Race 1. (12:15) Whispering Angel (Bm78) 1100m
5 Codigo (Bet Now: $9.00) comes back to 1100m after racing over 1400m a few weeks back at Caulfield when off speed and was never really threatening against the pattern but was pretty good late in the piece behind Until Valhalla. He’ll be strong late. Just depends what start he concedes.
4 Castellar (Bet Now: $4.20) was an impressive winner three weeks ago over 1000m here, sitting wide, but with cover, and was absolutely trucking before being clicked up by Williams and away he went to win and win well. Confidence is up, he can well and truly go on with it.
2 Gracie’s Rain (Bet Now: $5.00) is flying for Mick Huglin. She came back to 1100m off a freshen up at Caulfield and chased with real purpose in the straight but just found one better in Gallant Son. Fitter, good racing style, she clearly appeals.
Race 2. (12:45) Zeditave Stakes 1200m
Landed with 2 Rosberg (Bet Now: $2.40). Talented colt for Clinton McDonald that was a sharp debut winner before going to the Danehill where everything went wrong so forgive and forget. He looks to have jumped out very well for the return and Blinkers first time first up signals clear intent.
5 Wise Inlaw (Bet Now: $20.00) is a pretty solid animal for Moody/Coleman that resumes. He hasn’t raced since Caulfield Cup Day when far from disgraced over 1400m here behind Bacash. He has jumped out super at Pakenham to my eye and is another with Blinkers first time for the return.
4 Esmahli (Bet Now: $9.50) has been given a mini freshen up, five weeks between runs since a win at Rosehill, letting down with purpose late to win well. Tick over jumpout was quite good and he should be strong at the end of 1200m.
Race 3. (13:20) Victoria Gold Cup 2000m
4 Taken (Bet Now: $2.45) steps up in trip after an impressive win over 1700m four weeks ago at Caulfield, controlling the race outside the speed and was always the winner, moving clear late to win and win well. The rise in distance is fine, good racing style, he appeals.
8 Sun Gift (Bet Now: $6.00) won well over 2000m at Flemington two starts ago when sitting on the speed and giving a good kick late. In the small field and with the tighter turning Caulfield track I think the instructions will be to do the same here. If he can get a cheap sectional or two I think he will be hard to run down.
5 Saganti (Bet Now: $12.00) ran down the track behind Light Infantry Man. He was back near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, I did like the way he kept chasing in defeat. Not sure he is good enough to win but can run first four.
Race 4. (13:55) Autumn Classic 1800m
6 Master Of The Air (Bet Now: $9.00) is a nice colt for Chris Waller. He resumed two weeks back in the Autumn Stakes where he was back/wide. He was never really a winning threat but did like the way he finished his race off in defeat. Fitter and up in trip, a definite improver for mine.
4 Single Choice (Bet Now: $4.20) has a tricky gate to overcome but has talent for Matt Cumani. He resumed over this trip on the Heath track and tried hard but had to settle for a second. Tricky gate, but good upside and will be strong at the end.
3 Our Chief (Bet Now: $5.50) ran third to Miss Maranda at this track/distance three weeks back. He got into a decent spot just off speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there. Knocking on the door to win and is in the mix here I say.
Race 5. (14:30) Angus Armanasco Stakes 1400m
2 Salty Pearl (Bet Now: $5.50) looks to have returned in beast mode and is one of the hardest to beat here after resuming in the Manfred. The track pattern was against her but despite that, she was quite good late behind Space Rider. Fitter, up in trip, back to her own sex, she clearly appeals.
1 Sheza Alibi (Bet Now: $1.50) is the class of the field and it is going to carry her a long way. She was impressive in her two wins during the Spring, notably the Sandown Guineas here…but did she beat much to warrant the hype, and was blessed in run. Jumpout work has been solid…she can win, clearly, but seems way too short.
7 Exit (Bet Now: $26.00) should appreciate 1400m after resuming over 1200m at Cranbourne where she was beaten for early speed, got too far back, but loved the way he finished his race off in defeat. Fitter and up to 1400m, she’s capable of a decent showing.
Race 6. (15:05) Mannerism Stakes 1400m
5 Damask Rose (Bet Now: $3.00) should prove hard to beat for Mark Walker. She resumed in the Bellmaine a few weeks back when off speed from the inside gate but kept chasing and was quite good in defeat behind Wrote To Arataki. Fitter and up to 1400m, she takes beating.
