Race 1. (12:10) Equine Pathways Lamaro's Hotel (Bm78) 2000m
15 Whisky On The Hill (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He was a real eye catcher first up at The Valley before going to Caulfield where he got back and made up good headway late in the piece. Third up and hard fit, he appeals as a key chance.
14 Flamin Romans (Bet Now: $SP.00) should take beating for Ciaron Maher. He was a Morphettville Parks winner from two weeks ago where he looked a good thing on paper and under a confident steer from Pannell, he was much too good for them. That was his first run in four weeks so with room for improvement, he takes beating.
12 Corona Lad (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one I can entertain as a knockout hope. He was a tough winner at Morphettville two back before going to The Valley two weeks back where he got back in the run and while he was never threatening, he kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat. Dangerous if he can get a drag into the race.
Race 2. (12:40) Living Legends 4Cyte (Bm78) 1600m
11 Federer… (Bet Now: $SP.00) is he a Golden Eagle contender? He has a long way to go to reach those heights but gee he looks exciting. 2/2 to start his career, both times seeing him win quite arrogantly, the latest at Sandown where he got better as the race went on. Exciting prospect and I think he’ll take care of these.
2 Nails Murphy (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and he can maintain the purple patch for Ciaron Maher. Can make a case to say he should have won two back at The Valley before going there again two weeks ago and this time around, he got clear air at the right time, was out and too good late. He runs well once again.
4 Regal Zeus (Bet Now: $SP.00) will put himself on speed and give his all, which was the case a fortnight back at The Valley where he led and gave a decent sight but had no answers late for the finale of Nails Murphy, who had the suck run in behind. Racing well, good racing style, commands respect.
Race 3. (13:15) Classic Hits Magic 1278 (Bm84) 1400m
1 Sassy Boom (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be given another look. Danny O’Brien trained mare that resumed three weeks ago at this track/distance where she was on speed and looked to be trucking but I think condition just gave out late in the piece, beaten 1.5L. Improvement to come and had jumped out like a jet prior.
2 Lovazou (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one of the key threats. She comes through the Fire Of Etna race from a fortnight back here where she got badly held up from the inside gate and was stiff not to win, getting out but it was far too late. I think if she gets to room, she is one of the hardest to beat.
5 Matriarch Rose (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one to be entertained as a knockout hope. She resumed behind Fire Of Etna and I thought her run was full of merit getting not much room to move in the straight but I did like the way she finished her race off in defeat. Might want one more run and a rise to 1600m, but I am saying she can win this.
Race 4. (13:50) Jim Moloney Stakes 1400m
2 Jenni’s Meadow (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Team Hayes trained filly that resumes, and I dare say has eyes on the Oaks given how strong she was over the mile last time when winning the Taj Rossi Final. Her recent jumpout at Flemington was quite good and she looks to have returned bigger and better. Hard to beat.
1 Silmarillion (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing like she will eat up 1400m. She won the Atlantic Jewel a fortnight back, aided by a peach from McEvoy, and she got better as the race went on to win and win well. Like her up in trip and overall, this isn’t an overly deep race. Leading contender.
5 Sakima (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip for Peter Snowden. Far from disgraced two back in the Tea Rose behind Ameena before going to the Atlantic Jewel where she again got back but worked home well enough in defeat. Like her up in distance and for mine, a win wouldn’t totally shock.
Race 5. (14:25) Testa Rossa Stakes 1400m
3 Another Wil (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a star and he should make this another winning stepping stone potential towards Group l glory. His return and win three weeks ago at Caulfield was stunning, giving them a start and a beating, producing an unbelievable finale to get up and win. Better for the run…I think good luck beating him.
5 Light Infantry Man (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a fascinating runner. Ciaron Maher trains this guy, who had promised to deliver the world at one stage, but for the most part, he hasn’t lived up to the hype and price tag. That said, outside the favourite, it’s a very thin race so if he’s off his game, this guy could be there to pounce.
10 Wishlor Lass (Bet Now: $SP.00) commands respect I say. Symon Wilde trained mare that resumes after what I say was a disappointing Autumn prep where she didn’t fire in a couple of runs. Has been given a good break but her trial work to get ready for the return has been strong and she did fire in the Spring last year so I say watch the market and see what it does.
Race 6. (15:00) Tour D'horse Sprint (Bm100) 1100m
11 Commemorative (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a key threat. James Cummings trained mare that resumed four weeks ago in the Toy Show where I thought Zac rode her a touch too cute and waited too long to push the button, savaging the line late behind Kimochi. Fitter, more positive ride, I think she only runs well.
