20/4/2024 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Eagle Farm, Ascot Handicap day

2 Hidden Wealth (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in an eight start career and rates highly as one of the hardest to beat. He was unwanted in betting when racing two weeks ago at this track/distance but he defied the drift and worked home with real purpose late in the piece when second to Shalaa’s Moment. He’s found positive form and looks ready to win.

10 Barassi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very nice horse for Toby Edmonds that resumes. He’s rising six years of age but has only had two runs, which tells you that connections must have an opinion of him. His Magic Millions Maiden win…gee it was electric and he ran sizzling. He could be Stakes class, he could be a dud…not sure, but off what has been seen late, he appeals.

4 Liberty Steps (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks like he is enjoying life under the care of Nat McCall. He resumed a few weeks ago at Eagle Farm where he was held up at times but kept finding the line in a really good effort behind Ovidius. He has good room from improvement and fitter, he appeals.

6 Bonny Ezra (Bet Now:  $SP.00) rates highly for me. Chris Waller trained gelding that ran over 1800m here two weeks ago where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never really threatening, he kept finding the lien and was pretty good in defeat behind Stuck With You. Has run well at the trip previously and with a more positive steer, he’ll take holding out.

8 Red Wave (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a good track/distance record and looks set up to run really well here. He ran over 1800m here a fortnight back, surging hard late from just off the speed and tried his guts out but just missed out on the win when a narrow second to Stuck With You. Up in trip is ideal, in form, hard fit…appeals.

4 Seat Of Power (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks suited up in trip for Adam Campton. He ran in the Stuck With You race from two weeks back where he was too bad to be true, finishing tailed off after seemingly getting a decent enough run in transit. He was a month between runs there so with room for improvement and rising in distance, I am not penning him.

7 Talk Time (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for Lindsay Hatch and I am confident he can measure up. He looked a good thing at Ipswich last time and under a confident steer from Mallyon, he made a mess of an average bunch and was dominant in the run to the line. Tricky draw, but should get decent cover and be strong at the end.

13 Ocean Zar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for O’Dea/Hoysted. She ran second a fortnight back here where she got a fair way out of her ground but she found the line with purpose when second to Majestic Boom. Hit and miss at times but her best is good enough to be dangerous.

16 Iron Grace (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Scott Morrisey and has to be rated as one of the hardest to beat. This mare was a strong winner two back before racing on the home deck at the Gold Coast several weeks ago, getting back in the run and was good late without threatening behind This Is One. Hard to knock the way she’s racing and finds a winnable race.

6 Red Top (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to the mile and I think that will suit him. He ran over 1800m here two weeks ago where he got back off the speed and did make up some headway but he was never really a factor behind Stuck With You. Back in trip I like and off prior form, he’ll take beating against these.

3 Wairere Falls (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing really well without winning for Chris Waller. This gelding ran over 1800m here a fortnight back, getting a fair way out of his ground but he found the line with real purpose and was quite good in defeat behind Stuck With You. Back to the mile is fine, he’ll be strong late…just needs to be within range on the turn.

8 Baanone (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a knockout hope at odds. This guy ran last Saturday over 1350m at Doomben where he got back in a barrier trial essentially and was never a factor, rightfully so given the race shape, behind Arentee. He has a good track/distance record, tempo should be more genuine and he’ll be strong at the end.

12 Sacred Feeling (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win. Tony Gollan trained mare that hasn’t won this prep but has been around the mark, placing her past two, two back being over the mile at Doomben before going here a fortnight back where she got off the speed and found the line with purpose late in the piece when third to Connecticut. She has that 1800m run under the belt, which holds her in good stead.

1 This’llbetheone (Bet Now:  $SP.00) hasn’t done a bad job since joining Jack Bruce. He led throughout and was dominant two back at Beaudesert before going to Doomben last Saturday when ridden with a sit and stuck on well enough in defeat when fourth to Northern Decree. Racing well, he’s hard fit and has versatility re racing pattern. Dangerous for sure.

