Race 1. (11:50) Mornington Sires 1200m
8 Prestige Snitzel (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 1200m in the Breeders at Flemington where she was off speed and kept finding the line in defeat when third to Recuperato. Home track advantage and with the solid form lines around her, she’s one of the hardest to beat.
9 Toronado Queen (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here for Greg Eurell off the back of a debut win at Geelong. She took on a field of six but she was quite impressive the way she put them away late in the piece. 1200m is no issue and is one of the key chances.
7 Sincere Smile (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a first four threat after a down the track effort at Cranbourne last time behind Stay Cosmic, but he had excuses given he was wide no cover for the trip and that hard run just told on him late in the piece. Maps much better, not penning him.
Race 2. (12:20) Denistoun Park (Bm70) 1600m
6 Divine Thoughts (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and run an honest race, as seen at the midweeks at Sandown, attempting to lead throughout and she tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through, run down late when third to No Fuss. She went very hard in front there, so the fact she backs up tells me she must have come through the run well, and can take this out.
2 Matawai (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) brings the Proved form, which does read quite well. She ran second to that mare at Sandown last time, chasing with purpose and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there. Good racing style, kind map, she appeals.
3 Fearless Writer (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one for exotics. She ran over this trip two weeks back at Caulfield when just off the speed and seemingly had her chance but just couldn’t quite finish the job behind Grey Ice. She was several weeks between runs and back in trip, so with that in mind, she’s a threat for sure.
Race 3. (12:55) Catanach's Jewellers (Bm84) 1600m
2 Verdad (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) can bounce back. He was victim of the tip that was The Valley a few weeks back. He was off speed, forced wide to make his run, and was just never really a factor behind behind Stay Focused. The win prior at Flemington was dominant and off that effort, he can bounce back.
3 Zweig (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Former Irish galloper that makes his Aussie debut for the Neasham/Archibald camp. He has had a couple of preps down under to prepare and get ready for start one here. He had a prep in Sydney before going to Victoria and his jumpout work has been pretty good, so watch betting and see what it does, because he does look to have talent.
1 Carini (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one to watch. Formerly with Danny O’Brien, he now finds himself with Gavin Bedggood. He has been a quirky horse since arriving from overseas but there is no denying the engine under the hood he has and his jumpout work to get ready for the return has been pretty good so he is a yard/market watch.
Race 4. (13:30) Enchanted Adventure Hcp 2000m
4 Immediacy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate getting to 2000m after resuming over the mile at Flemington where he got a mile back in the run but worked home with real purpose late in the piece behidn Enxuto. Fitter, up in trip, not a deep race…keen.
3 Foujita San (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for Team Hawkes. He ran in the Easter Cup two weeks ago at Caulfield, getting back off the speed but was angled wider and let down with purpose late, just missing out on the win when second to Torranzino. Hard horse to catch but off last run, he can win.
5 Mission Of Love (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Symons/Laxon after racing last Saturday in the Golden Mile. She got back to near last in the run and while she was never a winning threat, she did make up ground and was pretty good in defeat. Hard fit now and up to a more preferred trip, she’ll run a beauty at odds.
Race 5. (14:05) Louvretec (Bm70) 1000m
4 Chinqui (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Team Freedman, having not raced since Feb 22 at Caulfield when leading and tiring late to finish four lengths off Winnasedge. Tick over jumpout win was sharp, good racing style and is suited at the short course. Hard to beat.
1 Gracie’s Rain (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is flying for Michael Huglin. She comes here off the back of a freshen up where she won two on the bounce at Kilmore and Stony Creek respectively, producing sustained speed from the front and gave nothing else a look in. Tick oer trial last week was strong, she lands on speed and is hard to beat.
11 Mr Tickles (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is dangerous if they overdo it in front. He got a fair way out of his ground when resuming at Cranbourne but was very good late in the piece. Maps to settle much closer and be effective late.
