23/10/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville

A nine race meeting has been set down for the Parks track at Morphettville this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

6 Flying Barty (Bet Now: $4.00) is a Flying Artie filly resuming for Will Clarken. This girl was unwanted in betting when debuting here back in April when wide no cover but she battled on pretty well when fourth to Generation, who is Stakes performed. Couple of solid trials under the belt and finds a winnable maiden.

10 Totally Discreet (Bet Now: $2.80), to me, is a jump/run type. They have restrained her in both career outings and each time, she has been quite weak late. IMO, I think let her roll in front and give them something to chase. If that doesn’t work, I doubt you’ll see her at metro level again anytime soon.

5 Chasing Stars (Bet Now: $81.00) is a speedy filly who comes here off a mini freshen up, four weeks between runs since pouring the pressure on in front outside the speed and tiring badly late. Tick over trial to tune up for her return and the winner of that race was Philonize, who looks above average.

Think this is really good placement by Lloyd Kennewell with 2 Strategy (Bet Now: $4.50). He has only won the one race, but comes here with strong Victorian provincial form. Chased a strong speed at Echcua last time out and kept finding when second to Lunar Hero. Lands in a plum spot from the gate and should take a power of beating.

I’ll take a chance in including 6 Distant Lover (Bet Now: $4.20), who resumes for Phillip Stokes. This girl was with Peter Moody before an end of prep run for Stokes at Gawler and was spelled soon after. Good break, full prep with Stokes and looks to have trialled really well. Her best is good enough to take this out.

5 Virtue (Bet Now: $16.00) is a Phillip Stokes trained mare that is certainly capable if she produces anything near her best. Five wide throughout at Mornington last time out and rightfully faded out of the finish. Total forgive. I think this is more her level and if that hasn’t busted her, she’ll be in the finish.

3 Star Of Chaos (Bet Now: $1.90) clearly on top for me. This filly has done little wrong this time in for the McEvoy camp, winning 2/3, the defeat being a solid effort at Sandown behind Lina’s Legend. Strong on speed win at Geelong last time, so she has the right form back to Adelaide metro level and has the right racing pattern.

12 Deevine (Bet Now: $26.00) should be suited up in trip for Ryan Balfour. Ran over 1200m a fortnight back on the course proper here when back near last in the run and finishing off strongly behind Outpost, who won again last Saturday, so the form has been ticked off. Hopefully can sit closer in the run.

7 A Bit Racey (Bet Now: $20.00) is a Ryan Balfour trained mare that is around three weeks between runs since racing over 1200m at Gawler. She was near the speed throughout and was there to win but couldn’t quite finish the job when third to in form galloper Five Pocket. Up to 1300m I find interesting, but one for multiples.

9 Comfort Girl (Bet Now: $6.50) has barrier issues but ability wise, I think she has a bit on this lot. Resumption came over 1300m here and her finale was very good from the back in a strong return behind talented mare Star Of Uma. Tailed off last in a tick over trial, so she is a query, but off the first up run, I think she’ll take a power of beating here.

5 Wertheimer (Bet Now: $3.60) is a very interesting runner. Former Kiwi that was trying to head down the Queensland Derby path but after a plodding effort at Kembla, he was spelled and is now with Michael Hickmott, who has a very good record with these former Kiwi gallopers. Looked trial well a couple of weeks back and 1550m fresh tells me he’s ready to go.

3 Neva Doubt Us (Bet Now: $26.00) is a Grant Young trained stayer that resumes. This son of Not A Single Doubt that hasn’t raced since Christmas last year when failing to measure up behind a then in form Ritratto. Better suited over further, but with these stayers, they can pull out a decent run fresh.

8 Enchantingly (Bet Now: $2.80) should prove hard to beat here. Scott Westover has done a fab job with this mare. Last run came in the How Now where she was far from disgraced in defeat when fifth to Bella Nipotina. That form is A1 for this and has been kept up to the mark with a quiet tick over trial. Barring bad luck, she’ll go awfully close.

