Race 1. (18:00) Ranvet Mdn Hcp 1100
I am very interested in 4 Gatsby’s (Bet Now: $1.75), on debut for Chris Waller. I thought he trialled up really well behind Espionage recently and then a subsequent trial, he got back, peeled wide and won the trial under a hold, with plenty up the sleeve. Stable had a very quiet start with their juveniles but they are slowly starting to hum and I reckon this guy has an engine under the hood.
7 Roselyn’s Star (Bet Now: $5.50) is a John O’Shea trained colt that is on debut. This guy has had two trials in readiness for start one, the first one being in the Spring before a spell. Given a break and went very nicely in a trial win last week at Warwick Farm. Tricky gate, but can press forward and take beating against these.
3 Enhance (Bet Now: $6.50) is an improver for Ryan/Alexiou. This colt debuted a few weeks back in the Canonbury where he did work near the speed and that early burn just told late in the piece, tiring late behind Prost. Maps to get a much better run in transit and overall, this is a much weaker race.
Race 2. (18:30) The Agency Real Estate (Bm64) 1900
Pretty keen here on 4 Sunlord (Bet Now: $2.80). He has been strong in two runs this time in for John O’Shea, really catching the eye fresh on the Kenso before going to Newcastle where he was ridden with more intent and duly saluted, bolting up to win and win well. Nash on from a plum gate and hard fit, up to 1900m, I think he’s the one with upside.
1 Don Pedro (Bet Now: $3.40) is a slight query at 1900m but he’s in ripping form for Bjorn Baker. He won over 1550m here a fortnight back, leading throughout and he gapped his rivals in a dominant display. The query is 1900m but with a cheap run on speed likely on the cards, he’ll take beating.
6 The Professor (Bet Now: $6.50) is a knockout hope for Richard Collett. He ran over 1880m at Newcastle last start where he got a fair way out of his ground and did make up solid headway but couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Mornington Pier. Third up, hard fit, has the grounding and will be strong at the end.
Race 3. (19:00) Toyota Forklifts (Bm64) 1200
I like 8 Countyourblessings (Bet Now: $5.50). John O’Shea trained galloper that has been super in two runs back from a spell. Let down like a nice horse to win fresh at Goulburn before going to Hawkesbury last week where I thought Chad was asleep and he took too long to get going, bloused late by Our Gold Hope. Back to 1200m I find interesting but he’ll press forward, gets Nash and Blinkers.
11 Merchant Lady (Bet Now: $3.50) is a filly that I think has an engine under the hood. She was a short priced favourite when debuting at Gosford and she was impressive, giving them a start and a beating in a sharp display at start one. That was 1000m and off that effort, 1200m is no issue and for mine, she’ll take beating.
3 Groundrush (Bet Now: $12.00) is a knockout hope for Team Hawkes. He was stiff here fresh behind Turned Down before going to Newcastle where he got back to near last but came with a well timed run to launch late and get the win. Tricky gate but has versatility re racing pattern and third up, he should be hard fit.
Race 4. (19:30) James Squire (Bm72) 1250
8 Seton Hall (Bet Now: $2.40) is heading in the right direction for Team Hawkes. This guy is three weeks between runs since an impressive win at this track/distance, where he got back, peeled wide and let down with purpose to score. He has got strong form lines around him, heading in the right direction and maps to get an ideal run in transit.
4 Rhythm Of Love (Bet Now: $2.60) is a son of Grunt that resumes for John O’Shea and is one of the key chances. This guy is first up, having not raced since October 18 when wide no cover on the Kenso and the hard run told late in the piece. He has looked strong in trial, maps perfect, gets Nash…very likeable.
1 Little Beginnings (Bet Now: $20.00) is capable with his best. Kris Lees trained gelding that comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since Jan 10 when producing a howler when down the track behind Atlantic Ocean. Tick over trial last week at Scone was strong and he does have a touch of quality about him when right.
