Race 1. (11:15) Midway (Bm72) 1300m
7 Nosey Parker (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a horse I do have time for and confident he can measure up and run a positive race against these. He ran two weeks ago in the Midway at Randwick. He got too far back in the run and didn’t really get clear room to move, only getting warm very late behind Diamond Diesel. Like him up in trip and with a more positive ride, he can take this out.
3 Diamond Diesel (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a consistent animal for Adam Duggan that was bursting to win a race and the Blinkers going on was the little bit extra needed to ensure he greets the judge first, leading throughout and was there to be beaten but found to fend them off. That was his first run in four weeks so you’d like to think there is room for improvement.
2 Soami (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for David Pfieffer since winning a Midway over 1400m here. He got a fair way out of his ground but was able to slice his way through the field and in a driving finish, he was able to get a much deserved win. Repeating the dose is the query with him, but if the breaks go his way again, he can certainly take it out.
Race 2. (11:50) Racing For Good On July 29 Hcp 1200m
1200m is on the short side for 1 Inhibitions (Bet Now:Β $SP.00), but she has runs on the board from the Autumn and IMO, she could be a moral. She resumes for James Cummings, having not raced since the Fernhill during The Championships at Randwick when down the track, producing an end of prep run behind stablemate Tom Kitten. She went like a jet in a Hawkesbury trial on Monday…if she can get luck from the inside gate, not settle too far back, get clear air, good luck beating her.
10 Taormina (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give a sight. She was kept quite safe in betting when debuting over 1200m at the Warwick Farm midweeks and she was impressive in leading throughout. She was there to be run down but she just kept finding, as is the case with the GaiBott horses. The stable has had an unbelievable season with their juveniles and she is another that I think can progress.
8 Listentozou (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a juvenile I am not losing hope with. He ran at the midweeks on the Kenso at Randwick last time where he got off the speed and in an on speed domination, he was never a factor, but didn’t mind the way he finished his race behind Sicilian. Stable keeps talking him up as a nice horse…just want to see it on race day.
Race 3. (12:25) Tab Highway Plate (C3) 1500m
7 Burrandana (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is bursting to win a Highway and I think he gets a golden opportunity here. Both runs this time in have come in Highways, the latest being over 1400m two weeks ago at Randwick and he was a little unlucky not to win, getting held up before eventually finding clear air and launched late to just miss out on the win when second to Chase My Crown. More upside to come, happy to be in his corner.
11 Chase My Crown (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has done a ripping job this time in for Wayne Wilkes but wasn’t winning. That all changed at Randwick a fortnight back, getting a peach from Gibbons then showed good ticker late to fend off Burrandara. He has run well at 1500m previously and while she’s been up a long time, I think she only has to hold her form to be around the mark.
1 Eaglemont (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has raced at the mile his past three and back to Highway grade, he appeals. Latest run was two weeks ago at Doomben where he got back to near last in the run but worked home with real purpose late in the piece when a narrow second to Hector De Maris. The way he has been finding the line, he’ll be stronger than most at the end.
Race 4. (13:00) Kia Ora Prague (Bm78) 2400m
4 Wahine Toa (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs for Maher/Eustace after racing in the Stayers Cup at Randwick where she was near the speed throughout and just lacked the change up speed to put them away but stayed on and was game in defeat when second to Outlandos. Right camp, upside and will be strong at the end. Clearly rates highly.
3 So United (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one of the hardest to beat. Dominant win at the midweeks at Warwick Farm before going to Rosehill three weeks ago where he was near the speed throughout and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when a close up fourth to Fawkner Park. He has that 2400m run under the belt, which should hold toughen him right up for this.
2 Kirkeby (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is fourth up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. His last couple of runs have been quite encouraging, the latest being a fortnight back at Randwick when a closing second to Manbehindthemoney in a good effort. He’s hard fit now and I do think 2400m will be no issue. One of the leading contenders.
Race 5. (13:35) Furphy (Bm78) 1200m
3 So Good So Cool (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate getting back up to 1200m. He won a Midway at this trip two back before coming back to 1100m two weeks back and was pretty good late without threatening behind Insurrection. Back up in trip is a big tick and if he can settle closer in the run, he’s certainly dangerous and can easily win.
2 Brudenell (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a slight query at the end of 1200m at this level but with his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance. He did that two weeks ago at Randwick over 1100m and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite finish it off when second to Insurrection. If the track is playing up/in, he’ll look the winner for a long way. Hard to run down.
8 Wategos (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a knockout hope. Bjorn Baker trained gelding that resumed at Randwick two weeks back where he got back off the speed from the inside gate and found the line well enough when beaten a couple of lengths by Insurrection. He’ll take good improvement from that and the depth here, as a whole, isn’t deep.