7 Miss Aria (Bet Now: $14.00) was pretty good in defeat behind Wrote To Arataki at Caulfield in the Bellmaine. Race shape was against her but liked the way she finished her race off in defeat. Think with a more positive ride, she’s dangerous against these.
1 Benagil (Bet Now: $10.00) is a class mare for Glen Thompson that resumes. She had a three run prep, ending with a down the track effort in the Champions Stakes. Looks to have jumped out quite well for the return and has class on her side against these.
Race 7. (15:40) Futurity Stakes 1400m
7 Treasurethe Moment (Bet Now: $1.90) looks ready to rock and roll for Matt Laurie. She had a mixed Spring, but did start it with an absolute bang when a track/distance winner of the Memsie in stunning fashion. Looks prepped right up for a fresh assault and has to be rated as the one to beat.
I think 9 Leica Lucy (Bet Now: $17.00) is here to play. Chris Waller could have easily kept her in Sydney, but there is clear intent to resume here and head down the path of potentially the All Star Mile/Australian Cup. Trialled up very well to my eye in Sydney and we’ve seen this stable already this Autumn, they can get the big guns to fire first up. I think she’ll do me each way.
5 Watch Me Rock (Bet Now: $11.00) is a fascinating runner. WA star that is Mark Walker after being with Team Williams. Railway winner that went within a lip of winning the Northerly but found Cosmic Crusader too good. Trialled up super, I think he can measure up and run well.
Race 8. (16:15) Blue Diamond Stakes 1200m
The more I look at the lead ups, the more I warm to 5 Guest House (Bet Now: $5.00). I thought he was massive in the Prelude, sitting wide no cover, was very keen and did plenty wrong but loved the way he kept finding the line in defeat. If he does everything right, he is a clear top seed as far as I’m concerned. The gamble is, will he do everything right? If yes, he wins.
I think 11 Ghana’s Akan (Bet Now: $11.00) the knockout for Ciaron Maher. Loved the way she kept chasing in the Inglis Millennium and seems to be getting better with racing. E Brown rides, she maps ideally, will be strong late, clearly appeals.
The forgotten horse could be 7 Milsons Point (Bet Now: $31.00). He dodged the Prelude after his second in the Preview, working home strongly from off speed but just missed in a blanket finish. Loved his jumpout last week, he’ll be strong at the end of 1200m, he is a knockout hope.
Race 9. (16:55) Oakleigh Plate 1100m
I’ve been hot on 6 She’s Bulletproof (Bet Now: $26.00) for this race for a number of weeks and won’t be dropping off. She placed in this race last year to Jimmysstar…and gee that form does read well for a race like this. Jumped out super to my eye for the return…well weighted? Maybe not, but I think she’s humming for this and is a great each way gamble.
3 Tropicus (Bet Now: $7.00) has been set for this race for months and appears to be spot on. Team Freedman trained sprinter that does tend to save his best for Caulfield and his jumpout work suggests he is ready to go. Hopefully the market agrees.
2 Jedibeel (Bet Now: $17.00) is dangerous for Brad Widdup. They tried to race him at the elite level in the Spring and he didn’t quite measure up. He comes down a notch or two here for the return and I must say, he has looked to trial up very well in Sydney. Watch betting.
Race 10. (17:35) Lamaro's Hotel (Bm84) 1400m
Really like 1 Harry’s Yacht (Bet Now: $4.40). He was the eye catcher behind Until Valhalla three weeks ago here, working home with real purpose against the pattern. Maps to settle much closer in the run, he’ll be strong late..great gamble.
12 Stealth Of Night (Bet Now: $3.20) is hard to beat. She ran three weeks ago at this track/distance when off speed and got the beaut run to loom and win but had no answers for the finale of Until Valhalla. Stable, after a poor run, is FLYING, and this girl can bounce back hard into the winners list.
4 Narbold (Bet Now: $14.00) was an impressive winner a few weeks back over the mile at Caulfield, sitting off speed and was trucking before being given clear air and he was strong to the line late in wearing them down and winning. Hit and miss this horse but he’s in form now and commands respect.