Race 6. (14:40) No Fuss Event Hire Hcp 1200m
1 Vestas (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a good filly with an engine under the hood. This girl resumed in the Sprint Classic at Flemington where she was out wide on a day where up/in was dynamite so forgive and forget the run. She had jumped out like a rocket leading in so I think she deserves another look.
5 Thames (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one of the key threats. She ran second to Soft Love a fortnight back at Caulfield. She got a fair way off speed and while she was never a winning threat, she kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat when second. If she can be within range, she has the finale to be dangerous.
3 Bridal Waltz (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since resuming in the Sprint Classic where she was outclassed on paper and ran accordingly after seemingly having every chance behind Kiwi star Alabama Lass. Better for the run under the belt, she can be a big improver at odds.
Race 7. (15:20) Mornington Guineas 1600m
I have to tip 11 Movin Out (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) even though I am of the belief she heads to Morphettville for the Oaks next weekend. She brings the elite form of Treasurethe Moment. On paper, plain in the Vinery Stud, but the race shape and track was clearly not to her liking. She has lengths on these if she brings her best.
7 Fear No Evil (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was the subject of a significant betting drift at Pakenham last start, opening odds on and getting to $6.50+, but nobody told the horse that as he sat on speed and he gave nothing else a look in to win and make it 2/2 to start his career. Beware the unbeaten horse and with a good racing style.
4 Peru (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a knockout hope. He resumed over 1400m at Cranbourne where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up headway and wasn’t too bad in defeat. Might want one more and a further rise in trip, but his best is good enough to threaten.
Race 8. (16:00) Mornington Cup 2400m
6 Berkshire Breeze (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the one to beat. He ran three weeks ago in the Roy Higgins when off speed and was given a 12/10 steer by Zahra, looming to beat Deakin but that horse kicked on strongly and was too good. That form surely reads very well for this.
2 Que Tempesta (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key chance. I think he wins the Easter Cup at Caulfield if he runs straight, but wanted to duck in under pressure and I reckon threw the race away when a close up fourth to Torranzino. Like him up to 2400m and if he runs straight, he can win.
9 Night Endeavour (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be suited back up to 2400m after racing in the Easter Cup. He was given a freshen up and he reacted, working home strongly from off the speed when third. He has always shown talent so up to 2400m, he’s one of the hardest to beat.
Race 9. (16:35) Hareeba Stakes 1200m
2 Hedged (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a big improver here for Price/Kent. He ran over this trip at The Valley three weeks ago where the track was quite shifty and he just couldn’t pick his feet up in the conditions behind The Instructor. Firmer/fairer deck here (hopefully), his best is good enough.
4 War Machine (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a fascinating runner. He resumes for Glen Thompson, having not raced since the Rupert Clarke when producing an end of prep run when down the track behind Kimochi. Given a good break and his jumpout work has been strong. Watch betting.
8 Crosshaven (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is worth a throw at the stumps here for mine. He resumed over 1200m at The Valley where he got back and on a day where the track was a mess, he was never a factor when down the track behind The Instructor. Back on a fairer deck (hopefully, he can run an improved race because he had jumped out like a rocket prior.
Race 10. (17:10) Cleanaway (Bm78) 1200m
3 Wallenda (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is back to a bending track and should take beating against these. He is three weeks between runs since racing down the straight at Flemington when off speed and kept finding the line in defeat behind Codigo. Up to 1200m, bending track, prior form was strong…he’s the one to beat.
2 Prancing Spirit… (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) less said the better from two weeks ago at Caulfield. He got a sore back from Stackhouse I thought. He should have won, but got badly held up in behind them. Convinced he is flying and with a half positive steer, he’ll take beating.
8 Namesake (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door. He ran behind Heart Of Glass two weeks back at Caulfield when wide no cover throughout but he stayed on and was game in defeat when a close up third. Better run in transit, he’s one of the leading contenders.
