Ten races will be run and won at Ascot this Saturday for Ted Van Heemst Stakes Day. Weather is fine, track is good (4) and the rail is out five metres for the entire circuit.

8 Western Ace (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks hard to beat after a debut second over 1200m at Pinjarra, getting a fair way out of his ground and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was quite good to the line. Better for the run, Pike aboard, he has plenty in his corner to say he’s top seed.

11 Zali’s Gift (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bursting to win her maiden. Looked like it might come at Bunbury last start but she just found one better in a driving go, just missing. Racing well without winning, she should be around the mark once more.

4 Hope To Admire (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the quick back up after racing last Thursday at Pinjarra over 1300m. He got quite keen in the run behind the speed and had nothing left for the finale. Hit and miss, but his best is good enough to be a threat.

6 Articole (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a good mover for Steele Casey and I think he can make a winning debut. He has had extensive trial, both with Adam Durrant and Casey for start one, and pretty much every trial indicates he has talent. Market will be the guide but I say he’s here to run really well.

1 Long Laugh (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Belmont where the race shape suited those on speed and he tried hard but couldn’t quite pick up. More genuine tempo here, he’s dangerous.

2 Bosun (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Gingerbread Man making his debut for Mitch Pateman. The lead that he is talented is that he is five year olds and making his debut. Not often stables persist with a horse for so long so he must be showing them something at home and the trials are an indicator of that. Happy to be in his corner.

4 Call Me Frosty (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a smart youngster for Luke Fernie and I think can resume a winner in what looks an open contest. He has shown promise in his two start career and looks to have trialled up very well for the return. Happy to be in his corner.

2 Heaven Specified (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since an impressive win at Bunbury. The margin wasn’t impressive but it was the manner, sitting wide no cover throughout yet found under pressure and was strong to the line. Keen to see how he goes.

8 Heavenly Rapture (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Mitch Pateman trained filly that resumes after a debut at Pinjarra back in August when finding a heavy track and couldn’t pick her feet up. I think watch the market and see what it does.

6 He’s A Machino (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a smart colt for Maschino and confident he can make a winning debut. He has looked very strong in trial work for the debut, stable is flying with their juveniles and the big lead is that Pike will ride at start one.

1 Red Lark (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was an impressive winner two weeks ago at this track/distance, giving them a start and a beating in a sharp effort. Not sure he beats the stablemate but should run well and be around the mark.

4 Sovereign Rock (Bet Now:  $SP.00) resumes for Ryan Hill after debuting in October when on speed and tried hard but lacked stamina and was weak late. Better for that run and prep under the belt, he’s a first four threat.

1 Jaz Session (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has class on her side and I reckon that is going to carry her a long way. She ran over 1000m here two weeks ago where she got back and wide in the run, making up minor headway behind Black Ora. Back up to 1200m and back to Mares grade, she takes beating.

3 Lucky I Am (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since resuming over 1000m here when attempting to lead throughout and gave a strong kick from the front but had no answers late for Santanova. Fitter and up in trip, good racing style, she’s dangerous.

8 Hammarmill (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m here two weeks back. She got off speed and while she was never threatening, she kept chasing and was pretty good in defeat. She’ll likely get back in the run but will be effective at the end.

1 Ginger Green (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 2100m after racing over 1800m three weeks ago when off speed and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing in a good effort in defeat behind Forever Boy. Like him up in trip and strikes a winnable race.

4 Grand Reserve (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a tough winner a fortnight back over 2200m here. He knuckled down with purpose late to wear down Fame and score. Back in trip is fine, he’s found positive form…he can go on with it.

6 Candlelight Supper (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran over 2200m here two weeks back behind Grand Reserve, getting off speed and tried hard but was quite one paced in the run to the line. Hit and miss but her best is good enough to be a threat at odds.

10 Our Paladin Al (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks one of the better gambles on the card. He resumed over this track/distance two weeks ago when back near last in the run but worked home with real purpose late in the piece when third to Redback Flyer. Fitter, can settle closer, takes beating.

1 Trio (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1400m after a win over the mile two weeks ago, lifted over the line by Nash in a driving go to the line. I think back in trip is interesting but he will be strong late and has found positive form.

2 Without Reg (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a track/distance winner from two weeks back, getting the right run in transit just off speed before being presented clear air and he was impressive in the run to the line. Harder here but off last start, I say he’s in with a shout.

4 Redback Flyer (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was somewhat unwanted in betting when a first up track/distance winner two weeks ago, sitting on speed and he found plenty under pressure late to score. Good upside to come, good racing style, strong late…like him.

1 Memory Parade (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to the mile after racing over 2200m in the Towton Cup a fortnight back. She was thrown in the deep end but didn’t disgrace herself in defeat behind Buckets Ridge. Back to this level, she commands respect.

6 Blazing Emerald (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a pretty solid fourth at this track/distance two weeks back in a much stronger race, won by Trio. She was last in the run and made up okay ground without threatening. Think she is knocking on the door and can threaten.

1 Apulia (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the winner and likely wins the Perth Cup. He was good in the Northerly, getting back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he was solid late. Fitter, up in trip, Pike takes over…I think good luck beating him.

3 Diamond Scene (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran a beauty in the Railway before going to the Northerly where he was wide no cover on speed for the trip and the hard run just told on him late in the piece. Better run in transit, he is a definite improver.

8 Red Sun Sensation (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 1800m here where he got back in the run and didn’t really fire behind Forever Boy. The rise in trip I do like…doubt he wins but he can run top four.

9 Let’s Talk (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since a resumption at this track/distance. He got into a beaut spot in behind the speed and was there to win but didn’t fire, pulling up post race with a sore throat. If he is fit and firing, he can take this out.

1 Keep Ita Mystery (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1200m after a first up second over 1000m here a fortnight back when off speed, a fair way off, but was quite good late behind Black Ora when second. Better set up here, he appeals.

4 Prospector’s Pick (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a real eye catcher behind Black Ora two weeks back over 1000m here. He got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did close off strongly. Like him up to 1200m, he can win.
