20/2/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Eagle Farm

Nine races will be run and won at Eagle Farm this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out 6.5 metres for the entire circuit.

On top is 7 Mishani Enchanted (Bet Now: $3.20), but not really a race I want to get involved in. Few weeks between runs since racing at the Sunny Coast where she was there to win and tried hard. Just no match for Glorious Ruby, an impressive winner last Saturday. Think that is the right form for this.

1 Habib (Bet Now: $3.30) looks a key threat. Debuted in the race mentioned above when well backed late. Thought Rodd gave him a peach steer and he looked the winner when the button was pushed. Just was outgunned on the line by Release The Beans. Respecting the market support he had that afternoon and is hard to beat.

Giving respect to 5 Yangari (Bet Now: $7.50) for the Rob Heathcoate stable. Resumed here two weeks ago at this trip and worked home pretty well late from off the speed when third to Mishani Delight. You’d like to think he will take good improvement from that and strikes a thin race here.

4 Joymaker (Bet Now: $6.00) is third up now for Kelly Schweida and should just about be at peak fitness. Good late fresh behind Roman Aureus, then race shape was against her two weeks ago behind Sea Raider, but the effort was more than sound. Gets a rise in trip, which I like, has upside, and if the inside gate is used to advantage, think she takes this out.

1 Foreign Territory (Bet Now: $3.90) is flying this time in for Stuart Kendrick. Ran over the mile here last time out when leading and looking to lead throughout. Gave a good kick but was nailed late by Quality Approach. Holding his form nicely this prep and with a good run near the front, he’ll take running down.

5 Orcein (Bet Now: $10.00) is an enigma but his best is clearly good enough to take this out. Didn’t really fire a shot behind Star Of Michelin three weeks ago but wasn’t terrible by any means on a track that played quite funny that afternoon. He’s in the right stable to bounce back, so watch the market.

Happy to butter up with 5 Devine Grey (Bet Now: $2.40). Matty Dunn has this mare flying at present, winning three of her last four. Got a soft lead when racing here two weeks ago and once she got that, it was race over because she was the lone horse in the race with a turn of foot and in the end, that was the difference. Reckon with a bunny to chase she is far more effective.

3 Happy Go Plucky (Bet Now: $2.50) is several weeks between runs since racing over 2000m at Doomben when sitting off the speed and working to the line pretty well despite seemingly having every chance when third to Dissolution, who has won again, so the form reads well, and 2200m is his pet trip.

Can make a case here for 1 Raqeeq (Bet Now: $7.50) at odds. Chris Waller trained stayer that is on the quick back up after racing over the mile last Saturday. Got back in the run and made up minor headway without threatening, pulling up with mouth lacerations post race. Good third up record and gets to a more ideal trip.

8 Pull Anchor (Bet Now: $2.70) looks the key threat and I think we now know for sure that 1400m isn’t her go. Given a peach by Maloney at that trip last start at the Sunny Coast. Just found one better in Lunar Light. Back to 1200m is a big positive for her…just a query of what is left in the petrol tank.

4 Wren’s Day (Bet Now: $3.70) is a quality animal for Cody Morgan that resumes. Had a decent run of things when with Godolphin and does bring with him some very strong form lines, including a last start Class 6 win. Now resumes in a Class 3, so in that regard, he’s well in and gets the claim for Leah Kilner, who is in form.

Best version of 1 Go Deep (Bet Now: $14.00) is capable. Stats don’t lie and I do feel he saves his best for Eagle Farm. Raced here behind Tesarc and ran well I thought after setting a decent tempo in front. Fought on strongly to run third. He’ll put himself on speed and give a great sight. Last bit will be the test.

1 Spurcraft (Bet Now: $3.50) is bursting to win another race and with a half decent steer, he wins this. Half decent steer, I think he wins last start at the Sunny Coast. It was ugly viewing from Jim Byrne. Just got into a terrible spot and rode for luck instead of playing the percentages. He’s flying this horse and think he can take this out.

3 Kylease (Bet Now: $2.80) is a speedy mare for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp that is three weeks between runs since leading throughout to win impressively at the Sunny Coast. She did get somewhat a bit of control in front and when she is running 33.16 last 600m, those behind had little hope. Off that effort, has to be respected here.

