2/11/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot, Burgess Queen Stakes day

A bumper ten race card has been set down for Ascot on Tuesday for Burgess Queen Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (7) and the rail is out thirteen metres for the entire circuit.

Tricky race to start the meeting. Leaning towards 5 Electric Rose (Bet Now: $12.00), who was an impressive maiden winner at Northam last time, producing sharp late speed from off the pace to get the job done in good style. Back up to 1100m, she won’t be far away and can launch at these late.

2 Magic To Exceed (Bet Now: $3.40) is a Team Casey trained three year old that resumes. Hasn’t raced since a strong debut win at Belmont back in May when getting the job done on speed over 1200m. Couple of trials to get ready for his return and interesting he resumes with Blinkers on first time.

1100m is on the short side for 6 Sparkling Blue (Bet Now: $3.80), but she looks a talented filly. Resumes for Adam Durrant, having not raced since a sharp debut win over 1300m at Belmont back in August. Sharp Lark Hill trial to get ready. If they overdo it in front, she’ll be charging late.

11 Glacier Miss (Bet Now: $4.20) will need luck from the gate but she’s bursting to break the maiden tag. Just missed two back when a narrow second to Electric Rose. That was at 1000m at Northam. She then went to 1100m and again was good from the back. Likely to get snagged back from the wide draw, but she’ll be motoring late.

7 He’sgotwings (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to have his share of talent for Martin Allan. Trialled up well prior to debuting over 1100m at Northam. He was back off the speed and worked to the line strongly when second Dais, who looks an above average type, so think the form reads well and similar to Glacier Miss, needs luck from the gate.

1 Miami City (Bet Now: $8.50) has done well in maiden races at metro level, but I do find it interesting he resumes at 1200m given he does seem more effective over a shorter trip. One soft trial leading in to get ready but Mitch Pateman does ride him well, so watch the market.

5 Kentucky Blue (Bet Now: $8.00) is a progressive three year old for Neville Parnham that will do me here in an even race. Has steadily got better with each run this prep and was rewarded with a maiden win over 1500m here, sitting wide with cover, keen in the run, but was still able to finish best. Finds a winnable Class 3 and Chris Parnham steers.

1 Pambella (Bet Now: $3.70) has the best form on the board, but winning isn’t a regular habit for her. In saying that, she did win two back at Northam. Then raced at this track/distance at Saturday metro level and made up ground behind the very much in form Roman Flirt. That form reads well for this.

4 Doowahdiddy (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a mare in form so will be interesting to see how she goes at metro level. Dominant win two back at Toodyay before unleashing a strong finale from the back to win over 1400m at Geraldton. The way she is racing, 1600m suits and has to be respected.

I’m with 4 Mantelli (Bet Now: $5.00), a former Queenslander who has been solid in two runs for the Gangemi camp. First up was a close up fourth to Tradement at Belmont. He then raced over 1200m here and seemed to have his chance. Just couldn’t quite put them away. Reckon a fast run 1100m will suit him.

2 Bedouin Belle (Bet Now: $3.10) is a Lou Luciani trained mare that is honest and should be around the mark. She is over a month between runs since a sitting in the second half of the field at Belmont and made up okay ground without threatening. Good record at the track/distance and has a bit of class on her side against this lot.

1 Human Nature (Bet Now: $4.40) will put himself on speed and give his all. Both runs back from a break have come at Geraldton. Went at a good clip in front last start and gave a good kick, but just couldn’t quite finish it off when third to Startrade. He’ll likely be near the front. Last bit will test.

10 Crypto Queen (Bet Now: $1.95) should take beating here. Brian Kersley trained mare that resumes, having not raced since July 28 where she led and tired late behind the very much in form Wilchino, with that form reading so well for a race like this. Good trial to get ready, stable finds Parnham, she’ll do me.

11 Go Forward (Bet Now: $6.00) should be suited up in trip for the Gangemi camp. First run for the stable came over 1000m here and he was a real eye catcher from the back when third to Triple Missile, who looks well above average. Luck from a tricky gate, he’ll threaten for sure.

2 Grand Design (Bet Now: $15.00) is a definite market watch here. Formerly with David Harrison, this mare now finds herself with Roy Rogers and always have to respect this stable when they come to town, especially first up. Resumes without a public trial but her best is certainly good enough.

