23/7/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Randwick, Winter Challenge day

3 Stonecoat (Bet Now: $3.40 TOP ODDS) is hard to beat. GaiBott trained colt that debuted over 1100m at Scone where he was on speed and what I liked is that when he was asked for an effort late, the response was instant and he dashed clear to win and win impressivley. Confident he can measure up.

2 True Crime (Bet Now: $2.10 TOP ODDS) is a key threat, and I dare say the only threat. He ran two weeks ago over 1100m here where he was near the speed throughout and battled away well when second to dominant winner Midnight In Tokyo. 1200m is a slight query, but he has the runs on the board.

6 Mutafiq (Bet Now: $11.00 TOP ODDS) deserves another look. Team Hawkes juvenile that debuted in the Contemporary race where she was well tried at odds, but despite getting held up at various stages, she didn’t really fire. Sent back to the trials and looked sharp, so keen to see how she goes.

I’m pretty keen on 8 Lord Desanimaux (Bet Now: $7.00 TOP ODDS). Terry Robinson trained gelding that resumed in a Highway here two weeks ago where Collett brought him right towards the outside fence and he made up good ground late behind I’ve Bean Tryin’, and really, given how the track played, his effort was enormous. Fitter, up in trip, I think he’ll only run well.

17 Dubai Centre (Bet Now: $15.00 TOP ODDS) has come back in really good order for John Rolfe. Loved the way he knuckled down to win over 1500m at Albury last start, lumping 61kg in the process and finishing best in a driving go. That was his first look at the distance range and he passed with flying colours so I don’t see the mile being an issue and he likes wet ground.

15 Zarafah (Bet Now: $26.00 TOP ODDS) is a definite winning chance. Team Longmire trained mare that resumed at Goulburn over 1400m in a four horse and for a mare beter suited over further, I thought she ran a very credible race in defeat when third to Flower Moon, a handy mare, so the form reads well, like her up in trip and she should be strong at the end.

8 Monfelicity (Bet Now: $5.50 TOP ODDS) is a David Payne trained mare who has more upside than most engaged here. Big win from her first up in a Midway here two weeks ago, surging hard late between runners and attacking the line the hard the final few strides to get up and win. Staying at the mile is the knock, but she’ll be strong late.

4 Cruel Summer (Bet Now: $4.60 TOP ODDS) is bursting to win at Saturday metro level for Paul Perry. He has been beaten a lip in a couple of Midways, the latest being a fortnight back where he was hailed as the winner but was nabbed on the peg by Monfelicity. Knocking on the door and commands respect.

10 Sprout Wings (Bet Now: $10.00 TOP ODDS) is several weeks between runs for Matty Smith since since racing over 1900m at Canterbury where she had the suck run behind the speed and tried hard, but couldn’t quite get there when fourth to Tudor Prince, who has won again since. Tick over trial was good and she’ll be strong late.

5 Easy Single (Bet Now: $2.25 TOP ODDS) can bounce back. His last couple of runs have come here, two back beaten a lip by Siege before racing here two weeks ago where he had a suck run behind Conscript and tried hard, but that horse got control in front and was too good. This guy is holding his form and with weight relief, is hard to beat.

3 Enchanted Heart (Bet Now: $3.90) does boast a wet track win over Lost And Running, so that clearly reads well for this. Her last couple of runs have come on firm decks but she clearly likes getting her feet wet, so she gets conditions to suit here and can easily bounce back into the winners list.

2 Rocketing By (Bet Now: $4.60 TOP ODDS) is a talented son of So You Think resuming for David Pfieffer and his best is clearly good enough. He hasn’t raced since the Spring when down the track in the Sydney Stakes on Everest Day behind Big Parade. He handles all conditions and with two trials under the belt, I’d suggest he’s ready to go.

6 Marakopa (Bet Now: $5.50) has the big win at this track/distance on an absolute bog from three back so with that in mind, he is on top. He ran in the Stayers Cup four weeks ago over 2600m here and was game in defeat behind an in form Shameless Miss. He seemingly has a liking for getting his toe into the ground at Randwick, he’s fit and in form.

8 The Milkybar Kid (Bet Now: $2.50) is a progressive three year old for the GaiBott stable, but he’s short enough. He was hopeless on the heavy ground last Wednesday at Warwick Farm but in the end, class got him home. Clearly harder here, and while he is heading in the right direction, he’s short enough.

3 Oceanic Flash (Bet Now: $13.00) is three weeks between runs for the Ryan/Alexiou camp since racing at Rosehill on an absolute bog where he looked all over a winner when he trucked up behind them. He got clear and was hailed as the winner but was nabbed late. If that run hasn’t busted him, he can win.

