Race 1. (11:40) Midway (Bm72) 1200m
18 King Charles (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is worth a speck each way in the opener. He has won his past two, firstly at Wagga Riverside before going to Kembla where he found under pressure to fend them off and get the job done in gritty fashion. He’s right down in the weights, good racing style, he’ll do me.
5 Signor Tortoni (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing four weeks ago over 1300m here. He landed near the speed and he tried hard but 1300m at metro level just found him out and he felt the pinch late. Back to 1200m and back to Midway grade, he appeals.
7 Los Padres (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key chance for Mitch Beer after a win on the home deck at Kembla last start where he gave them a start and a beating, getting better as the race went on to win and win well. Good test here but think he can measure up.
Race 2. (12:15) Tab Highway Hcp (C2) 1100m
2 Exit Fee (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Danny Williams, having not raced since July 5 when contesting a Highway at Rosehill and he seemed to have his chance but just struggled late behind Lordster. He’s the best horse in the race IMO and if he’s ready to go, I think he’s the pony to bet on.
8 Xcessive Force (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a daughter of Brutal that resums for Danielle Seib. She hasn’t raced since March 11 when heavily backed at Goulburn and the bets were landed when an impressive winner. Trialled well for the return…could she put her hand up for The Kosciuszko?
16 Xanadu Miss (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is lightly raced but heading in the right direction for Terry Robinson. She ran fourth in the Highway a few weeks back. She got into a decent spot off speed and kept trying to close off but was no match for Without Parallel. 1100m is fine, she can win.
Race 3. (12:50) Gold Coast Turf Club Trophy (Bm78) 2400m
9 Wuddzz (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one of the better swimmers going around and I think he has to be the play here with the conditions. He ran over 2100m at Sandown last start and on face value, just a run, but the race shape was clearly not to his liking so for mine, he was a total forgive. Swims, T Clark on, so I suspect will be ridden with more intent…only runs well.
1 Juja Kibo (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing like he will eat up 2400m. He has won his past two, the latest being at Rosehill over 2000m when lapping up the bottomless deck and in a driving go, finished best. Heading in the right direction, he has to be respected.
8 Funambulist (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. That win came at the midweeks at Warwick Farm where he wasn’t 100% happy on the bog but knuckled down with purpose late to win. His confidence is up, he is a first four threat.
Race 4. (13:25) Jersey Day Andrew Wisemantel (Bm78) 1200m
6 Iron Man (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is finding it hard to win but that said, he is racing in solid form. He tried his guts out over 1200m a few weeks back but just couldn’t quite finish the job when second to Yoshinobu. He’ll get off speed but be quite strong at the end.
10 Harry’s Bar (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was fractious in the barriers last Wednesday on the Kenso and was scratched. That followed a strong Midway win at Rosehill and she looked to take no harm from that barrier incident based on how sharp she looked in a trial win at Moruya on Sunday. Hard to beat.
4 The Great Houdini (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes through the Yoshinobu race mentioned above. He got back off speed and kept finding the line but was never really a winning threat. He’ll spot them a start again but will be dangerous at odds if the inside gate can be used to advantage.
Race 5. (14:00) Premier's Cup 2000m
2 Saltcoats (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be rated highly for Chris Waller after the Prelude win last Wednesday where he made a mess of them and was quite impressive in the run to the line. He has found winning form, 2000m is ideal, hard fit…appeals as one of the key chances.
7 Nellie Leylax (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key threat. He ran second a fortnight back at The Valley after leading and he gave a strong kick from the front but just felt the pinch late in the piece behind impressive winner Relentless Voyager. Good racing style, likes wet ground, dangerous.
10 Good Banter (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is five weeks between runs since racing over 2400m at Rosehill where she got off speed and kept finding the line in defeat when second to Knight’s Armour. She should be strong at 2000m and has the hard fitness under the belt.