Race 6. (14:10) Precise Air (Bm78) 1200m
2 Waverider Buoy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has returned in super order. Chris Waller trained filly that just missed out on the win fresh when a narrow second to Brudenell before going to the Rosehill 1100m again a few weeks back where McEvoy rode with intent and in a driving finish, she got the job done. Has good room for improvement and hard fit, up to 1200m, she appeals.
12 Principessa (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has a decent engine under the hood for Joe Pride. She doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but will be launching late, as she did last start on the Kenso where Collett did his thing, slicing his way through the field, getting the splits and dashed hard late to score. Jumps to Saturday metro grade, but she brings the different form and will be strong at the end.
4 Running Bear (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Jan Bowen trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since the Country Championships Final at Randwick when struggling on the bog behind Sizzle Minizzle. Not a noted fresh horse but has looked very nice in a couple of trials and strikes a winnable race so watch the market.
Race 7. (14:45) Tab (Bm72) 1500m
With all the upside in the world, it could be a case of good luck beating 2 Chorlton Lane (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) for Maher/Eustace. Australian debut came over 1300m here three weeks ago when giving them a start and a beating, finishing off his race with real purpose for a sharp win at start one down under. Fitter, up to 1500m, enormous upside…hard to get away from him.
4 Noble Conqueror (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has the engine under the hood to measure up. He just doesn’t have the race sense. That was the case a fortnight back when resuming at Randwick, getting back to near last in the run and in a sit/sprint, he was never a winning threat but liked his finale behind Token Capitalist. Better set up this time around so not dismissing him.
9 Kangaroo Court (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has returned in pretty good order. Bit of quality about his first up win at Kembla in a maiden before going to Hawkesbury where he landed on speed and showed good fight in the straight but had no answers for the finale of a handy one, Strait Acer. Good racing style, hard fit, he’ll give a sight.
Race 8. (15:25) Winter Challenge 1500m
Now that he has got a run in the field, I’m going to have a throw at the stumps with 16 Travest (Bet Now:Β $SP.00). Yes, he is still eligible for a 78, but the fact two three year olds are favourite tells you how thin this race is. Look at his run last start at Randwick. He was incredibly stiff not to be in the finish. Badly held up, checked, had to go back to the quicksand but was holding his own to the line. Am I full of confidence? No, but that can be said about most of these and at the big odds, don’t need much on to find out.
12 Barbie’s Fox (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was one of a couple unlucky runs from the Winter Stakes two weeks ago. She got badly held up at the wrong stage and was warming to the task nicely late in the piece behind Ucalledit. Think she’d love a bit of juice in the track rather than a firm deck but she’s in form and comes through the key form race.
5 Longvillers (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has had the two runs under the belt at 1400m and now is wanting a rise in trip, which he gets here. He was kept safe in betting two weeks back in the Winter Stakes but things didn’t work out for him from the inside gate and he was never really a factor behind the in form Ucalledit. He hasn’t really set the world on fire since arriving from overseas so I’d say this is near D-Day.
Race 9. (16:05) July Sprint 1100m
4 Dragonstone (Bet Now:Β $SP.00), I am convinced, is flying and is hard to beat against these. He ran two weeks ago at Doomben and on face value, he was okay, but when you break down the race, his run was enormous given he was back in an on pace domination and just couldn’t get into the race early enough when third to Sneaky Five. Think he wins if he’s within range 400m out, which is a slight query at the Rosehill 1100m.
12 Forzanini (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness for Team Snowden. Far from disgrace fresh in the Bob Charley behind Spacewalk before racing at Randwick again two weeks ago when dropping back to a Mares 78 when ridden with intent, sitting on speed, and tried hard, but just couldn’t quite finish it off when beaten just under two lengths. Hard fit, and I think with a more patient steer, she’ll be far more effective.
9 Munitions (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is first up for Richard Litt and is potentially dangerous. I love horses that go out on a high because they usually come back to racing in similar order. That last run was a win over 1200m at Ramdwick back in early February. 1100m is on the short side for him but his two trials have been more than encouraging and he strikes a winnable race.
Race 10. (16:40) Rosehill Bowling Club (Bm88) 1300m
1 Much Much Better (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks hard to beat against these. Sara Ryan trained gelding that resumed over 1200m at Randwick two weeks ago where he was near the speed throughout, leading, and giving a very solid kick, but just couldn’t quite finish it off when second to Wewillrock. Not the most dynamic second up record, but like him up in trip and with his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance.
4 Kalino (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a talented animal for Chris Waller that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since the Autumn Carnival when a close up fourth in the Star Kingdom behind Bacchanalia in a bunched finish. He can be a bomb when produced fresh and his trial work to get ready has been more than encouraging. Hard to beat.
6 Glint Of Silver (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a David Pfieffer trained three year old resuming. He really came of age last time in, graduating from a second in a Kembla Class One to a Group ll winner at Sandown. He is better suited over slightly further, but has trialled up really well to get ready and with a good racing style, he’ll give cheek.
