2/10/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville

The Parks track at Morphettville on Saturday will play host to a nine race card. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

3 Somewatt Fabulous (Bet Now: $2.40) is a talented filly for Team Jolly that resumes. This girl had a two run prep in Winter to start her career, winning impressively on debut here before going to Flemington where she ran a close up third to Celestial Fury. Didn’t mind her trial to get ready and she could well be above average.

4 Tavikat (Bet Now: $2.90) is still a maiden but he looks the leader and we know that spot is A1 run for this track. He seemingly had every chance last time out but was no match late for Wheels Of Courage. He’ll lead, control and look home…last bit will test.

5 Hopon Harry (Bet Now: $3.10) is a working progress for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp and is certainly a winning threat. Ran over 1200m on the course proper two weeks ago and closed off his race with real purpose when third to Ballynora. I think come the Autumn, he’ll be a Carnival contender. He can win this.

2 All Banter (Bet Now: $1.65) has a bit of class/quality about her and I think that will get her home here. She resumes for Team Jolly, having not raced since Feb 27 when far from disgraced in the Bob Hoysted at Flemington behind straight track gun Fabergino. Unbeaten here, looked great in a trial win…just points to her.

1 Dexelation (Bet Now: $10.00) is a son of Ambidexter first up for Team Jolly and I think runs well. He was around the mark without winning during the Autumn/Winter, which included a solid effort in the Monash behind Red Can Man. He normally needs a run or two before finding his best, but has residual fitness.

3 Star Hills (Bet Now: $21.00) saves his best for the Parks track so an improved showing is on the cards. Few weeks between runs since a plain effort here behind Free Of Debt on testing ground. That horse went on to win the Whylie so the form has been ticked off and his best is good enough to be dangerous at odds.

11 Totally Discreet (Bet Now: $2.45) for me. Phillip Stokes trained filly that has only had one career outing, which came in the Autumn in the Without Fear, where she was kept very safe in betting, but it all came around too soon for her. Spelled, trialled really well leading in and drawn a good gate, she’ll be hard to beat.

6 Squizzy Mizzy (Bet Now: $2.90) is a stablemate of Totally Discreet that resumes. Was formerly with Dennis O’Leary but is now with Stokes and gee she looked to trial up enormously when bolting up in fast time on this track. Market will be fascinating, especially with the claiming apprentice steering.

1 Johnny Thunder (Bet Now: $5.00) is a son of Nostradamus that resumes for Will Clarken. This guy was formerly with Michael Moroney. Had one run for Clarken at Cranbourne back in May when fourth, a beaten favourite after sitting on speed. Given a good break, trialled nicely and should land in a plum spot from the draw.

I’d love a market push for 4 Robe Bay (Bet Now: $5.00). Peter Hardacre trained mare that just brings better form than this lot. Just depends where she is at re fitness levels because I can’t find a recent jumpout for her. Her runs towards the end of last prep were at least in 76 grade. Resumes in a 68, if she’s ready to go, I think she wins.

6 Apache Star (Bet Now: $3.10) is a Phillip Stokes trained gelding that is several weeks between runs since a strong win over 1550m here. It was an all the way triumph and what I liked about the win is the ticker he showed. He was there to be beaten but he found plenty under pressure and was too good. He’ll be on speed and looking the winner for a fair chunk of the race.

5 Exalted Fire (Bet Now: $5.50) is racing well for Grant Young and is a key threat. Game effort I thought a fortnight back on the course proper here when second to Wild Imagination, fighting on strongly and just missing out on the win. Been around the mark in recent times and expect something similar.

If the last start effort hasn’t busted 1 Tinandali (Bet Now: $2.20), he’s the one. He was enormous in defeat two weeks ago. Wide throughout, pressed forward to sit on speed and was only getting the staggers very late. Gets in well after the claim and should get a much better run in transit.

