2/11/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville

Melbourne Cup Day racing in Adelaide heads to Morphettville for a nine race card. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out twelve metres from the 1200m-Winning Post; Out seven metres for the remainder.

I’ll take a punt with 8 Mikki Mouse (Bet Now: $7.50), a Team McEvoy trained filly that is on debut and this stable are hard to beat with their first starters. Thought he moved well in a trial at Balaklava a couple of weeks back in okay time and overall, I don’t think this race is strong, so I’ll bank on the reliable Vorster/McEvoy combo.

7 Flying Barty (Bet Now: $3.20) is on the quick back up for Will Clarken. She resumed last Saturday on the Parks track where I thought Pannell gave her every chance but she couldn’t quite finish it off when third to Rastelli. You’d like to think she’ll improve with that under the belt and is a key chance.

9 Sadler’s Song (Bet Now: $19.00) is a daughter of Super One that resumes. This girl had a two run prep in the Autumn to start her career and didn’t exactly set the world on fire in a couple of plain efforts. Been given a good break and thought her recent Balaklava trial was very encouraging.

2 Carry The Musket (Bet Now: $2.15) is a key threat. He resumed in a 1400m maiden on Murray Bridge Cup Day. Market didn’t want a bar of him late but he worked home pretty well from off the speed, finishing third. Tricky draw to overcome, but fitter and up to the mile suits.

6 Family Addition (Bet Now: $2.80) is a progressive gelding for Mick Huxtable that is in with a shout here. Wasn’t too bad on debut at Balaklava behind Hello Ladies. Then went on speed at Naracoorte and fought on gamely when third. 1600m should be okay and this is a thin race.

12 True Aim (Bet Now: $9.50) has no weight on her back and can sneak a first four spot. Ran last start in a maiden over 1400m at Naracoorte. She got a fair way back in the run and was never really a winning threat, but liked her finale when fifth. Not sure I could back her to win, but is a first four contender.

Looks a good set up here for 5 Capricorn Ridge (Bet Now: $3.40). Matty Seyers trained gelding that was seven weeks between runs when racing over 1400m on Murray Bridge Cup Day and was good late from the back behind Splash Come Cash, who went close to winning the Gawler Cup, so the form reads well and fitter, up to the mile, he’s hard to beat.

2 Sebonna (Bet Now: $3.40) is a talented animal for Peter Hardacre. He had the A1 run in transit on Gawler Cup Day and once Zechner gave him clear air on the turn, it was race over and he spanked them. Yet to really prove himself in town but off last start, he’ll run well against this lot.

6 Iowa Hawkeye (Bet Now: $11.00) comes here as a last start Saturday winner so he commands respect here. Three weeks between runs when getting the job done over 1550m on the Parks track, sitting just off the speed and coming with a well timed run under Caboche. Bit more depth here, but hard to knock the last start performance.

4 Sacred Armour (Bet Now: $2.50) for me. Travis Doudle trains this former Kiwi, who made his Australian debut in a maiden on Gawler Cup Day where he was smashed in betting and duly saluted in a dominant display under Hurdle. Harder here, but he looks progressive and is hard to beat here.

2 Full Probe (Bet Now: $3.80) is an interesting runner. Formerly with Rob Hickmott, he now finds himself with the Jolly camp. Had three runs for the former stable, the latest being a spank job on the Synthetic at Ballarat in a maiden. Two quiet jumpouts to get ready, watch the market.

1 Tradewind (Bet Now: $5.50) is a big market watch here. Ryan Balfour trained galloper that returns to racing as a gelding after showing good promise during the Autumn, so much so that the stable sent him around in the Tobin Bronze. Two jumpouts and a trial suggest he’s ready to go.

11 Vintage Folly (Bet Now: $2.60) gets the nod, just. Team McEvoy filly that debuted in a maiden here when wide no cover on speed and tried her heart out but had to settle for a narrow third to Residue, who was fair on Saturday, so not strong how the form is, but upside and in the right camp.

