2/5/2026 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot, WA Sires’ Produce Stakes day

A nine race card has been assembled for Ascot on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out nine metres for the entire circuit.

3 Macciateau (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top in the opener but it’s not really a race I want to get involved in. He ran over 1800m here two weeks ago and was game in defeat I thought given he was wide no cover for the trip yet stuck on really well in defeat. Pike takes over and the extra 400m should be fine.

2 Rock In Wonder (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes through the Geraldton Cup when far from disgraced in defeat despite being outclassed on paper behind Royal Law. Back to this level, hard to beat if there is petrol left in the tank.

5 Beyond The Limits (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes straight to town for Susan Olive after a maiden win at Narrogin over 1900m where he beat nothing but the way he went about it was impressive and did win by a space. Good test here but think he can measure up.

1 Bartime (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1100m after a first up second over 1200m here two weeks ago. He was wide with cover before angling wider for clear air and tried hard but had to settle for a second. He’ll be strong at the end. Just needs to settle closer in the run.

4 Acorn (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 1000m here. He landed on speed and thought he was there to win but was no match late for Hezangelic when third. Think with a more patient steer, 1100m should be fine and he can win.

3 Go Go Grommet (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran second in the Hezangelic race. He had the box seat sit in behind the speed and was out in time to win I thought but the eventual winner was just too good. Tricky draw but with a positive ride, he can win.

6 Moonwalk (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the winner. Total forgive last Saturday at this track/distance behind Spellborn given she was held up most of the straight without room to move and pretty much went around like it was a barrier trial. If she gets room to move here, she’ll take holding out.

Good test here for 3 Scurgeofthewest (Bet Now:  $SP.00) given he is mainly a Geraldton specialist but he’s becoming too good for them in that part of the world. He now comes to town and despite the wide gate, he gets Pike to steer and commands respect.

5 Gold Maker (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1400m after running third over 1200m at Pinjarra. He got into a decent spot in transit and thought he was there to win but just whacked in the run to the line. Maps ideally, he’s one for exotics.

2 Miss Skyhigh (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for me. Several weeks between runs since racing over the mile here when off speed and kept chasing with purpose in a pretty good effort in defeat behind King Hit. Maps to settle just off the pace, be strong late and Pike takes over.

5 Antique Star (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has had a couple of runs at the mile now and is racing like a rise to 1800m will suit. Latest run was two weeks ago where she seemingly had her chance but she kept on and was far from disgraced in defeat. Key threat.

7 Gage Roads (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a total forgive from three weeks back over the mile here given he was wide no cover for the trip and the hard run just told late in the piece. Better run in transit here, he can run first four.

2 Exceed The Planet (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to have returned well and strikes a winnable race for mine. He resumed at this track/distance two weeks ago where he was near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, I really liked the way he finished his race off in defeat. Has a gate to settle much closer and be effective late.

8 Like Clockwork (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Michael Grantham trained filly that resumes. This girl is first up after a three run Summer prep to start his career, winning her first two before a third over 1000m here. Fresh at 1200m signals intent, trialled well and Pike rides.

6 Main Act (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got back to near last and was good late without threatening when fourth. If he can settle closer in the run, he’ll be dangerous at odds.

If 1 Snitzalatte (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can run the 1200m out strongly, she’s a clear top seed. 2/2 this time in, both over 1000m here, with the latest win being two weeks ago when driving hard late to finish best. Maps to do no work and has class on her side.

2 Hurricane Harley (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was an impressive track/distance winner from last Wednesday, leading throughout and gave nothing else a look in when winning well. Good test here, but with his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance.

6 God’s Rapture (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m here last Saturday where she tried hard but had to settle for a second to Spellborn. She’ll be strong at the end and has found positive form.

9 Arrangement (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for me. She ran last Saturday at this track/distance when just off speed before being presented clear air and loomed large to win but just couldn’t quite get there. Racing like she wants further but now gets Pike to steer and hopefully he can lift him late when it matters.

8 Hope To Rule (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect after a win over this trip at Pinjarra, leading throughout and she gave nothing else a look in to win and win well. Good racing style and off a win, she’ll take running down.

2 Crunchy Nut (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in the mix after running fourth last Saturday at this track/distance, closing well enough from off speed without really threatening. Much better suited at this level, he’s right in the mix.

2 Beatty (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is odds on but deserving of that quote given how good he is. I think he’s a rocket and most would agree he should have won the Karrakatta Plate. He was in the gates for 5-6 minutes and bombed the start. He did an amazing job to get as close as he did. Normal luck, he has lengths on these.

5 Clear Approval (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a nice horse. Stablemate of the favourite that won over this trip at Pinjarra, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive effort. Not sure he beats Beatty but I think he should be second pick in betting.

9 Ruthless Angel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) would have been a great place bet if she drew soft. The draw is tricky but I didn’t think she was too bad in the Karrakatta after getting back to last from the horror. Will need luck but can run first four.

9 Major Mario (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is worth a throw at the stumps in the last. His last run was Dec 6 over 2200m here when leading and tried hard but just felt the pinch late. He is better suited over further but can sprint well fresh and his recent trial win was sharp.

12 Too Darn Stormy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door for Dan Morton. He ran over 1200m here three weeks ago, settling off speed and worked home strongly but just missed out on the win. Like him up to 1400m, he’s in the mix.

3 Amjaad (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. She got stuck wide no cover for the trip and the hard run just told late in the piece. Better run in transit, she’s dangerous against these.

BEST BET: Race Eight Number 2 Beatty

NEXT BEST: Race Seven Number 9 Arrangement

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 9 Major Mario
