22/2/2020 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Eagle Farm

A nine race card has been assembled for Eagle Farm on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

4 Mishani Machine (Bet Now: $2.50) looks the one to beat. Two runs back from a spell for this Les Ross filly, bolting up fresh at the Gold Coast before racing over 1200m here two weeks ago where she was ridden very negatively and pretty much had no hope of winning behind stablemate Hancora Field, who has won again since to tick that form. If she can sit nearer the speed, she’s the pony to bet on.

7 Bellissimi Amici (Bet Now: $2.15) is a leading chance here for Rob Heathcoate off the back of two good runs to start her career, the latest coming in the Hancora Field race from two weeks where she actually beat Mishani Machine home despite giving her a start on the turn, so no surprise she is favourite and meets that horse better at the weights. The query is if the top tip leads and controls, will this girl be able to sprint hard.

6 Statesville (Bet Now: $8.00) is a Kacy Fogden trained colt that gave his rivals a spanking two back at Beaudesert before going to the Hancora Field race from two weeks ago here where he was one of many not suited by the slow tempo set by the eventual winner. Did sit on speed in the Beaudesert win, so if they revert to those tactics, he can bounce back.

7 In Your Element (Bet Now: $7.50) is flying for Kevin Kemp and confident she runs well again here, hopefully greeting the judge first. Ran over this track/distance two weeks ago and worked home strongly from the back to run a narrow second to Kuttamurra Al, who failed with excuses last Saturday. This mare finds a very winnable race, so I’m in her corner.

1 Breakdance (Bet Now: $3.00) is a Chris Waller trained stayer who should be suited up to 2200m and getting onto a bigger track. He looked in awful trouble last time out at Doomben on a number of occasions, but his class came to the fore when it counted and stuck his head out to win. Harder here re depth, but looks more suited race shape wise.

2 Dream Builder (Bet Now: $14.00) is a sneaky chance here I think. On the quick back up after racing last Saturday at this track/distance when back in the field and never really a winning threat, but did make up ground late behind Raqeeq. That raced looked to have a bit of depth to it and he has raced well on the quick back up before when trained by Matty Dale.

6 Empire Games (Bet Now: $5.50) looks a nice type for Chris Anderson and confident he can measure up here. Both career outings have come at the Sunny Coast, placing on debut over 1200m before having a few weeks off and racing at the mile where visually, his sustained run was coming to an end, but given the set up, the win had good merit. Hard to beat up to 1800m.

2 Violet (Bet Now: $2.60) is racing as if 1800m will be okay for her. Michael Nolan trains this filly, who was okay in defeat at the Sunny Coast behind Vanna Girl before running second to that girl here two weeks ago, closing off strongly from near last to run second. Can sit closer in the run if need be, and if she does, she’s a sneaky chance of turning the tables.

4 Cabochon Lil (Bet Now: $8.00) is starting to put it all together after finding it hard to win a race. This filly has won two of her past three, the last start resulting in a win over 1800m on her home track at the Sunny Coast when finishing best from near the back to score in good style. Harder here, but the tick for her is that she has the 1800m run under the belt.

If the best version of 4 Turnberry (Bet Now: $2.35) turns up, or something similar to his best, I think he’s got these covered. Kris Lees trains this gelding, who comes to Queensland off the back of what looked a poor run at Randwick three weeks ago, but he was slow to recover post race, so there were excuses. Lands on speed here, and his best form is better than these.

6 Savwell (Bet Now: $3.00) is an improver here second up. David Vandyke trains this gelding, who is three weeks between runs since resuming at this track/distance when near the speed and battled away pretty well in defeat behind Gresham, who was in a good mood and bolted in. Good second up record for Savwell and should get run of the race from the draw.

2 Mawaany Machine (Bet Now: $18.00) will be better suited over a bit further, but he does have a touch of quality about him. Resumed over this track/distance three weeks ago where he was back nearer the inside and seemed to have his chance, but wasn’t too bad in defeat behind Gresham. 2000m+ is when he’ll come into his own, but for multiples, I’d be including him.

Looks to be a stack of speed engaged here, so I think 7 Trail Of Glory (Bet Now: $8.50) can get a cheap run nearer the inside and be strong at the end. Handy mare for Tony Gollan that resumes and if she’s right, she’s certainly in the mix against these and thought she trialled well at Doomben without the blinkers. Hopefully doesn’t get run off her legs.

