Race 1. (12:05) Ata Trust/Tab We're On Hcp 1400m
3 Duchess Zou (Bet Now: $SP.00) should take beating here for Ciaron Maher after racing in the Creswick two weeks ago. She got off speed and was outpaced when the sprint went on but she picked up and was very good late behind Bridal Waltz. Like her up to 1400m and she strikes a winnable race.
2 Just For Show (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 1400m at Caulfield. He got too far out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, he kept chasing and was pretty good late in the piece behind Harry’s Yacht. If within range, he has the finale to win.
5 Lario (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes through the Legacy Bay race from last Wednesday at Sandown. He lobbed into a good spot near the speed and he tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through, finishing second. Not sure he wins, but can run top four.
Race 2. (12:40) Byerley Hcp 1800m
1 Bayou Music (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a horse with talent. He ran fourth to Buccleuch in the Taj Rossi Final a fortnight back. He was back near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line in defeat. Like him up in trip and has good upside to come.
4 Bermondsey (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate 1800m after his second to Buccleuch in the Taj Rossi Final. He got off speed and kept chasing, finding the line in a good effort in defeat. He was several weeks between runs there so with upside, he is in the mix.
8 Yalda Warrior (Bet Now: $SP.00) was down the track in teh Taj Rossi Final. She was fractious in the gates and I reckon ran her race before the gates opened. The debut was very good and off that, she can certainly threaten.
Race 3. (13:15) Vrc Member Gerald Jongebloed Trophy 1700m
8 Aloysius (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the one I think. GaiBott trained three year old that comes here off the back of a maiden win at Hawkesbury. He led throughout and gave nothing else a look in to win and win well, albeit the time was nothing flash, but I think he’ll lead and make this a proper 1700m contest.
4 Em Sixty (Bet Now: $SP.00) has won his past two and is one of the leading contenders. Narrow winner two back during the Swan Hill Carnival before going to Ballarat where he got better as the race went on to win impressively. Good test here but think he can measure up.
3 Zorro’s Flight (Bet Now: $SP.00) is hard to beat for Team Payne after racing in the Silver Bowl Final two weeks ago over the mile here. He got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there when third to From A Distance. Racing well and strikes a winnable race.
Race 4. (13:50) Vrc Member Sarah Hart Trophy 1000m
3 Oyster Lane (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the debut run, which came at Caulfield three weeks ago. He got the suck run on the fence and when asked, he looked home, but was nabbed on the peg by a nice horse I think, Sonofkirk. Fitter, strong late, he appeals.
7 Sideline (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 1000m for Beggy after a debut win over 1100m at Ballarat Synthetic. She landed on speed and credit to her, she had to knuckle down with purpose late to get the win, and she did, winning well. Like her back to 1000m and she has a good racing style.
2 Petit Artiste (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Team Yargi trained filly that resumes. She did nice things last prep, mainly in Adelaide, winning at Stakes level before producing an end of prep run behind Legacy Bound. Recent jumpout was strong, watch the market.
Race 5. (14:25) Rmbl Investments Rising Stars Final (Bm78) 1600m
1 Miss Tarzy (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be rated as the one to beat after her win first up in the Leilani Final. The market said she’d need the run but she produced a very strong finale from off speed to win and win well. Natural upside and improvement, up to 1600m, she’ll take beating.
2 Pariah Pearl (Bet Now: $SP.00) has run well at Flemington previously and is one of the key threats after racing over the mile at Sandown last start when on speed and she tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there when second to Sound It Out. Commands respect.
10 Jazz Affair (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a threat after her effort two weeks back in the Leilani Final. She was back, wide with cover, and spotted those in front too much head start, but wasn’t too bad late in the piece. If she can settle closer, be within range, she can take this out.
Race 6. (15:05) Vrc Member Colin Gilson Sprint (Bm84) 1200m
6 Moby Dick (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a proven straight track performer and is a key threat. He ran over 1200m three weeks ago at Caulfield. He was wide throughout, with cover, and kept finding the line when a close up third to Zou Sensation. Like him back to the straight course, he appeals.
8 La Fracas (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the stablemate and a key threat. 2/2 this time in, the latest coming at Sandown where he got better as the race went on and was dominant late in the piece. Hard fit, in ripping form, he’s one of the leadign contenders.
7 Talbragar (Bet Now: $SP.00) has run well down the straight previously and is a chance for sure after racing behind Zou Sensation three weeks ago. He had a decent run in transit near the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there and tired late. One for exotics.
Race 7. (15:45) Deane Lester Flemington Cup 1849 2800m
4 Bold Soul (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying for Team Payne and is one of the hardest to beat after his effort two weeks ago in the Banjo Patterson Final. He presented after getting a beaut run and tried his guts out to peg back Goldenstatewarrior but had to settle for a second. Hard to beat against these.
3 Virtuous Circle (Bet Now: $SP.00) ran fourth in the Banjo Patterson Final a fortnight back. He was back near last but tracked up really nicely and I thought was there to threaten but just whacked late. I think 2800m is okay for him and he does have class on his side.
1 Ardakan (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a definite improver for Ciaron Maher after racing in the Banjo Patterson Final two weeks back. He got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept fidning the line and was pretty good late. Hard fit, up in trip, he appeals.
Race 8. (16:20) Vrc Member Gabriella Delutiis Trophy 2000m
9 Milford (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on track I feel and getting to 2000m is a big tick. He ran behind Saban a few weeks back at Sandown where he got a fair way back and while he was never a winning threat, I didn’t mind the way he finished his race off in defeat. Hard fit, 2000m, can settle closer, leading contender.
2 Relentless Voyager (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to be ticking along nicely towards the Spring. He resumed over the mile here several weeks ago where he got back, was run off his legs, but really liked the way he closed off in defeat. Might need another and more ground, but he has class/quality.
3 Wyclif (Bet Now: $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since resuming over 1800m at Sandown. He just looked in need of the run on paper and that is how it panned out behind Saban. Better for the run, his best is good enough to be a threat.
Race 9. (16:52) Vrc Member Daniel Reynolds Sprint (Bm78) 1000m
2 Losesomewinmore (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a good straight track horse and has to be respected. He has been freshened up since June 21 when a solid fourth here behind the very much in form Marble Nine. Like him back to 1000m and 78 grade. Hard to beat.
1 Beast Mode (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a short course specialist and appeals here. He resumed at Morphettville Parks when on speed and looked the winner when asked but just couldn’t quite fend off Sir Now. Good racing style for the short course and will look the winner for a long way.
5 Big Me (Bet Now: $SP.00) is dangerous back to 1000m after racing over 1200m three weeks ago at Caulfield. He tried hard but I think 1200m at this level sees him out when down the track behind Zou Sensation. Like him back to the short course and his best is good enough to win.
