bat option for David Aldridge. He has been super in two runs back from a spell, winning impressively first up before racing here two weeks ago where he was held up at times but was clearly no match for Lord Vladivostok. Despite being a well held second, he did comfortably beat the rest. Hard to beat now he’s hard fit.

8 The Map (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to be in for a good prep. This talented mare resumed over 1250m here a fortnight back where she was back near last in the run early and despite being a 2000m+ mare, I thought she found the line really well in a strong return behind impressive winner Lord Vladivostok. Might want one more and a further rise in trip but off the return, she has to be rated as hard to beat.

7 En Francais (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a quality mare for Jake Stephens that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since the Sunline Stakes at The Valley where she produced an end of prep run when down the track behind Sirileo Miss. Moved well in a recent jumpout at Strathalbyn and although she’ll likely be spotting them a start, she will be strong at the end.

7 Flight Deck (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. That win came three weeks ago over 1800m here where he got into a nice spot just behind the speed before angling into clear air and finished best for an impressive win. 1950m, I think, will be okay, and off last start, is one of the hardest to beat.

10 Vino Decasa Nostra (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to rate as one of the leading contenders. This gelding was a dominant winner at this track/distance a fortnight back, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive display, drawing clear late to win well. This race is much harder but off a win, he’ll take beating.

5 Belmont Avenue (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can run an improved race for Aaron Bain. He ran a few weeks back at this track/distance when attempting to lead throughout but he was one of the first beat and a bit plain late in the piece, running last behind Insulation. Back a fair bit in depth, and I think with a more patient steer, his best is good enough to take this out.

10 Alpha Flight (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has the talent to win but for mine, he has been hard to trust. In saying that, he gets a set up to bounce back big time. He ran two weeks back at this track/distance where he was doing work on speed and looked to be trucking but once asked for the effort, he didn’t find much and was on the plain side. Think if he jumps/runs, gets some level of control, that is his best chance.

8 Lonrodex (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Matty Seyers and deserves a crack at a rise in grade. The last two starts/wins have been narrow but he has put himself on speed, found plenty under pressure and has been strong enough to fend them off and win each time. The racing style will give himself every chance and that style is ideal for the Parks track.

3 Okay To Pay (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has the right sort of racing pattern to give herself every chance. She resumes for Phillip Stokes, having not raced since April 22 at Mornington when producing an end of prep run when down the track behind Fasuto. Gets in well after the claim and can sprint well fresh, so watch the market.

3 Nostryia (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win again and I think he strikes a winnable race here. He has finished runner up his past two, two back being behind Lonrodex before racing a few weeks ago, sitting just off the speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there behind Etienne. Just struggling to put a race away but he’s racing well enough to take out a race like this.

4 Zarace (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is nine years of age but is racing as well as ever it seems like for Ken Sweeney. This gelding ran at this track/distance a fortnight back where he got back off the fast speed and while he didn’t have the finale of Outpost, he found the line well enough in his own right to finish second. Think if he can settle closer in the run, he’ll take beating.

2 Grand Host (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. Matty Seyers trained gelding that was on speed at Mount Gambier last time where he gave a strong kick from the front but couldn’t quite see it through on the testing ground behind Melissa Kate. Much better suited at 1000m and on firmer footing, so I am not dismissing him.

BEST BET: Race Six Number 4 Chicago Storm

NEXT BEST: Race Four Number 7 Connemara Queen

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 10 Alpha Flight
