Adam Page gives us his runner by runner preview for tomorrow nights William Reid Stakes which features Peter Moody’s unbeaten mare Black Caviar. View his tips and selections.
1. True Persuasion
Moonee Valley specialist but has been slightly disappointing of late. He has had every chance to win at his last two but hasn’t gone on with it. Should get a lovely run and is a place hope.
2. King Pulse
Showed good improvement on his first up effort in the Newmarket when finishing fifth behind Black Caviar. He won’t turn the tables on her but is a quinella chance if he gets luck from the barrier.
3. Perturbo
Talented but this is too rich for him.
4. Black Caviar
No superlatives are good enough to descrive this horse. One of the best racehorses Australia has seen and is still yet to be tested in 10 career starts. Just sit back and enjoy another chapter of racing history.
5. Das Machen
Good mare from the Price yard. Won well second up and is drawn to get a soft run. She’ll be in the first four.
6. Hinchinbrook
Slightly disappointing in the Newmarket after a slashing run in the Oakleigh Plate. He is definitely a money muncher and I can’t have him.
7. Master Harry
Has shown his true form this preparation with a win in the Royal Sovereign before a thumping win down the straight last start. Drawn beautifully and is sure to be in the mix for the minor placings.
8. Crystal Lily
Golden Slipper winner who was allowed to roll along in front but was no match for Black Caviar last start. Will have to work from the barrier and that may cost her at the end of the race. She is also accepted for the Sportingbet Classic in Adelaide.
9. Panipique
Beautiful ride by Michael Walker to get this filly home down the straight at Flemington. Accepted also for the Sportingbet Classic. Don’t think she’ll threaten these.
Selections (Not in order): 1 True Persuasion, 2 King Pulse, 4 Black Caviar, 5 Das Machen