6 Chinny Boom (Bet Now: $SP.00) creates interest. Former Queensland mare for Clinton Taylor now that now finds herself with Moody/Coleman. She is a Stakes winner and is suited as a sprinter, so for mine, she is suited here, and I didn’t mind the way she went in a Pakenham jumpout last week. Watch the market and see what it does.
12 Rey Magnerio (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Griffiths/De Kock trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since April 27 over 1200m here when fourth in the VOBIS Sprint behind Who Dares. He is a good fresh horse, has jumped out well leading in and despite the wide gate, I think he has to be respected.
Race 7. (15:35) Mrc Foundation Cup 2000m
1 Que Tempesta (Bet Now: $SP.00) should love the rise to 2000m after resuming over 1700m three weeks ago here in the Heatherlie where he was one of many unlucky runners in the race behind stablemate and the very much in form Rise At Dawn. He’ll love the rise in trip, good upside and strikes a winnable race.
9 Gear Up (Bet Now: $SP.00) commands respect for the Neasham/Archibald camp. He resumed three weeks ago at this track/distance when near the speed but in a sit/sprint, he couldn’t quite dash when those in front did, but he stayed on and was good in defeat. Fitter, can settle near the front, leading chance I say.
12 Okita Soushi (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the one at odds that I could speck. He ran a beauty in the Cup last year before a break. Now with Maher, first run was a few weeks ago at Caulfield over 2000m in a sit/sprint and that just didn’t suit him, as well as the trip. He’ll eat up a truly run race IMO, has good upside and has class.
Race 8. (16:15) Underwood Stakes 1800m
IMO, it could be a case of good luck beating 11 Place Du Carrousel (Bet Now: $SP.00). Star mare for Team Freedman that resumes, having not raced since the Autumn where she took on the best of the best and ran really well. Been given a good break, her trial at Cranbourne was strong but her jumpout last week at Mornington, gee it was sharp. She looks ready for a Group l win and for mine, there is clear intent here.
7 Fawkner Park (Bet Now: $SP.00) has eyes on only one race, the Caulfield Cup, but he is a very good horse on the up for the Neasham/Archibald camp. He hasn’t raced since an unbelievable Autumn/Winter, firstly winning the Wagga Cup but went to a new level, with his win in The Q22 being so damn arrogant. Better suited over further and although he may need the run, he has quality.
8 Buckaroo (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a knockout hope. He won the Chelmsford two weeks back at Randwick, and yes, just fending off Hinged isn’t a glowing endorsement, but he did run well fresh in the Winx Stakes and connections would be desperate to win a Group l. Not sure he is good enough to win here, but is one to be included in wider exotics.
Race 9. (16:55) Caulfield Guineas Prelude 1400m
1 Depth Of Character (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very smart animal for the Neasham/Archibald camp that resumes. This guy was a dumbo as a two year old but he clearly showed above average ability, albeit not sure how strong the form is around him, but he has come back, trialled well enough at Randwick but his jumpout last week at Pakenham was sparkling. Very keen to see how he goes.
5 Wanaruah (Bet Now: $SP.00) is several weeks between runs for GaiBott since racing at Rosehill in the Up And Coming and he tried his guts out but was no match for a star filly in Autumn Glow. He could have won last week but the stable have kept him on ice for this, he maps perfect and brings strong form.
6 Feroce (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate getting to 1400m. He resumed three weeks back in the McNeil…well, I say he trialled again because that’s what it was in the end. It was a trial, getting badly held up behind them and had no clear air at any stage. Like him up in trip and with room to move, keen to see how he goes.
Race 10. (17:25) Here For The Horses Plate 1200m
8 Extratwo (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Ciaron Maher since racing in the Cockram where she came with a well timed run and for a few strides, looked the winner, but had to settle for a second to Quintessa. Stays at 1200m which I like and the depth here, I feel, isn’t as deep.
6 A Little Deep (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one to be entertained as a key threat off the back of her Chautauqua Stakes win two weeks ago at The Valley where she gave them a start and a beating, launching late to finish best and beating Arkansaw Kid, who came out and won the Bobbie Lewis, so the form reads very well and back to Mares grade, she appeals.
9 Herbert Park (Bet Now: $SP.00) is humming for Tony Noonan and commands respect. This mare is several weeks between runs since a win at Caulfield, making it three on the bounce, and credit to her, she was wide throughout and found under pressure. Good test here, but keen to see how she goes.