4 Dreamdeel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is suited up in trip for Allan Kehoe. He was 1500m back to 1400m when racing two weeks back here. He led and gave a decent sight but couldn’t quite see it through and felt the pinch late behind Bean Foggy. Up in trip, good racing style, knockout chance.

11 Tojaki (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has had a couple of runs at 1200m to start the prep and she’ll love the rise to 1400m. She ran a fortnight back where she got off the speed and a little bit out of her ground. She did make up headway and was good but was never really a threat. Hard fit now and up to 1400m, she rates highly.

3 He’s Heaven (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in two runs this time in. Desleigh Forster trained gelding that resumed with a 1350m Doomben win before going to 1400m at Eagle Farm several weeks ago. He was a bit keen on speed and he tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite finish it off when narrowly beaten by The Drover. Hard fit, good racing style, appeals.

12 Tick Tock Queen (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable with her best. Tony Gollan trained mare that resumed over 1200m here two weeks back where she was never really a threat, getting off the speed, but she kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat behind Bubba’s Bay. If she can settle closer in the run, she’s dangerous.

8 Russian Alliance (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to be in for a really good prep for Kevin Kemp. This filly was unwanted in betting when resuming a few weeks ago in the Military Rose at the Gold Coast, getting back off the speed and kept finding the line in a good return behind Chinny Boom. Fitter and up in trip, she appeals as one of the hardest to beat.

7 Rockribbed (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks like he will be enjoying life under the care of Tony Gollan. First run for the stable came a fortnight back at this track/distance when attempting to lead throughout and he gave a very strong kick in front but couldn’t quite see it through when a close up third to Bubba’s Bay. Think with a more patient steer, he’ll be far more effective.

9 Crazy Train (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is four weeks between runs for Matty Dunn since racing over 1200m at Eagle Farm. She got into a decent spot near the speed and presented to win but just found a couple better, finishing third to Bubba’s Bay. She was six weeks between runs there so has good room for improvement and likes the track.

1 Prince Of Boom (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is ready to go first up. Rob Heathcoate trained sprinter that last raced in the Magic Millions Syndicate when fourth to Derry Grove in a good effort after doing early work. Good fresh horse and his trial win last week at Doomben was outstanding. He’ll land on speed and take running down.

3 All That Pizzazz (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a sharp sprinter for Tony Gollan that resumes. He last raced in the King Of The Mountain at Toowoomba when back near last in the run and did make up ground without threatening behind Rothfire. He is a horse who can sprint well fresh and his trial at Doomben last week when on speed was quite good.

6 Nettuno (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is first up for Tony Gollan and his best is dangerous. He resumes, having not raced since the Magic Millions Sprint when outclassed, finishing down the track behind King Of Sparta. He has run well at 1200m but I do feel 1000m is his trip and I did like the way he has trialled leading in. One of the leading contenders.

5 Press Link (Bet Now:  $SP.00) creates great interest. He looks a very good horse for Rob Heathcoate that comes here several weeks between runs since a spank job win over 1400m here, giving them a start and a beating in an electric performance. Fascinating to see where they go with him, whether they think he’s a Derby horse, or potentially a Stradbroke horse…either way, I think he wins this.

17 Exotique Miss (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has returned in beast mode it seems for Michael Nolan. She resumed with an absolute bang, winning over 1200m here two weeks ago where she got into a dream spot under Dolan before angling clear and gee she let down with purpose to gap her rivals. Not sure what the stable is thinking, whether she is an Oaks type…or could she put her hand up as a lightweight Stradbroke contender? Keen to see how she goes here.

16 Trifling (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one of the class runners of the field and that will carry her a long way. She ran several weeks ago at the Gold Coast in the 3YO Jewel when off a freshen up and she tried her guts out but couldn’t quite get there when fourth. Fitter and up in trip, maps to do no work, key chance.