4 Invincible Al (Bet Now: $7.50) has been a grand campaigner for a number of seasons. He was solid against a far from ideal race shape behind Kylease three weeks back at the Sunny Coast. The winner ran a tick over 33 for the last 600m, so those behind were going to find it hard to figure in the finish. Knockout chance.

3 What The Fuss (Bet Now: $3.80) does seem better suited over the short course so back to 1000m I do like. Back to 1000m from 1350m within seven days is another matter, but I’ll back in the judgement of a very capable trainer, Kody Nestor. He was good last Saturday. Ran well. Just no match for impressive winner Express Princess. He won’t be lacking fitness that’s for sure if this is a testing 1000m.

6 Patches (Bet Now: $2.40) has returned in excellent order for Michael Nolan but just keeps finding one better. Was 1000m back to 900m with a break between runs when racing at the Gold Coast two weeks ago and he worked home strongly. Just couldn’t get past Beware, who led throughout and was too good. Fitter and up to 1000m, he can win.

2 Beware (Bet Now: $10.00) is a handy sprinter who wasn’t really wanted in betting when resuming over 900m at the Gold Coast, but a positive ride by Josh Adams from the outset saw him lead throughout and he was solid enough to the line in winning. Harder here, but has the right racing pattern to give himself every chance.

I’m with 6 Spokesman (Bet Now: $12.00). Chris Waller trained three year old that was ordinary two back at Warwick Farm over the mile behind Jungle Book (Luckless last Friday night). Spokesman came back to 1400m here two weeks ago and was good nearer the inside, strong to the line behind Tycoon Evie. Back up to the mile, think he’s hard to beat.

I was waiting and waiting for 4 Cosmic Gossip (Bet Now: $8.00) to find some form and she found it in spades on her home at the Sunny Coast last start. The key could well have been being ridden cold and having last look, where she really let down powerfully to win well. If she brings that here, she’s in the mix.

7 Calm Seeker (Bet Now: $23.00) should be suited up to the mile for Matty Kropp. Resumed behind Tycoon Evie a fortnight back. Got back to last in the run and didn’t exactly produce change up speed but was good late for a horse that will be better suited over further. Might need one more, but has more upside than most.

This is, overall, an ordinary 3YO race. For the sake of a tip, 3 Best Ever (Bet Now: $11.00) is on top. Formerly with Peter Moody, now finds himself with Matty Dunn. Regally bred colt that showed good promise in a couple of Victorian runs before being transferred. Looked good in a recent trial and finds a thin race to kick off his life with Matty Dunn.

5 Snitzari (Bet Now: $3.70) deserves another chance. Daughter of Snitzel for Kris Lees that ran at the Sunny Coast three weeks ago. Got caught wide from the gate and tried hard but the early burn just told on her late. First up win was good and far from disgraced in that Sunny Coast race. Definite winning chance.

10 Sweet Rhapsody (Bet Now: $9.00) is racing as this set up will be ideal. Ran over 1200m four weeks ago and worked home strongly from off the speed when fourth to impressive winner Bleu Zebra. Has the ability to sit closer in the run so if that eventuates, she can certainly take this out.

Think it’s a lovely race for the Chris Waller trained mare 10 Maddi Rocks (Bet Now: $4.80). She was very good in the Magic Millions F&M behind Krone before stepping up to this track/distance two weeks ago where she got back to near last before peeling wider and unleashing a powerful finishing burst, just missing out on picking up Sea Raider, who got it soft in front and was too good. Off a more genuine tempo, she’ll prove hard to beat.

4 Juventus (Bet Now: $9.50) has come back really well for Kris Lees and is bursting to win a race. Few weeks between runs since racing at the Sunny Coast in the Cup when sitting off the speed and chasing okay in defeat behind Emerald Kingdom. If you break down his form, it reads very well for a race like this.

12 Morendi (Bet Now: $67.00) will prefer it over longer, but he can pull out a decent run fresh. Hasn’t raced since November 28 at Doomben when wide no cover in a total forgive run behind Purrfect Deal. Resumes without a trial, but he does have a touch of quality when right and does save his best for Eagle Farm.

BEST BET: Race Five Number 1 Spurcraft

NEXT BEST: Race Two Number 4 Joymaker

LONG SHOT: Race Seven Number 6 Spokesman
