Race 1. (13:13) Vale A 'Jock' Gollogoly (Bm78) 2200m
3 Tapildoodledo (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top. This guy was off a mini break when racing over 2000m at Doomben three weeks ago where he got a fair way out of his ground and did make up solid headway but was never really a threat behind Knight’s Choice. If he can use the inside gate and settle much closer in the run, he has the staying prowess to prove strongest late.
5 I Am The Empire (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for Annabel Neasham. This guy attempted to lead throughout here two weeks ago and he did give a mini kick but I don’t think leading is his caper, tiring to finish fourth behind the in form Kureder. I reckon with a more conservative steer, a bunny to chase, he will be more effective and can certainly take this out.
4 Southern Stock (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an improver at odds for Chris Munce. He ran three weeks back at Doomben where he got back to near last in the run and did make up some ground but was still a fair way off the pace when down the track behind Knight’s Choice. 2200m should be fine and he does have an element of class on his side.
Race 2. (13:48) Girls Day Out On Sale Now-Bm70 1600m
15 Ultimate Outcome (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top but not really a race I want to get involved in. Stuart Kendrick trained gelding that is racing like a rise to the mile will suit. His last few runs have come over 1400m, the latest on the home deck at the Sunny Coast when far from disgraced in defeat behind Crazy Brave after getting back. Hard to beat if he can use the inside gate and settle closer.
4 Tyresa (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a capable mare with her best. Kelly Schweida trains this mare, who ran in the Brave Maso race from a fortnight back where she got back to near last in the run and made up minimal headway, finishing down the track, beaten over ten lengths. She gets back up in trip and that was her first run in four weeks so you’d like to think she has room for improvement.
8 Tuhinga (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one of the leading contenders for John Thomas. This guy ran a fortnight back over 1500m here and closed off strongly from off the speed but he didn’t quite get the win when a narrow second to Brave Maso. 1600m should be fine for him and he is just about in career best form. Key winning threat for mine.
Race 3. (14:23) Ladbrokes City To Surf Plate 1600m
5 Trifling (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing like 1600m will suit. Helen Page trained filly that ran over 1400m here two weeks back where she was just off the speed and took a while to wind into her work but she was pretty good late behind Weigall Tiger. She has been a bit on the one paced side in recent starts so that is why I do feel 1600m suits and I think she can win.
1 Weigall Tiger (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a very promising three year old for Kelly Schweida that is looking to make it five wins on the bounce. He put together three sharp wins before having a mini break and racing two weeks ago over 1400m here where he was just as impressive, drawing clear to win and win well. He’s got room for improvement, the extra 200m should be fine…looks extremely hard to beat.
3 Victory Win (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is dangerous for Annabel Neasham. He ran in the Weigall Tiger race from two weeks back where he got back to near last in the run and while he did make up good ground, clocking good late splits, he was never a winning factor. He can settle much closer in the run this time around and I do think 1600m will be fine for him.
Race 4. (14:58) Xxxx Hcp 1000m
3 Highbar (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) for me. Joshua King trains this very promising three year old that resumes. He had two starts in his first prep, winning them both, the second start seeing him scrape in over 1200m. I think short course racing might be his go and the debut win was electric and that of a good horse. He looks a good horse and I think he’ll be hard to beat against this lot.
6 Bossed Up (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for Tony Gollan. Market wanted him with confidence when resuming over 1000m at the Sunny Coast and despite a few nervous moments in the run, class came to the fore and he was strong to the line, clocking good late splits in a return win. Showed promise as a juvenile and looks to have come back in good order. Hard to beat against these I’d suggest.
8 She’s A Rogue (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be given another look. She ran three weeks back in the Mode Stakes at Doomben when wide no cover throughout over the 1200m and tired late to finish down the track behind West If Dalby. She looks a 1000m horse so back to that trip here is ideal and with a more economical run in transit, she can run an improved race.
Race 5. (15:33) Brc Membership Plus (Bm78) 1820m
9 Clyde (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) can run a much improved race. He ran two weeks back in the Brave Maso race when wide no cover on speed throughout and had to tire, which he did, beaten just under 11 lengths but it was a clear forgive and forget run. Think with a more economical run in transit, he’ll run much better and a win wouldn’t shock at all.
3 Fire King (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an absolute beauty for Olivia Cairns. He is three weeks between runs since a dominant win at Doomben in the Country Cups Final where he was smashed in betting late and under a lovely steer from Sewell, he gapped them late when eventually clear. Off that, 1800m is no issue, likewise the bigger track, and he’s just a winner.
16 Dhakuri (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was knocking on the door deluxe to win a race and that win came here last Wednesday at this trip, settling just off the speed before coming with a well timed run and he got better as the race went on to win and win well. Good test here in a solid 78, but he’s a proven Saturday metro performer and off a win, commands respect.
