2/3/2024 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Eagle Farm

2 Appellant (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a filly with good talent. Lee Freedman trained filly that is over two weeks between runs since an electric debut win at Doomben where she led throughout and she gave nothing else a look in, winning quite impressively and running solid time. Good racing style and off that performance on debut, 1300m is fine and is hard to beat.

1 Enterprise Defence (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in a two start career for Stuart Kendrick. He has finished third in both runs, on debut at the Sunny Coast on the home deck before racing here where he kept finding the line in a good effort behind Whiskey. Racing like 1300m suits and has good upside I feel.

5 Wowzino (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Tarzino for David Vandyke that is on debut. This guy has had a couple trials in readiness for start one, where each time he hasn’t moved too bad but has looked a horse wanting more ground so a debut at 1300m I like and the stable is in form. One to watch from a market perspective.

3 Jungle Prince (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be given another chance. Team Sears trained three year old that was a dynamic winner on debut before going to the mile where he was quite keen in the run early, doing work, and that burn told in the straight as he tired to run fourth to stablemate Sharp Dazzler. Off the debut run, he’s a good horse so he deserves another look.

4 Texas Fireball (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the key threat, and I dare say the only threat. This gelding spanked them in a Grafton maiden two back before racing at Eagle Farm in the race mentioned above where he was near the speed and fought on really well, just proving no match late for Sharp Dazzler. 1800m should be fine and this isn’t a deep race.

5 New Joy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and he can certainly go on with it for Michael Nolan. He had the A1 run in transit at Ipswich last time. Just a matter of getting clear air and once he got it, away he went and was impressive in winning. Interesting he goes up in trip but he brings different form. Knockout hope.

2 Hold On Honey (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an O’Dea/Hoysted trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t raced since Oct 27 at the Sunny Coast where he ran over 1000m but was very much on the plain side, finishing down the track behind You’ll Be Mist. He loves Eagle Farm and can sprint well fresh, plus his recent trial was more than encouraging, so keen to see how he goes.

5 Fetch (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for O’Dea/Hoysted, having not raced since The Syndicate on Magic Millions Day when down the track behind Derry Grove. She sat on speed and failed to finish it off behind the Matty Dunn runner. She races best on the fresh side and the tick over trial win was sharp.

7 Charge On (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is first up for Adam Campton and is certainly dangerous here. This guy is first up, having not raced since Sep 24, his lone run for the prep, and was quite good in defeat behind Hakkai Maru over 1000m at the Sunny Coast. Trialled up really well at Beaudesert and with good speed in front, he can launch over the top.

4 Clyde (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be rated as one of the hardest to beat provided there is petrol left in the tank. Gee he was game in defeat here two weeks ago given the work he did in the run yet he kept finding in a very strong effort when a narrow second to Flying Joy. He has that 2200m run under the belt, which should hold him in good stead here.

Back up in trip looks ideal for 2 Ain’t He Grand (Bet Now:  $SP.00), who was 2100m back to 1800m when racing here a fortnight back. He was held up at times but did get clear and found the line strongly but couldn’t quite get there when third to Fleur Du Monde. He’s been up a while but is holding his form well and up in trip again, he appeals.

5 Deniliquin (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hit and miss but his best is good enough to be dangerous. He ran in the Flying Joy race from two weeks back. He had a suck run on the fence before taking the front and gave a mini kick but couldn’t see it through, ending up getting beat 2.7L by Flying Joy. Think with a more patient steer and a bunny to chase, he’ll be more effective.

11 Naval Trader (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate getting to 1400m for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp. He resumed three weeks ago over 1200m at Doomben where he got back from the wide gate to near last in the run and tried to get involved but was never a winning threat behind Strapparsi. Much better set up this time around and if he can settle closer in the run, he’ll take holding out.

7 African Daisy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a class edge and I reckon that carries her a long way. Annabel Neasham trained mare that ran at Eagle Farm four weeks ago when near the speed throughout and she tried her guts out but couldn’t quite get there when second to Bettcha The Crown. Tricky gate but will press forward and prove hard to get past.

6 Renouf (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will appreciate a rise to 1400m. Paul Jenkins trained mare that has been racing over sprint trips this time in, the latest being over 1200m two weeks back where she got back and was never really a factor behind Blue Spinel. Racing like 1400m suits and her best is more than good enough to give this a shake.