7 All Hard Wood (Bet Now: $6.50) has found winning form and has to be respected. Game third to Melody Man two back before turning the tables on that a fortnight back, sitting off a good speed before peeling wider into clear air and finishing best. Now he has a win, can he go on with it?

10 Lord Gododdin (Bet Now: $41.00) is three weeks between runs since racing on the course proper here. He sat back in the field early before making a mid race move and was there to be a threat on the turn but just lacked the class to put them away and ran fourth. Not sure he wins, but a first four threat.

2 Jaamint (Bet Now: $2.80) will put herself on speed and give her all. That was the case two weeks back on the course proper here. Sat outside the speed and tried hard, but couldn’t quite finish it off when fourth to Wild Imagination. Better suited on the Parks track and can bounce back.

5 Cold Beers (Bet Now: $11.00) is an interesting runner. Formerly with Paul Preusker, she now finds herself with David Jolly. Her last run was a few weeks ago at Casterton where she had the A1 run in transit but had to take a while to get into her work, but once she did, she got there. She has the form around her to go close here.

3 Lucky Dog (Bet Now: $6.00) is 2/2 this time in and deserves a crack at Saturday metro level. Lovely ride saw him win last Wednesday at Oakbank, sitting off the speed, trucking in the run before peeling into clear air finishing best. Harder here, but he has earned a crack and I think runs well.

Back to 1400m is a big tick for 3 Ritratto (Bet Now: $3.70) IMO. He ran over the mile in the Balaklava Cup. He was near the speed throughout, a genuine tempo, and battled on okay behind Winning Partner. Good record on the Parks track and on speed, he can dominate proceedings and prove hard to get past.

9 Debt Collector (Bet Now: $15.00) should be better for the run under the belt, which came a few weeks back on the course proper here when good late from off the speed behind Lombardo. That was his first run in five weeks, so you’d like to think there is improvement to come and up to 1400m, he’s hard to beat.

11 Magnetic Edge (Bet Now: $5.50) is on the seven day back up after racing here last Saturday. Not sure he was going to win but should have finished closer, just getting squeezed of clear air late in the piece behind Sign Of Ussuri. I like him back to 1400m and a win wouldn’t shock at all.

8 Valuable Witness (Bet Now: $3.40) on top. David Jolly trained three year old that resumes, having not raced since April 24 when an impressive debut winner at Murray Bridge, a race which has produced five winners, the runner up Lomax going on to be a Saturday winner. Jumpouts leading in have been strong and with a hot early speed in front, he’ll get his chance to finish over the top.

6 Akkacan (Bet Now: $9.00) is always thereabouts at this level. Gee he looked the winner when he loomed here last Saturday, but it’s as soon as the button is pushed, he flattens out and doesn’t find any more. He’ll run well, look the winner at some stage I’m sure…just backing him to win is another thing.

3 French Rock (Bet Now: $18.00) is a knockout chance. Ran last Wednesday at Oakbank and to the eye, I thought he was a bit on the plain side, but I just think the tempo wasn’t his go. Much better suited here and his prior efforts suggested a win wasn’t too far away at metro level.

More often than not, these Will Clarken runners keep progressing and I suspect that will continue via 9 Castle Of Kings (Bet Now: $2.70), a former Kiwi who has taken a little while to find his feet down under but he got the maiden win out of the way last start at Gawler, bolting up by five in a good performance from on speed. Didn’t beat much, but that’s the confidence boost he needed to measure up in town again.

1 Mayan (Bet Now: $5.00) gets in quite well after the claim and is racing well. Ran over 1200m on the course proper here two weeks ago and closed off his race alright albeit had his chance when second to impressive winner Thrill Kill. I think that form reads well for this.

6 So You Can (Bet Now: $6.00) is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness. He ran in the Thrill Kill race mentioned above. He sat off the speed and tried to make up ground, but the wheels were spinning on the shifty track. Firmer footing, he can bounce back.