Race 6. (14:35) Silver Shadow Stakes 1200m
I think class can get 1 Within The Law (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) home. She was an iron filly as a juvenile, going right through the Summer/Autumn and was rarely far away. She should be quite strong late at the end of 1200m, maps to stalk the speed and be strong at the end.
3 Savvy Hallie (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to have returned super and is one of the hardest to beat after a first up win at Newcastle last Thursday where she contested a 900m maiden. She was a good thing on paper and duly saluted to win and win well. Confident she measures up.
7 Wootton Lass (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a talented filly for John Sargent that resumes. She hasn’t raced since The Championships in the Autumn when down the track in the Percy Sykes. Been given a good break and her trial work to get ready has been very good, so watch the market.
Race 7. (15:15) Toy Show Quality 1100m
It is no secret that I am seat 1A of the 4 Autumn Glow (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) aka Baby Winx fan club. What she has done in her career to date, it’s been a bonus because she has appeared as if she has improvement and filling out to do. This prep looks the one where she has filled out and her trials…my goodness she has looked good. She’ll make a big statement here I suspect.
I think there is one at a massive price here. 11 Imposant (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) for Kris Lees. She is first up but her two trials have been outstanding, the latest coming on Monday where she was under such a good hold. She is on the minimum, she swims, strong late…great each way speck.
10 Bonita Queen (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a short course mare for Bjorn Baker that resumes. She hasn’t raced since Feb 22 at Rosehill when leading and giving a decent kick from the front but felt the pinch late when fourth to Boston Rocks. She does seem to fly early on in the prep and her trial work indicates she’s ready to rock and roll first up.
Race 8. (15:50) Winx Stakes 1400m
I am a bit surprised there is talk that 9 Via Sistina (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) isn’t here to play, not wound up etc etc…it’s a Group l that Chris Waller loves to win, this mare swims and her trials indicate she is humming, the latest here when a closing second to Vauban. Cox Plate is the GF, but the way she has trialled, I am saying the intent is clear to keep the picket fence going and win another major.
2 Ceolwulf (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has returned very well off the trials. He will be better suited over further but his recent Warwick Farm trial, he closed strongly from off the speed when second to stablemate Private Eye, who bolted up last Saturday in the PB Lawrence, so the form reads well. Must for exotics.
5 Lindermann (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is flying for Chris Waller and rarely runs poorly fresh. He has had two trials to get ready for the return, the latest coming on Monday at Canterbury when running third and moved very nicely I thought, under a hold throughout. He’ll land near the speed and tough it out strongly.
Race 9. (16:30) Show County Quality 1200m
I want to speck a swimmer, 10 Bandi’s Boy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00). It’s been a little while, but Danny Williams has been to the burger shop and his stable is humming. This guy ran super in a hot race won by King Of Roseau down the Flemington straight. Like him back on a wet deck, hard fit, 1200m is fine…seems a big price.
5 General Salute (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here off a mini freshen up, his resumption being in the Healy Stakes where he was one of the runs of the meeting in defeat given the pattern when third to Metalart. His tick over trial was a good piece of work and he should be strong at the end.
8 Romeo’s Choice (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is flying for Richard Litt and is one of the key chances after two wins to start the prep, the latest coming at Rosehill several weeks ago when giving them a start and a beating to win quite impressively. Good test here against likely types, but confident he measures up.
Race 10. (17:05) 50Th Anniversary Mile (Bm78) 1600m
15 Island Dream (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a mare heading in the right direction for Chris Waller. She won at the midweeks at Canterbury where she got the sweet sit in behind before angling clear and knuckled down with purpose late to win and win well. Rises in grade/depth, but confident she can handle it.
5 Glad You Think So (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since a win at Randwick when winning a Midway, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive performance. Good test here rising to 78 grade, but he’s progressive and is in winning form.
3 Louisville (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should be at peak fitness. He ran behind Oh Diamond Lil over this track/distance four weeks back where he struggled and was never a factor, but he was only second up so he’s better for the run, he can run an improved race.
