Eight races will be run and won at Belmont this Saturday, and while there are no feature races, the depth does look pretty good. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out nine metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (13:53) : Tabtouch Plate 1000m:
Back Me: 2 Dainty Tess (Bet Now: $2.50) is one of the better youngsters Perth has to offer. She hasn’t raced for five weeks since running a game second to Stored Energy over 1300m. Back in trip is no issue and Pike sticks.
Big Danger: 1 Next Generation (Bet Now: $8.50) drops back to 1000m after running over 1200m here last time out where he looked the winner but just couldn’t quite run the trip out. Better suited here and should take some beating.
Roughie: 7 Carnelian (Bet Now: $16.00) is a first starter for Paul Jordan that has trialled on several occasions leading up to the debut and has looked the part. Takes on a couple of handy types here, but should measure up.

Race Two (14:33) : Pink Ladies Day July 9 Handicap (1MW) 1000m:
Back Me: 6 Stravigo (Bet Now: $1.55) well, apparently is still trained by Team Snowden, but I am sure he’d be now under the care of Grant Williams. Recent Lark Hill trial win was outstanding…and gee, on his form in Sydney, he’ll spank these.
Big Danger: 1 Marchand (Bet Now: $12.00) is an in form sprinter at the moment. Problem is he hasn’t won for a while, but there was real merit in his last start third to form sprinter Cool Passion, who is one of the firm gallopers in Perth at the moment. Just needs luck from the tricky gate to be a contender.
Roughie: 8 Total Eclipse (Bet Now: $15.00) resumed over 1000m at Northam last Monday where he charged home from near last to run a close up second. Would need to improve a bit to beat these, but he has good upside and will be strong late.

Race Three (15:13) : Raceday Sponsorship Handicap (72+) 2200m:
Back Me: 3 Dark Musket (Bet Now: $5.50) comes through the Tradesman race above where he was a little bit unlucky given he got held up a touch in the straight before getting clear and finding the line nicely. Big tick is Pike on and though rises big time in weight, he should take some beating.
Big Danger: 1 Tradesman (Bet Now: $2.60) comes through a 2000m race here three weeks back where he had a charmed run behind the tempo and cruised clear before going on to win comfortably. Little bit more depth here, and the weight rise, but is a definite leading contender.
Roughie: 5 Uncle George (Bet Now: $31.00) ran at this track/distance a fortnight back where he made up ground late when running fifth to Shinta Mani, beaten three lengths. He remains down in the weights and this isn’t an overly strong race.

Race Four (15:53) : Vale Hana Dickson Handicap (72+) 1200m:
Back Me: 6 Conjob (Bet Now: $21.00) is on the back up after racing a fortnight back here where he made up ground late behind impressive winner Vega Magic. Remains at the track/distance here and should take some beating.
Big Danger: 1 Vega Magic (Bet Now: $1.45) is a rising star in the WA ranks who absolutely bolted up over this track/distance two weeks ago. Takes on the older horses here again, but as we saw last start, that won’t be an issue.
Roughie: 9 Grey Enigma (Bet Now: $31.00) ran third to Vega Magic in that race mentioned above, and his effort was pretty good in defeat. He does get a significant weight pull in his favour here, draws well and is hard fit.

Race Five (16:30) : Fast Track To Membership Handicap 1200m:
Back Me: 5 Beaucount (Bet Now: $3.00) debuted at the midweeks a couple of Wednesdays back over the mile and was very impressive in getting the job done by a margin. Back to 1200m is a little query, but it’s difficult to doubt Fred Kersley.
Big Danger: 1 Brisanto (Bet Now: $4.80) ran over this track/distance two weeks back and chased hard from last when running third to Pretentious Chant in what was a tidy effort. She drops a bit in depth I think, and though drawn awkwardly, she is a major player.
Roughie: 2 Fremond (Bet Now: $13.00) ran fifth in that race won by Pretentious Chant, and his effort was alright considering he was first up and got held up a touch early in the straight when having something to offer. Better off here, gate one and has class, so he is a knockout hope.

Race Six (17:05) : Amelia Park Beef Handicap (78+) 1200m:
Back Me: 12 Stocks (Bet Now: $18.00) resumed a month ago over 1200m here and made up nice ground late behind in form galloper Gigante. 1200m second up looks an ideal recipe, and he does have good upside.
Big Danger: 3 Military Reign (Bet Now: $3.40) is a talented filly who steps up to 1200m after several outings over 1000m. The weight relief after the claim for Randy Tan is noteworthy, she’ll be on speed and she loves a fight.
Roughie: 11 Mad Brad (Bet Now: $10.00) resumed over 1000m here three weeks ago and stuck to the task pretty well when fourth to Showy Chloe, she herself a talented three year old filly. Placed two of four second up and Warwick remains on.

Race Seven (17:45) : Kirin Megumi Handicap (72+) 1650m:
Back Me: Most of these come through the mile race here a fortnight back. 3 Universal Law (Bet Now: $2.70) looks the way to go. He won that race two weeks back and was given a great steer to get the job done. Now that he has bounced back to winning form, he can go right on with it.
Big Danger: 13 The Cobbla (Bet Now: $3.50) ran second in the same race where he charged home from the back to run second and really should have won had he been closer in the run. If that eventuated here, he can certainly turn the tables.
Roughie: 2 Muskets At Dawn (Bet Now: $6.50) was only second up in that arcs mentioned above. He copped pressure on speed and had every right to drop out, but he kept finding to cling on for third. Should be close to peak fitness now and looms as a threat.

Race Eight (18:25) : Vale Ralph Swan Handicap (1MW 1650m:
Back Me: 10 In This Life (Bet Now: $5.00) is in ripping form this time in for Lindsey Smith, winning two from two, the latest coming five weeks back here over the mile when holding out Romelo. No trials since, so fitness levels are the worry, but it’s hard to knock her.
Big Danger: 16 Hello Paris (Bet Now: $17.00) ran over 1400m here last Wednesday and was just fair I thought when running fifth. She is hard to trust, but Pike sticks, which is a good lead and the step up in trip could suit this filly.
Roughie: 2 Present Arms (Bet Now: $26.00) resumed over 1400m here three weeks back and just found it a bit short when down the track behind Proceedwithcaution, who ran alright at Stakes level last weekend. 1650m is still short of his best, but if they go hard in front, he’ll finish stronger than most.