10 Ideas Man (Bet Now: $15.00) has to be respected. Unwanted in betting when resuming a fortnight back on the Parks track. Attempted to lead throughout and gave a solid kick, but first up, his condition just gave way late when fifth to Alleboom. Fresh legs, run under the belt, he’ll take beating.

4 Huffington (Bet Now: $11.00) is a Phillip Stokes trained mare that is racing in good form at the moment. Put together a couple of wins on the bounce, including at this track/distance. Last run came at this track/distance when on speed and fighting hard. Bloused late by a Stakes class horse, Dexelation. That form reads well.

1 Street Tough (Bet Now: $5.00) has a bit of quality about him and he commands respect. Over a month between runs since a game effort in the Whylie behind Free Of Debt, who has since gone on to run well in Melbourne so the form reads well. Fresh legs and up in trip, he has the class to take this out.

2 Terbium (Bet Now: $4.40) can bounce back for Phillip Stokes. He was backed with confidence first up in the Whylie but got stuck wide no cover for the trip on speed and just felt the pinch late when fifth to Free Of Debt. That was five weeks ago, so he’s had time to recover from that and back to this level, he appeals.

8 Tullys Gold (Bet Now: $15.00) will be fence in run and near the speed, which is usually a good spot for this track. Needed the run fresh behind Huffington before racing on the course proper here two weeks back and he tried hard. But he had to chase The Billionaire and he was gassed early on in the straight. First four threat getting a suck run from the draw.

2 Slipintothis (Bet Now: $2.45) looks a safe option. Patrick Payne rarely misfires when he brings them to SA and he brought this guy over when a strong winner two weeks ago on the course proper here. Lovely on speed steer from Pannell and he was miles too good for them. This looks no harder and only has to hold his form to likely win again.

3 Exalted Ambition (Bet Now: $6.00) runs every Saturday it seems like but he is racing in good form for Grant Young. He ran last Saturday and tried hard from near the speed but couldn’t quite finish it off when fourth to Marymount Lass. How strong is that form? Not sure, but this guy is very genuine.

9 Smiling Assassin (Bet Now: $18.00) is racing really well at the moment for the Francis/Kent camp. Won at Gawler four back and in three subsequent runs, he has been solid, the latest coming two weeks back over 2500m on the course proper here when second to Slipintothis. He’s a must for exotics.

9 Impossible Action (Bet Now: $3.20) is racing well for Team Jolly and I think he can bounce back. Gave them a spanking at this track/distance two back before racing at Murray Bridge last Friday where he seemed to have every chance but couldn’t quite finish it off when third. Off the win here the start prior, that will see him win this.

5 Celestial Illusion (Bet Now: $4.50) is a real model of consistency for Phillip Stokes that will put himself on speed and give his all. Wide no cover and did work before sliding forward here three weeks and fought on gamely when third to surprise winner Wylie Ol’ Coyote. He was a few weeks between runs there so he seems to like his races spaced. He’ll run an honest race once again.

8 Ice Ghost (Bet Now: $18.00) is a sneaky chance. Good record on the Parks track and I didn’t mind his resumption on the course proper here two weeks back. He got back to near last in the run and was never really a winning threat but his finale was more than sound behind The Billionaire. Fitter and up to 1400m, he appeals.

2 Star Of Uma (Bet Now: $3.00) should prove hard to beat here for the McEvoy camp. Had a decent let up prior to racing three weeks ago on the Parks track where she led throughout. Was there to be run down from the front, but found plenty under pressure and was too good. She’s a beauty and will look the winner for a fair chunk of the race. Hopefully can hold on.

6 Another Award (Bet Now: $8.50) has found winning form and she can go on with it. Was big odds two weeks ago on the course proper here when sitting off a good speed before Stubby sliced his way through the field and drove hard late to win. Off that effort, the extra 100m here should be fine and is hard to beat.

I’m not sure the Parks track will suit 3 Lakhani Rose (Bet Now: $19.00) but her best is certainly good enough. She got a mile out of her ground two weeks back but was good late behind Another Award. The track and how it plays will be crucial to her claims given she will be back near last, which sometimes doesn’t suit this track, but if they can run on, she can win this.