D-Day for 11 Arcadia Grace (Bet Now: $1.60). Blinkers on first time, will this elevate her to a level that she has threatened to live up to, or is she just no good? I was really keen on her in the Belgravia and yes, she was held up for a few strides, but overall, she had her chance. Blinkers on, back in grade, one last chance.

3 Flicka’s Chance (Bet Now: $3.00) looks a key threat. Put together a couple of wins on the bounce before racing over 1200m here when off the speed and tried hard, but in a sit/sprint, he couldn’t pick up when third to Apple Schnapps. To me, that says that he wants further, which he gets here.

2 Chiclett (Bet Now: $2.90) is a Team Pearce trained mare that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since April 28 over the mile here when a close up fourth in a small field after seemingly getting every chance behind the speed. Just one quiet trial to get ready, watch the market with her.

I think 7 Mrs America (Bet Now: $2.40) can bounce back. This filly was dominant when a debut winner at Northam. Then raced there again on testing ground and failed to pick her feet up, and I’m suggesting that the wet track brought her undone. Firmer footing here, she can bounce back.

9 Patchwork (Bet Now: $3.50) commands respect. Martin Allan trained filly that debuted in a Geraldton maiden where she was kept very safe in betting as favourite and under a lovely ride from Jordy Turner, she produced a good finale from off the speed to win well. Harder here, but she looks a likely type.

2 Quan (Bet Now: $27.00) hasn’t done much wrong in two runs back from a break, both runs coming at Geraldton. Landed good bets when a dominant maiden winner before stepping up to a Class 1 when off the speed and chased strongly when third to Triccy Trix. Harder here, but I think a rise to 1400m suits.

Have to butter up with 6 Frequent Friar (Bet Now: $11.00). I was keen on him last start over the mile here and in the run, he looked to be going well and tracking up nicely, but couldn’t quite finish it off. Blinkers off for the rise in trip and with a good third up record, have to give him another chance.

11 English Bay (Bet Now: $5.50) is a little query at 1800m, but is lightly raced and has more upside than most. Led throughout and was a dominant maiden winner over 1400m at Geraldton, kicking strongly when required and safely holding his rivals at bay. Like that Parnham steers and should be on speed, proving hard to beat.

8 Heaps Of Moolah (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness. Both runs back from a break have come over the Northam mile, both times racing like he wants further. Like the rise in trip for him and he does have a good record at Ascot.

3 Searchin’ Rocs (Bet Now: $6.00) could be a Kingston Town filly. There was a lot of quality about her win in the Belgravia, and what was impressive is that it was 1200m, a trip clearly short of her best from what she did as a juvenile and on breeding. Fitter, up to 1400m, she’ll take a power of beating.

It’s always a tough ask finding the Bob Peters filly that could be the Kingston Town 3YO. It could well be 10 Treasured Star (Bet Now: $2.25). I thought it would be Arcadia Grace but she hasn’t quite gone on with it. This girl has been outstanding in two starts/wins this prep. She looks like a potential star and the obvious lead is that Pike steers.

5 Fatale Femme (Bet Now: $35.00) can sneak a first four spot. She resumed in the Belgravia when dragged back from the wide gate but liked the way she finished her race off behind Searchin’ Rocs. She can settle much closer in the run from the draw and is one I can include in multiples.

The ferals will be out in force. Last race, a race in two to my eye, one of them having W Pike steering. I’m going the other way though via 1 Mercanto (Bet Now: $3.30), who produced very good change up speed from off the speed to win impressively fresh over 1300m at Northam. Back to 1200m I hate, but a good speed in front, he’ll get his chance to finish over the top.

4 Airlie Queen (Bet Now: $2.70) has done little wrong in two runs back from a break, both runs coming at Northam. Solid third fresh before Pike jumped on last time where he rode the mare positively and she was much too good. Wide draw, so I suspect they’ll restrain for cover and launch late.

8 Saturday Sun (Bet Now: $10.00) is a must for exotics. I’d be forgiving of the run last start at Northam when wide no cover for the trip and just feeling the pinch late. Much better draw this time around and should get an economical. I doubt he wins, but he’s a first four threat.

NEXT BEST: Race Nine Number 1 Mercanto

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 6 Frequent Friar