Race 6. (16:12) B.J. Mclachlan Stakes 1200m
1 Storm Boy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the one to beat, quite clearly. GaiBott trains this colt, who debuted over 1100m at Rosehill where he produced sustained speed from the front, giving nothing else a look in to win and win quite comfortably. He is currently favourite for the Magic Millions and you’d think a win here will all but assure he will be favourite when gates open at the Gold Coast.
All you can do is win and that is what 2 Astapor (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has done in two career outings for Clinton Taylor. Debuted with a sharp victory at Rockhampton before a dominant display at Doomben when near the speed before being clicked up on the turn and away he went for a great victory. 1200m should be fine and is a key threat.
6 Mishani Aloha (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is probably the pick of the Les Ross juveniles. She did more than enough on debut behind Devine Force and since, has won two on the bounce, the latest being three weeks ago over 1200m at Doonben when leading throughout and was strong to the line in winning. Good test here in a better race, but hard to knock the way she’s racing.
Race 7. (16:52) Bernborough Plate 1600m
7 Tazaral (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will appreciate getting to 1600m for Team Snowden. He resumed off a let up in the Festival where he was an eye catcher, closing off with purpose from near last on the turn to be beaten only 1.5L by Phearson in a driving finish. First run since Sep 23, he should take good improvement off that and rates highly here.
1 Acquitted (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is hard to beat here IMO. Kris Lees trained gelding that is three weeks between runs since a dominant win in the Tails at Doomben where he got into a reasonable spot behind the speed before angling into clear air and the way he put them away was impressive. Only has to hold his form and he’s hard to beat again despite creeping up in the weights.
3 The Vowels (Bet Now:Β $SP.00), on paper, isn’t racing in the best of form, but I don’t think he’s going too bad to my eye. He ran in The Gateway a fortnight back when wide no cover for the trip and was entitled to knock right up and finish near last but he stuck on and was pretty good in defeat behind Dream Hour. Like him up to 1600m and with a better run in transit, he’ll take holding out.
Race 8. (17:32) Magic Millions Falvelon 1200m
1 Spacewalk (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) for me. James Cummings trains this galloper, who hasn’t raced since Cup Week at Flemington where he was narrowly beaten on Oaks Day in the Century by Najem Suhail. Tick over trial at Hawkesbury was very strong and I think Eagle Farm will be ideal given the long straight, he can be cuddled for as long as possible before unleashing his brilliant change up speed.
7 Ef Troop (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing really well at the moment for Tony Gollan. Both runs back from a spell have come at 1000m, the latest being a fortnight back in the Bribie when back near last in the run but wound up strongly in the straight when a close up fourth to stablemate All That Pizzazz. He will love getting to 1200m and if he’s within range, he has the finale to launch over the top.
9 Deepour (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since contesting the George Moore where he got back in the run and did make up ground but was never really threatening and I thought was a touch disappointing behind Zoustyle. Hard fit now, Eagle Farm…I would say he is nearing D-Day for this prep because he’s not racing at his best and we know his best can see him win this.
Race 9. (18:12) Season Greetings From Brc (C3) 1200m
10 Bezique (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has looked impressive in two starts/wins this time in. She just now needs to translate that to Eagle Farm from Doomben. Both wins she has been prohibitive odds to win and she hasn’t let her supporters down, albeit in races much weaker than this, but she is a mare in form with a good racing style and will be hard to run down.
5 Boom Shot (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Spirit Of Boom 4YO for Tony Gollan that resumes. He hasn’t raced since April 19 at Ipswich when a sharp winner over 1200m and ending the prep on a high, and I love horses that go for a spell off a win because they generally come back in similar form. Trial work has been strong and he looks one with upside/progression compared to some of these.
1 Commodus (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Former Victorian that has come to Queensland with trainer Mark Sues. He was a borderline city class horse when racing in Victoria so the talent is certainly there to say he can measure up here and his recent trial at the Sunny Coast was a very nice piece of work. I think watch the market and see what it does with him.
Race 10. (18:52) Eva Air Evergreen (Bm85) 1400m
1 Go Wandji (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) commands respect. He ran over 1200m here two weeks back and I think you can make a case to say he should have won. Molloy just couldn’t get to the outside to build the revs and had to weave his way through, which isn’t the style of this horse. He wants clear air to wind into his work so if that can eventuate here, he’ll take holding out, especially up in trip.
12 Freedom Rally (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He ran two weeks ago in The Gateway where he was just off the speed and once presented in the straight, I thought he was going to get there but he couldn’t quite finish the race off when fourth to Dream Hour. He should be ready now and we know his best is very, very good.
10 Tony Be (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Chris Waller trained gelding that resumes. This guy ended last prep on a high, winning over 1800m here and was impressive the way he put them away and finished his race. He is better suited over further but maps to get a suck run and will be strong at the end.