3 Kalino (Bet Now: $2.10) has found winning form and I think he can hold it. Jury was out on him after a couple of plain runs to start the prep, which followed an electric trial win, but he bounced back to his best four weeks ago with a dominant win over the mile here, albeit the form is a tad suspect. He has fresh legs, he’s found winning form, hard to beat.

4 Deep Romance (Bet Now: $4.60) is a key threat. They rode her too warm two back at Warwick Farm where she finished down the track. She then went to Rosehill where they rode her cold and the end result was a strong finale from the back to overhaul Dehorned Unicorn and win. If she can repeat that effort here, she’s clearly in the mix.

11 Flying Step (Bet Now: $8.50) steps up to 1500m and rises in grade/depth, but she is a filly with talent. She ran at the midweeks at Canterbury last time and chased strongly in the straight, just missing out on the win when second to Morioka. She races like 1500m will be okay and gets the best wet track rider in the business IMO in Jason Collett.

2 Waihaha Falls (Bet Now: $1.55) to make it 3/3 this time in. He has come back a much better horse and is on the way to becoming Stakes class. Both starts/wins this time in have come over 1200m here, the latest being two weeks ago where he gave his rivals an absolute spanking and won with something in reserve. He can keep winning again.

3 Titanium Power (Bet Now: $4.60) will jump on the bunny and run a bold race. He did that here a fortnight back here and tried his guts out, but was no match late for Cross Talk, who I think is Stakes class. Should find the front comfortably and if the track is mad leader bias, he’ll take catching.

1 Poetic Chamrer (Bet Now: $16.00) is a very consistent animal for Team Snowden that is rarely far away. He resumed here a fortnight back behind Waihaha Falls and while he was never a winning threat, I liked the way he finished his race off behind the in form O’Shea galloper. Has good upside and a rise to 1300m suits.

14 Snippy Fox (Bet Now: $9.00) looks hard to beat here. Joe Pride trained mare who has had two runs back from a spell, the latest being behind Waihaha Falls two weeks ago when a game second, albeit five lengths from the winner. She does no work from the gate and has good upside to come.

7 Casino Kid (Bet Now: $18.00) has returned in really good order for Jan Bowen. Just one soft trial leading into his return two weeks ago here over 1100m and was very good in defeat against the race/track shape behind Conscript. He might want one more, but he’s very genuine and clearly has more upside.

10 Monegal (Bet Now: $26.00) is a ripper for Theresa Bateup. Was over a month between runs when racing in the Winter Stakes two weeks ago and I thought did a good job from off the speed behind the very much in form Taksu. She has upside to come, like her up in trip and can settle closer in the run.

1 Conscript (Bet Now: $2.25) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. He was a real eye catcher first up behind the enigma that is Hulk. He then bounced on the bunny here a fortnight back, he got control and the race was over before the turn in a dominant display. Hard to beat once again.

3 Nerone (Bet Now: $4.80) has found winning form and he can certainly hold it. He ran last Wednesday at Sandown and lapped up the bog, tracking up with purpose out wide under Willow before letting down best and drawing clear late to win nicely. Harder here, but he’s found winning form and is hard to beat.

9 Jal Lei (Bet Now: $4.20) is a key chance for John O’Shea. This filly was somewhat lucklessw fresh at Warwick Farm before going to the Kenso track where she looked all over a winner when she loomed but had to settle for a narrow second to Dalaalaat. Third up, hard fit, she’s close to D-Day.

Come race ten on a heavy 10, this track will be a nightmare, so I want to be on something that will be strong late and 8 Marchioness (Bet Now: $7.50) will indeed be strong late. Former Kiwi that made her Australian debut here behind Lady Brook and while she was never a factor, she was good late and clocked good late splits. Fitter, up in trip, I think she’s a solid each way gamble in the get out.

4 Lady Brook (Bet Now: $3.70) is another prime example of Joe Pride and tried horses, the two going hand in hand. Narrow second fresh at Gosford before an impressive win here two weeks ago when on speed and finding plenty under pressure to score. She’s got upside to come and is hard to beat.

9 Sunrise Ruby (Bet Now: $3.60) is in for a good prep. Mitch Beer trained mare that resumed here a fortnight back where she sat off the speed before finding clear air and finishing off with purpose when a narrow second to Lady Brook, who had the right run on speed and was too good, just. Fitter, up to 1200m, she appeals.

NEXT BEST: Race Two Number 8 Lord Desanimaux

LONG SHOT: Race Ten Number 8 Marchioness