1 Johnny Thunder (Bet Now: $2.80) has had numerous chances to break the maiden but is an honest type and should be around the mark. Looked the winner when presented in that maiden mentioned above, but was nabbed near the peg by Residue. He’ll look the winner again. Does he gave that winning desire?

5 Wicked Addiction (Bet Now: $19.00) is a son of Ambidexter for Kym Healy that is on debut. He is bred to be an okay animal and is related to winners. This stable do generally get better with their runners as their prep goes on, but in a potentially winnable race, watch the market.

Bit of a lottery this, so going to have a throw at the stumps each way in the shape of 6 Lope De Wolf (Bet Now: $7.00), who resumes for the Francis/Kent team. This guy hasn’t raced since July 3 at Murray Bridge where he was a month between runs and failed to fire a shot behind a handy horse, Munster. A trial and jumpout to get ready, I think he’s worth an each way speck in a very even race.

I’ve been with 3 Two Odd Sox (Bet Now: $3.80) on a number of occasions and he has let me down, so I can’t back him to win with confidence but he’s dangerous in a race like this. Resumed on Gawler Cup Day and looked home he took the gap but was bloused late, getting another placing. His best likely sees him win…just hasn’t done it for a long time.

9 You Es Marshal (Bet Now: $9.50) will put himself on speed and looked to give his all. He tried to do that first up at Penola but condition just gave way late when fourth. Gets in well after the claim and with early speed, I think he can give a sight despite the last bit being the test.

Back a fair bit in grade/depth and back to 1100m, I think 1 Diamonds (Bet Now: $4.40) is beautifully placed here. Ran last Saturday over 1300m on the Parks track where she tried hard from off the speed but seemed to have her chance behind Another Award. Much better suited over the shorter trip, with first up being at this track/distance when 2.4L away in the Listed Whylie. Brings that here, she wins.

3 Champs D’Or (Bet Now: $10.00) has only won the one race, but she does have her share of talent for the McEvoy camp. Notable betting drift on her at Hamilton last time but she led and looked home, only to be nabbed in the last hope. Lands near the front here and with the claim, she’s well in.

6 Ultimate Addiction (Bet Now: $8.00) is racing really well at the moment for the Francis/Kent camp. Strong maiden win two back at Balaklava. Had a mini freshen up and raced here a few weeks ago where she loomed to win but was no match for a very much in form Outpost. Hard to beat if she holds her form.

Trying to find different form, and I think 4 Wings Of Pastrami (Bet Now: $7.50) is that. The 2500m is the query with her, but I just don’t think she’s a leader, which is what she tried to do last time, only run down late by Marymount Lass. I reckon with a cold ride, she has the change up speed to beat these.

1 Slipintothis (Bet Now: $3.40) is the most consistent animal in the field and is a stayer so the 2500m should be no issue. Last start on the Parks track, he looked gone on the turn after copping pressure on speed but he stayed on and was only nabbed late. No work from the draw and is hard to beat.

2 Exalted Ambition (Bet Now: $10.00) is a hard fit horse for Grant Young that will put himself on speed and try hard. He did that in the Parks race mentioned above won by Smiling Assassin but was game in defeat after doing plenty of work. Not sure he wins, but a first four contender.

4 Tahnee Tradition (Bet Now: $1.85) is a progressive mare for the Peter Hardacre camp that I think can win again. Smashed in betting on Murray Bridge Cup Day and the bets were landed. Sat back off the speed before easing into clear and once Gatt pushed the button, away she went and was dominant. Only has to hold her form and I think she wins again.

2 We Will Remember (Bet Now: $7.00) can bounce back here. Will Clarken trained gelding that was a dominant maiden winner two back at Gawler. He then raced at Murray Bridge when on speed and tired late behind Tahnee Tradition in that race mentioned above. Good SP profile for him here and stable can get them to bounce back.

5 Shopster (Bet Now: $19.00) is big odds here, likely due to the unfashionable trainer/jockey combo. If it was more fashionable, I dare say she would be single figures, because her run last time on the Parks track behind Hearty lass was a beauty. I think if she holds her long price, she’s worth a speck each way.

LONG SHOT: Race Six Number 6 Lope De Wolf