1 Quarantine Dreams (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness for Kris Lees. Latest run was two weeks ago over 1200m here when just off the speed before getting a split and driving hard, looking the winner for a few strides, but just found one better in Iron Grace. Like him up to 1400m and hard fit, he appeals.

4 Transatlantic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a promising colt for Tony Gollan that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since July 8 at Doomben where he ran a narrow second over 1350m at Doomben after getting off the speed and taking a while to wind up, so 1400m fresh here I do like, he’ll be strong late…likeable.

10 Petersham (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win. Tony Gollan trained mare that ran at this track/distance two weeks ago where she got a fair way out of her ground but really liked the way she found the line late in the piece when fourth to Seneschal. Bursting to win and if she can settle closer in the run, she’ll take holding out.

9 Orlabent (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should take beating here for Kris Lees. He was 1100m back to 1000m when racing at the Sunny Coast. He tried his guts out from off the speed but couldn’t quite get the win, having no answers late for the finale of Island Magic before going here when hailed as the winner but was nabbed on the peg. Up to 1200m, I think, it should be okay, and he strikes a very winnable race.

15 Baristasista (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. This mare sat on speed two weeks back, somewhat ridden upside down, and she was game in defeat but did feel the pinch late in the piece behind Blue Spinel. I think with a more conservative steer and a bunny to chase, she’ll be more effective and can run an improved race.

5 Treporti (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable with his best. He has had a couple of runs for Harry Richardson, both over 1200m. Latest was three weeks back at Doomben where he got back off the speed and was close up in defeat in a solid effort behind Strapparsi, beaten just under two lengths. Hard fit now, he can run an improved race.

5 Millane (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has returned in super order it appears. Market wanted him with confidence when resuming over this track/distance two weeks ago where he had a suck run in transit before getting inside splits and he dashed late to get the win and a much needed confidence boost. He has good improvement to come and off that win, he’s hard to beat.

12 Outlawed (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Rob Heathcoate trained mare that resumes. She really came of age when last in work, winning a host of races in town and establishing herself as a city class mare. Her best efforts have come at Doomben so can she translate it to Eagle Farm? Not sure, but her trial was strong.

11 Jayanthi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a big improver here I feel. She comes through the Northern Express race mentioned above. She had a suck run on the fence and did let down nicely when asked but the last little bit, she just lacked the killer blow on the wet ground. Firmer footing here, jockey upgrade, she’s a knockout hope.

11 Grand Meteor (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a daughter of Deep Field that is heading in the right direction for Tony Gollan. Did more than enough on debut here behind Magic Island before going to Doomben where she found the front over 1110m and made a mess of them in an impressive display. 1400m is the query but with front end control, potentially, she’ll take running down.

2 Sharp Dazzler (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in a purple patch for Team Sears and rates as one of the hardest to beat. This guy ran over the mile two weeks ago here where he gave them a start and a beating in an impressive display. Back to 1400m I find very interesting but with good speed engaged, he’ll be very strong at the end.

6 Three Gongs (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in three career outings for Annabel Neasham. He is several weeks between runs since a gutsy win at Gatton when on speed and credit to him, he was challenged but he found under pressure to fend them off and win. Steps up a fair bit in class, but he’s tough, honest, and should be around the mark.

9 Ocean Zar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is putting together a tidy record for O’Dea/Hoysted and is hard to beat. This mare is several weeks between runs since an arrogant win over 1400m here, sitting off the speed before angling clear and she made a mess of them late, winning impressively. 1600m should be fine and in a race lacking serious depth, I’ll go with this mare on the up.

11 Russian Mystic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over 1350m, his third run on the bounce at the trip, where again he found the line well after getting back off the speed. Racing like he will eat up a mile on the bigger track and he gets that set up here.

8 Kinetic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is nearing a win I feel for Tony Gollan. Three weeks between runs since racing over the mile at Doomben when just off the speed and tried her guts out but couldn’t quite get there when a narrow third to O’Miss Behaving. She has a good record at Eagle Farm and the way she is racing, finding positive form, she can take this out.

NEXT BEST: Race Eight Number 5 Millane

LONG SHOT: Race Six Number 1 Quarantine Dreams