12 Written With Ease (Bet Now: $4.20) is a daughter of Written Tycoon for Stuart Kendrick that resumes. This three year old hasn’t raced since October 26 when on speed and battling away pretty well in defeat behind Soxagon, who at the time was flying. Given a quiet trial on Tuesday, but she’s got enough class/quality to beat these. Market will be the guide.

14 Paper Trade (Bet Now: $13.00) is a Team Hulbert trained gelding that closed off strongly two back at Doomben behind the heavily backed Musical Genius before going to the 1000m at the Sunny Coast, back in trip, and worked home strongly without being a winning threat. Can sit closer in the run if need be and like him against this lot.

Going the way of 5 Just Orm (Bet Now: $6.00) for Tony Gollan. Four weeks between runs since winning a similar race at the Sunny Coast, appreciating a fast speed and finishing best in a blanket finish. Think he’ll get the A1 run in transit behind likely leader Boom Chicka Boom and I think he’ll take some holding out if that run does pan out.

10 Pizonie… (Bet Now: $6.50) gee he’s a bugger. Been on his back his past few, jumped off last start and what happened? He sprouted wings from the back and scored an impressive win at this track/distance three weeks ago. Harder here, but he is a last start winner, is hard fit and will be strong late if they go hard in front.

Big query is 4 Super Too (Bet Now: $18.00), a former Marc Conners mare that is resuming under the care of Tony Gollan. She was an absolute speed demon when racing in Sydney but her last few runs, she caved in far too quickly. Now with Gollan, the trial here a couple of weeks ago saw her ridden quiet off the speed, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens with her here.

Rob Heathcoate has got 2 Plitvice (Bet Now: $3.70) firing again. For the most part, he was really disappointing last prep, but this time in, he’s back to his best, winning his past two, with the latest coming two weeks ago over 1400m here, helped by a lovely steer just off the speed by Fradd. Harder here, but he seems to be in the zone at the moment and is hard to beat.

8 Ramtastic (Bet Now: $10.00) is flying for Kelly Schweida. Thought he was very good in defeat two back at the Sunny Coast behind Grey Missile before stepping up to 1400m here and working home strongly from the back behind Plitvice. If he is able to sit closer in the run this time around, which he can do, he’ll be a leading chance I’m sure.

1400m is a bit of an unknown with 9 Boom Boy (Bet Now: $16.00) but now seems the right time to try him. His past three runs have come at 1200m, the latest resulting in a big win from the back here two weeks ago. Not totally sold on him running a strong 1400m, but off the last start win, despite starting $41, I think he’s in the mix.

1 Profit (Bet Now: $1.95) is a quality three year old for Chris Anderson that is back for the Autumn. He hasn’t raced since the Magic Millions Guineas when midfield behind Alligator Blood after a somewhat awkward run in transit. Freshened up and severely back in grade/depth, if he’s forward enough, clearly the one to beat.

3 Ballistic Boy (Bet Now: $3.20) is a stablemate of Profit that is resuming. He hasn’t raced since being thrown in the deep end, contesting the Bondi Stakes at Randwick, and I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat when fourth to Kubrick, getting little room late. Trial win was good back on January 28 and wouldn’t shock at all if he beat Profit.

12 Red Bloom (Bet Now: $9.00) is third up from a spell and should be close to peak fitness for the Sears camp. Comes through the Baroda race from three weeks ago where she had a suck run nearer the inside and battled away pretty well in defeat without really threatening. Not sure I could back her to win, but is one for exotics.

They’re cooking with gas the Rob Heathcoate team when it comes to 5 Emerald Kingdom (Bet Now: $1.95). He’s got blacktype written all over him, winning four on the bounce, the latest coming at Doomben when heavily backed and he made an absolute mess of a decent field on paper. Ran significantly fast time for the day and did it without being fully extended. Should be winning again and potentially be a Winter Carnival candidate.

15 Boomtown Lass (Bet Now: $4.00) has been given a freshen up since contesting the QTIS race on Magic Millions Day at the Gold Coast where I thought she was far from disgraced in a strong race won by Outback Barbie. Fresh is best for her, she’s well in at the weights and with the scratchings, think she can press forward and be a leading chance.

4 Star Boy (Bet Now: $11.00) is the obvious query here. Son of Pluck for Brett Cavanough that resumes, having not raced since the Kosciuszko when wide no cover on speed and battling away really well in defeat when fifth to Handle The Truth. No trials leading in, but can sprint well fresh and obviously is the class factor of the field.

BEST BET: Race Nine Number 5 Emerald Kingdom

NEXT BEST: Race One Number 4 Mishani Machine

LONG SHOT: Race Six Number 5 Just Orm
