Adam Page gives us his runner by runner preview for tomorrow’s Ajax Stakes at Rosehill on Rosehill Guineas day. View his tips and selections.
1. Snow Alert
Has the ability and is proven in this class but the big concern is the rain. He needs a bone dry track to show his best and unfortunately for his backers, he won’t get that.
2. Brazilian Pulse
One of the better fillies in Australia. Showed her class winning the Crown Oaks last campaign and showed she has come back well with a strong second when resuming in the Kewney. She is also acceped for the Keith Nolan but whatever way she goes, she’ll be hard to beat.
3. Brilliant Light
At his best he’d go close to winning this but he has been out of form for a while. The last race he won? This race last year. I don’t think he can go back to back even though Nash jumps on.
4. Mr Clangtastic
Wait until he gets to 2000m+.
5. Mentality
Past his best and that was demonstrated at Canberra last start. Should have done more and he’ll struggle here.
6. Altered Boy
Missed the kick but ran on strongly in the Newmarket at Newcastle. He’ll be ready to go for this on his home track and is drawn well. An each-way chance.
7. Informality
Frustrating horse to follow. If he turns up he’ll be right in the finish but I’ll be just watching him. He is another that needs a bone dry track to show his A-game.
8. Trader
Was very good earlier in his career but his last few have been ordinary. Can’t have him on what he showed in the Newmarket at Newcastle. He loomed up but didn’t go on with it.
9. Pureness
An omen bet for punters here. This horse is a close relation to 2008 Golden Slipper winner Sebring. Gai trained and Bossy rode. Gai trains this galloper and who is riding? Bossy. He fought on well in the Liverpool Cup and is beautifully weighted here. Looks the one.
10. Lebrechaun
Saved for this race instead of Albury. Toughed it out to win the National Sprint at Canberra but the depth in that race isn’t strong compared to some of the form races in regards to this event. The stable rarely visit Sydney and come up empty handed. Watch him closely
11. Under The Eiffel
Has big wraps on him due to his sizzling start this campaign. His last couple have been good but if he wants to be a serious Doncaster contender, he needs to stand up here. Another that is well weighted.
Selections (Not in order): 2 Brazilian Pulse, 9 Pureness, 10 Lebrechaun, 11 Under The Eiffel
