The Magic Night Stakes will be the last chance for some of these Fillies to book their spot in to the 2011 Golden Slipper field. In a very open race Pane In The Glass and Retsina have opened as the equal favourites at $3.70. View my full preview.

Streama should figure in the finish in Saturday's Magic Night Stakes at Rosehill - Photo by Steve Hart
1. Pane In The Glass – Goes into the race with three wins from four starts and a placing. Very impressive winning his first three starts but found herself in trouble last start and wasnt fully clear til the last 100m and should have finished closer. Rates very well in this race and will be a major player. Should go close.
2. Aerobatics – Arguably only won a moderate form race last year, trialed very well going into her last start but was outclassed and may have been ridden against her normal patten. Expect her to go back from barrier twelve and i feel she will be suited much better being ridden quietly. Each way chance.
3. Streama – First start she was beaten a lip but showed good fight, second start she found a gap late to be beaten a length by the impressive Shared Reflections. Should find this race easier and she will strip fitter. Expect her to be in the finish.
4. Altar – Comes out of a good form race in Melbourne and Darley has a good opinion of her, second start and her first time running Sydney direction which could be an issue. Place chance.
5. Al’s Magic Miss – Beaten lengths in her last two starts and has drawn barrier 12. Happy to leave her out.
6. Disputes – Ran on well behind Defiant Dame last year but form around that race looks to be moderate at best, well bred and should be an improving type. Prefer to see her over longer distances. Place chance at best.
7. Bright Heart – Unlikely to figure in the placings.
8. Homedge – Will improve from last start but looks outclassed here.
9. Retsina – Very strong debut run behind Golden Archer who heads the Pago Pago Stakes market, will be fitter for the run and should go close if she can handle the Sydney way of running. Should go close.
10. Follow My Lead – May not have been fully tested behind Karuta Queen in her debut run, will improve but may need another start before we see her in the placings.
11. Mossmoney – Wont figure in the placings.
12. Shadow West – Wont figure in the placings.
13. Potluck – Moderate trial form, prefer to watch her this race. Doubt she will figure in the placings.
14. Quackquack – First starter for the John O’Shea stable, really impressed me in his trial last week which i marked down in the Trial Blackbookers article. Nash Rawiller to ride and at long odds isnt worst here. Great each way value.
Selections: Retsina, Quackquack, Pane In The Glass, Streama