Race 5. (20:00) Schweppes (Bm78) 1900
3 Morning Sun (Bet Now: $3.10) is a good horse I feel but he is getting towards D-Day for the prep. He was excellent fresh at Warwick Farm before going to Rosehill where they rode near the speed and he tried his guts out but couldn’t quite get there when third to Kettle Hill. Hard fit, Nash on, ideal map…surely rates as one of the hardest to beat.
5 Invincible Legend (Bet Now: $14.00) is heading in the right direction for Les Bridge. Did more than enough two back behind impressive winner and the very much in form Amor Victorious. He then dropped back to Midway grade two weeks ago and despite a deceptive finish, he got the photo and the win. He’s racing really well and is hard to beat once again.
6 Principessa (Bet Now: $6.00) is a definite improver for Joe Pride. This mare has been solid this time in without setting the world on fire but the big keys for her are a rise in trip, a soft gate and the big tick is Blinkers back on to sharpen her up. She will run a much improved race and a win won’t shock.
Race 6. (20:30) Precise Air (Bm72) 1200
5 Flying Shelly (Bet Now: $6.50) is knocking on the door to win for Bjorn Baker. She has been runner up in both runs this time in, run down fresh at Wyong before going to Gosford where she attempted to lead throughout but was nabbed late by Leggy Point. The end of 1200m is the query but if the track is playing up/in and if she gets control, she’ll take beating.
7 Tycoon Jenny (Bet Now: $3.40) can improve for GaiBott. This mare was a noted drifter in betting when resuming at Warwick Farm and ran accordingly after sitting on speed, just feeling the pinch late in the piece behind Super Bright. Regan takes over, she lands on speed and better for the run under the belt, she can bounce back.
1 Byron Belle (Bet Now: $9.00) is a quality mare for John Sargent that resumes. This hasn’t raced since the Spring when outclassed and down the track in the Shannon at Rosehill behind Cepheus. Trial work to get ready has been strong and she does have a touch of quality about her so watch the market and see what it does.
Race 7. (21:00) Canterbury Night Sprint Series Final (Bm78) 1100
1 Per Inaway (Bet Now: $12.00) seems a big price here I feel. Kris Lees trained mare that resumes, having not raced since the Just Now during the Brisbane Summer Carnival when far from disgraced in defeat behind Chatty Lady. The trial work has been more than encouraging to my eye and when the Blinkers have been applied, they have had an instant impact. Big price but I think despite the wide gate, she’s worth a throw at the stumps at odds.
5 Dipsy Doodle (Bet Now: $SP.00) should take beating here for James Cummings. This filly took on seasoned campaigners when resuming three weeks ago over 1200m at Rosehill. She attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick but couldn’t quite see it through when third to Our Kobison. Back to 1100m, back in grade/depth, she’ll take beating.
11 French Marine (Bet Now: $9.50) is in with a shout for Kris Lees. He chased a strong speed at Newcastle last time but credit to him, he kept chasing and was very good in defeat when second to Smart And Dapper. Gets massive weight relief, maps to do no work and is a proven metro performer so don’t dismiss her.
Race 8. (21:30) Tab (Bm72) 1550
6 Infinitive (Bet Now: $SP.00) should prove hard to beat in the get out. Chris Waller trained mare that has been strong in two runs back from a spell, running a narrow second fresh at Warwick Farm before going to Randwick where she got held up at times but got clear late and found the line well enough in defeat behind Ceerseven. Hard fit, ideal map, J Mac on…she appeals.
7 The Years (Bet Now: $4.20) should appreciate a rise in trip for GaiBott. This guy resumed a fortnight back over 1250m here where he lobbed outside stablemate Les Vampires. He tried his guts out and kept finding the line but was no match late for the stablemate. Like him up in trip, should find the front and prove hard to run down.
5 Amati (Bet Now: $4.50) is knocking on the door for Chris Waller. She is a tick under two weeks between runs since racing over the mile at Randwick where she got into a dream spot behind the speed before angling clear and she tried hard but had no answers late for Ceerseven. Maps perfect, hard fit…rates highly.
