Race 1. (15:00) Tick Homes Mdn Dash 1000m
6 Graysong (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to be a pretty sharp son of I Am Invincible on debut for the Price/Kent camp and confident he can make a winning debut. He’s had a good grounding for start one, with preps early last year before a prep this time in, with three jumpouts under the belt. He bolted up to win the latest and ran time in doing so. B Shinn on, drawn to get clear air, he’ll do me.
13 There There (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here with relatively fresh legs, having not raced since December 11 at Bendigo when wide throughout but kept on and was very good in defeat when third to Artimus Prime. Tick over jumpout at Cranbourne was a good piece of work, he gets J Kah, drawn out and I think back to 1000m will suit. Hard to beat.
4 Treotto (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) resumes for Mick Kent and is a market watch. This stable I am finding very hard to catch because their runners are going well but not winning. This guy had one prep in the Winter, where it saw him run third on a bottomless deck at Moe but did pull up with heat stress so forget he went around. The jumpout was nothing to jump up and down about but this race is a tad thin outside the first two.
Race 2. (15:30) Greenville Sprint (C1) 1000m
Hoping for sustained speed to come to the fore in the shape of 11 Smile And Wave (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) for Team Freedman. Not sure she beat much fresh at Mornington but she led throughout and spanked them in a dominant display, with the time being pretty good relative to the meeting. Takes on the older horses here, but jump/run is suited to the Flemington 1000m. Hard to beat.
1 Independent (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Reward For Effort resuming for Linc Sullivan. He did a good job in his first prep during the Winter, ending it with a couple of placings at Sandown at midweek level. Couple of solid trials to get ready for the return in town and good lead that they get D Oliver to steer, so I’d watch the market and see it what does with him.
9 Peri Peri Rich (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a market/yard watch. Resumes for Michael Huglin, having not raced since August 25 on a wet track at Bendigo and couldn’t fire a shot when down the track. I can’t find a jumpout for her so guessing where her fitness levels are at, but first up in town tells me she’s forward enough. Market will tell you either way.
Race 3. (16:00) Leap Real Estate Sprint-Rs0mw 1200m
9 Miss Middle Park (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top but not a race I am too confident about. First run for the Maher/Eustace camp came at Stony Creek in a low 58 where she looked a moral on paper and duly saluted despite seemingly not handling the track. Think she’ll love the more spacious surroundings that Flemington has to offer, got good upside and up to 1200m should be ideal.
8 Social Conscience (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) commands respect for Craig Blackshaw. Tick under four weeks between runs since racing at The Valley where he was just off the speed throughout and kept finding the line in a good effort when second to a tough nut, Magnum Bullet. Strong win the start prior at Cranbourne and he seems to be much more genuine this time around. Leading chance.
2 As I Please (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a very quirky animal that can be quite hit and miss but with his best, he’d beat these. Just depends what version turns up. Market said it was a prep run when resuming at Terang and he ran accordingly, bombing the start and failing to come on behind Lumber Punk. He has run well down the straight previously and drawn out, should get every chance.
Race 4. (16:30) Ms Peacock Kitchen Sprint-Bm64 1200m
Leaning towards 3 Pacific Ruby (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) to resume a winner for the Maher/Eustace camp. Had a two run Winter prep and won both races in style on wet ground. The recent jumpout was okay without being great, but I’ll bank on this stable getting her right to resume and drawn out, with J Kah aboard, she rates highly and is the one to beat.
9 Elegant Diva (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a daughter of Written Tycoon for Peter Moody that is first up. She had two runs to start her career in the Winter/Spring, winning with style on debut at Geelong before a down the track effort at The Valley, but she was looking for the paddock. Been given a good break and her jumpout work indicates she’s come back well. Key threat for sure.
1 Throntari (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) would spank these if she was near her best. Just not quite sure where she is at given she has been a bit on the plain side this time in, but that said, this is the easiest race she has contested for a long time and with the claim, there is enough to suggest she can run a much improved race. Knockout hope and a win wouldn’t shock at all.
Race 5. (17:00) Deane Lester Gofundme (Bm64) 1100m
I am a big fan of 10 Pink Cashmere (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) and am pretty keen on her chances. Debuted with an electric win on the Synthetic at Ballarat before having a couple of months break and going to The Valley where she did too much work in the run and was solid late in the piece behind Rich Fortune. Better for the run under the belt, I think she has a good engine under the hood and confident she can bounce back into the winners list.
Huge query on 1 Atlantis Tycoon (Bet Now:Β $SP.00), who resumes for Danny O’Brien. He is first up after a one run Spring prep, which came in the McNeil when back near last and was good late behind a star, Jacquinot. Just one jumpout to get ready for the return but the form around him, gee it reads well for this, so watch the market and see what it does with him.
3 The Guava (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should like the step up in trip and be one of the strongest at the end. He ran over 1000m at Sandown last time when run off his legs in a fast run 1000m race and worked home well without threatening behind Bistro, running on well to finish fourth. If he can settle a tad closer in the run, he will be dangerous with race fitness on his side.
Race 6. (17:30) Resimax Group Trophy (Bm70) 1100m
16 Hongbao (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for David Jolly and is hard to beat. He has done a super job since joining the stable, his latest run being three weeks ago at Morphettville when ridden somewhat upside down but class came to the fore and he was too good in a race which did have less depth than this, but the tick over trial was quite good and he is a line chaser.
8 Red Hot Nicc (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give a sight. He did that when racing at Sandown on Boxing Day and he tried his guts out but couldn’t quite finish it off and tired late to finish fifth to Snapped. I don’t think he is going well enough to take this race out, but with his racing style, he’ll give cheek and could pinch a first four spot at a price, especially if the track is playing towards those on speed.
5 Bullet Rider (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Formerly with Mark Newnham, he now finds himself with Ivan Lister. Normally, I am wary of horses leaving the Newnham camp given there isn’t much left in the tank when they leave, but this guy has looked to trial up really well for the first up run and has only had eight starts, so you’d like to think there is petrol left in the tank.
Race 7. (18:00) Eynesbury Golf Plate (64) 1100m
8 Zion (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks ready to rock and roll third up for local trainer Nick Ryan. He’s been excellent in two runs back. Can make a case to say he should have won fresh at Warrnambool but had zero luck. He then went to 1000m at Wangaratta where he got a fair way out of his ground but loved the way he found the line late when third to Lunar Hero. Back up to 1100m, hard fit with D Oliver, he’ll do me.
14 Senegalia (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key threat. Maher/Eustace trained mare that resumed over 1000m at Cranbourne where the market said she may need the run and that’s how it panned out when down the track behind Joseylin. Good second up record and drawn wide, she’ll get clear air from the outset and despite B Mertens riding well, it’s a big upgrade with J Kah taking over.
9 Opposing (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Team Hayes trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t raced since July 24 at Sale when back near last in the run and was very good late in the piece behind Field Of Roses, who was in form at the time. Jumped out well here last Friday and does tend to race best on the fresh side. Likely concedes a start but will be strong late.
