Ten races will be run and won at Rosehill on Saturday for Winter Challenge Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

6 Alphard (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate home track advantage for Chris Waller after debuting last Wednesday at Canterbury where not much went right for him and it was pretty much a barrier trial when fourth. If the breaks go his way, he can win.

10 Sapling (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Sara Ryan trained juvenile that comes back to 1200m but is a last start winner over 1300m at Wyong, leading throughout and gave nothing else a look in to win well. More depth here but hard fit and off a win, she rates highly.

1 The Magic Man (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improver for Paul Perry. He resumed on the Kenso and was too bad to be true when down the track behind a little rocket, Raging Force. The draw is tricky but has a good record at Rosehill. Dangerous with his best.

8 Close Encounter (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing like a rise to 1300m will be ideal. Kerry Parker trained gelding that ran behind African Daisy in the Midway a fortnight back here. He got a fair way out of his ground but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off in defeat. If within range, he has the finale to be dangerous.

6 Harry’s Bar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should be at peak fitness. She did more than enough fresh here behind Lady Extreme in a Midway before going to the midweeks at Canterbury where she seemed to have her chance but was solid in defeat. Back to Midway grade, she appeals.

5 Nosey Parker (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in with a shout. He ran over 1300m on the Kenso at Randwick last time when getting a fair way out of his ground but was good late without threatening behind Getafix. Like him back to Midway grade, he’s in with a shout at odds.

8 Veecee (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one of the better each way gambles on the program. Cassie Schmidt trained gelding that ran over this trip at Port Macquarie last start and was one of the runs of the meeting I thought, closing with real purpose late in the piece against the race shape and track pattern. If he can use the inside gate to advantage, he’ll only run well.

4 Shropshire Lad (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks suited back to 1100m for Rod Northam. He ran over 1200m in a Highway at Randwick last time where I just don’t think he ran out the six furlongs when down the track behind Calico Miss. Fresh legs and back to 1100m, he appeals.

6 Ritzsun (Bet Now:  $SP.00) finds it hard to win but he is a model of consistency that is rarely far away. That was the case at Scone last start on the home deck. He had a suck run in transit and was there to threaten but just couldn’t quite get there when third to Defiant Heart. One for exotics I say.

2 Mr Verse (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a progressive galloper for Team McEvoy and I am confident he can measure up here. He resumed with a bang two weeks ago at the Sunny Coast, getting better as the race went on and knuckled down with purpose late to score. Jumps in trip, which is fine, and has enormous upside.

3 Maori Chief (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Chris Waller since racing over 1400m at Randwick when off speed and finished strongly late but just couldn’t quite get there when third to Puntin. Like him up to 1500m and strikes a winnable race.

7 Hopper (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can run an improved race for Peter Snowden. He took on the older horses at Warwick Farm last time and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through behind impressive winner Nana’s Wish. Back to his own age (somewhat), firmer deck, he can win.

2 Flying Destiny (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hard to beat for Michael Freedman. He ran three weeks ago at this track/distance when on speed, giving a very strong kick from the front but was nabbed right on the peg by Lady Extreme. Good racing style and seems to have found a winnable race.

8 Unstopabull (Bet Now:  $SP.00) had a mini let up prior to racing at this track/distance a fortnight back, getting a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, I really liked the way he finished his race off behind Lady Extreme. He’ll spot them a start but should be strong at the end.

3 Walkintalkin (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came here three weeks back behind Lady Extreme. He got near the speed and tried hard but first up, condition just gave way late in the piece. Fitter, his best is good enough to be dangerous.

7 Tulleries (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the winner if she’s ready. She resumes for Peter Snowden, having not raced since the 3YO Magic Millions where she was one of the runs of the race in defeat behind impressive winner Bosustow. Trial work has been strong, she just needs to overcome the gate and she is the likely winner.

2 Queen Of The Mile (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. She ran here a fortnight back when getting a decent run in transit behind the speed but just couldn’t quite finish her race off in defeat behind Hi Dubai. Hard fit, 1200m, her best is good enough.

9 Useapin (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came here two weeks back over 1100m where she just found them a bit sharp but wasn’t too bad late in the piece. Better for the run and up in trip, she’s dangerous for sure.

6 Impunity (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He ran over 1800m here three weeks back when off speed and was a bit on the one paced side but kept finding the line in defeat behind Misterkipchoge. First four threat with good upside.

2 Cormac T (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing like 2400m will be ideal and is in good form. His last couple of runs have come over 2000m, the latest being here two weeks ago when near the speed and presented to win but just couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Good Banter. Like him up in trip and takes beating here.

1 Monarchs Brae (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes to town off the back of a metro win at Canterbury when leading throughout and credit to him, he was there to be run down but he found under pressure to fend them off and score. Hard fit, 2400m, I think, is okay…leading chance.

14 Catch The Glory (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the one if she’s ready to go. Jason Coyle trains this talented filly, who resumes. Her last run came in the Darby Munro when far from disgraced in defeat behind Baby Winx aka Autumn Glow. Her two trials have been electric. Just hope she doesn’t concede too much head start.

4 Our Kobison (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Angela Davies, having not raced since the Lightning at Eagle Farm when resuming and just looked in need of the run behind Vodka Martini. Better for the run and he loves racing at Rosehill. Can bounce back hard.

12 South Of India (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and look to give his all, as seen a few weeks back in the Bob Charley when first up, attempting to lead throughout and he gave a strong kick from the front but just felt the pinch late. Front end racing style, he’ll take running down.

8 Phearson (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is sneaky flying I think and with a positive ride, he’s very dangerous. For some reason, they are riding him with a sit and while he is racing well, he just hasn’t been threatening. I am hoping they ride with intent, land on speed and take running down.

1 Robusto (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks hard to beat for Bjorn Baker. He was outclassed when resuming in the Stradbroke before going to the Winter Stakes two weeks ago and chased with purpose in the straight but Estadio Mestalla pinched it on speed and was too good. Hard fit now, he appeals.

2 Estadio Mestalla (Bet Now:  $SP.00) got things to suit in the Winter Stakes two weeks back but even allowing for that, he was impressive from on speed and held a safe margin in the run to the line. Tricky draw, but will press forward and be around the mark.

3 Cloudland (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has come back in beast mode it appears and fitter, up to 1300m, he takes beating. He resumed with a bang over 1200m here two weeks ago, knuckling down with purpose late to wear them down and win in impressive fashion. Good upside/improvement, he will be hard to hold out.

6 King Of Roseau (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. He has been freshened up since a track/distance win on June 14 when giving them a start and a beating in an impressive performance to score. Tick over trial was strong, watch betting.

10 Elson Boy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improver at a likely decent price. He hasn’t fired a shot in two runs back, but has had to lump decent weight and has struggled, perhaps needing racing. He gets relative weight relief this time around and with his best, he’s dangerous.
