5 Barello (Bet Now:  $SP.00) seems a solid each way speck to start the meeting. He is several weeks between runs since a win at Murwillumbah, finishing best and was strong to the line in winning. Good racing style, Nash aboard, he’ll do me on an each way basis.

1 King Larry (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is six weeks between runs since contesting a Highway at Randwick when back near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make some headway in defeat behind Massira. Maps to settle closer and be effective late.

11 News Bound (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes to Highway grade after a narrow win at Gilgandra last start. She got into a nice spot just off speed and while the margin was narrow, she was good. Right down in the weights after the claim, she appeals.

8 Rajwa (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is top seed but not really a race I want to get involved in. She was kept safe in betting when debuting at Wyong in August and seemingly had her chance when fourth in what was a strong maiden. Two trials under the belt and the depth here looks quite thin.

4 Assumed (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a well bred filly that debuts for Chris Waller. She has had a couple of trials this time in to get ready for start one and has looked solid enough to my eye so watch betting and see what it does with her.

6 Milk Foam (Bet Now:  $SP.00) resumes for Gary Portelli and is dangerous. She did nice things when last in work without winning but I have been encouraged by her trial work and she should be strong late. Watch betting.

2 Rhetoric (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was kept quite safe in betting when debuting here on New Years Day. He got on speed despite doing early work. I thought he was entitled to finish his race off a touch better but he had trialled well prior to the debut and this race isn’t overly deep.

7 Willingham (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes to town after racing last Thursday at Beaumont Newcastle where he attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick but just felt the pinch late. Front end control he’ll take running down.

1 Shawnee Boy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Maurice that debuts for Chris Waller. He has had a couple of trials to get ready for start one and has looked okay without jumping up and down. Maps to do no work and I say he’ll be stronger than most late.

7 Rach (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can make a winning return. Chris Waller trained mare that resumes where she wasn’t too bad when last in work but I have been taken by the way she has trialled for the return and will be strong at the end.

3 Just Maz (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a daughter of Justify that debuts for Ryan/Alexiou. She has had a couple of trials this time in to get ready for start one and the most recent trial was impressive. Nash rides, she’ll be strong late and the depth has thinned out after scratchings.

2 Almaaz (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a daughter of Zoustar that debuts for Chris Waller. Her trial work to get ready hasn’t been too bad without being great…could I back her to win? No. But she can run first four at a price.

8 Golden Loom (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. That win came on New Years Day at this track/distance, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive effort. Maps to settle closer and with luck getting clear, he’ll launch late.

5 Steel Strike (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over the mile at Randwick when attempting to lead throughout and he gave a strong kick but had no answers late for the in form Hereward. Looks the leader and will take running down.

1 Valimi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came four weeks ago at Randwick. He landed in a decent spot in transit I thought and was there to threaten I thought but just whacked late. Fitter, in well after the claim, not dismissing him.

1 Captain Fenkel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a big price here. Formerly in Queensland Wingham Marcus Wilson, he’s now with the Beer/Carpenter camp. Loved the way he moved in a recent Kembla trial, he should lead and be hard to run down at odds.

3 Assailant (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a GaiBott trained gelding that resumes. He is first up at 1900m, which is an ask, but he has had extensive trial work to get ready, good racing style and will be tough, strong at the end.

2 Oakfield Hawk (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1900m after coming through the Placid Pearl race from a few weeks back at Randwick. He got off speed and was never really threatening but I did think was far from disgraced in defeat. Like him back in trip…doubt he wins but can run first four.

1 Fine Vintage (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1100m after racing over 1250m on New Years Day here. He landed on speed and tried his guts out but just found one better in Just In Time. Like him back in trip, good racing style, he clearly appeals against these.

3 Kimberley Secrets (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect. She ran two weeks ago at Wyong when on speed and did try hard but just found one better in Petticoat. Looks like she could spear over, find the front and take running down.

8 Jambalaya (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in the mix. She ran a few weeks back in the Midway at Randwick when just off speed and was there to win but just whacked in the run to the line. With the right run in transit, he’s good enough to win.
