Race One (12:18pm) : Nicolle Harvey Handicap (70) 1950m: Form Guide
Back Me: Keen here on Tidy Prophet (Best Odds: $4.20). He scored a dominant win over the mile two back before stepping up to 1800m at Mildura last time, and aided by a lovely ride from Shayne Cahill, he proved much too good for his rivals. Matty Neilson takes over again and he rode the horse to success two back. Looks the way to go.
Big Danger: Tip Rat (Best Odds: $4.40) scored a strong win first up before coming to this track/distance and failing to get into the race from the back when last to Zahspeed. He is much better than that and I am expecting him to atone, or at least improve sharply.
Roughie: Kiora (Best Odds: $5.00) ran last time out over 1700m at the Bool (Metro) and he just couldn’t get into the race when seventh to Try Four, beaten seven lengths. We saw what that horse did to a stronger field last Saturday. He can improve on a firmer surface.

Race Two (12:53pm) : David Nash Handicap (64) 1300m: Form Guide
Back Me: Alaskan Jade (Best Odds: $2,40) ran fifth in that Jacksay race at Gawler and was alright there, then ran at that track again last Sunday and just failed in picking up Colonel Custer, who is a stablemate of the top tip and is probably a couple of lengths off One For One, so having that as a guide, I don’t think Alaskan Jade can win, but she is a must for exotics.
Big Danger: Karlovasi (Best Odds: $3.50) is on the quick back up after racing last Saturday at Morphettville when working home okay to run fourth to potential Stakes winner Miss Gunpowder, beaten three lengths. Returning to the Parks track should suit given his two efforts here have been strong, and taking out One For One, this is a very thin race.
Roughie: Global Squire (Best Odds: $31.00) looks one of the better value runners of the day in my opinion. Shayne Cahill has been on fire of late and he could ride a broomstick to victory at the moment. Don’t take anything from the trial and be sure to add him into your multiples at the big price.

Race Three (1:28pm) : Jockey Celebration Day Handicap 2400m: Form Guide
Back Me: Going with Flying Casino. (Best Odds: $2.50) He was desperately unlucky over 2500m at Morphettville when second to Red Fella after getting badly held up and too far back on the turn. He then ran over this track/distance a couple of weeks back and seemingly had his chance I thought when third to Doctor Care, but I did think he was ridden a touch too close to the tempo. Ridden more cold, like normal, he should take a power of beating.
Big Danger: Sir Laszlo (Best Odds: $2.80) took an absolute eternity to wind up two back at Gawler (Metro) but he did and grabbed King Cadel close to home. He then ran at Bendigo last time out and worked home strongly from the back to finish fourth to You Think So. This is a significant drop in class and he should prove hard to beat.
Roughie: King Cadel (Best Odds: $21.00) just ambled up to get the job done two back at Gawler (Metro), but couldn’t finish it off and was grabbed late by Sir Laszlo. He then backed up a week later over this track/distance and stuck on well when fourth to Doctor Care. He is a bit of a non winner, but he always whacks away and is a must for exotics.

Race Four (2:03pm) : Lynette Day Handicap (82) 1400m: Form Guide
Back Me: Tankster (Best Odds: $1.50) looks the horse to beat here. He was well backed to win last time out here, and aided by a lovely on speed ride from gun apprentice Caitlin Jones, the Victorian galloper proved far too good for his rivals. Should be up on speed again, handles the track, fit…ticks all the boxes.
Big Danger: Saturday Affair (Best Odds: $6.50) ran seventh in the race Tankster saluted in, and I think just forgive and forget she went around there. She just got too far back and never really got into the race. She is better than that, and she now gets down to the minimum plus I think she will be suited by the step up to 1400m.
Roughie: Pronto Pronto (Best Odds: $26.00) can be a talented galloper on his day but of late he hasn’t been able to put it together. Giving him one more chance at the big odds today although the short priced favourite looks to have the class here.

Race Five (2:43pm) : Craig Clogg Handicap (68) 1250m: Form Guide
Back Me: Super Sun (Best Odds: $6.50) for me here. The Hayes/Dabernig runner resumed on the Geelong Synthetic a couple of weeks back and worked joke okay late when running third to Ovahead. He should take good improvement from that outing, Holder rides, fitter, drawn well…hard to hold out.
Big Danger: Manhattan Prince (Best Odds: $4.80) resumed over this track/distance a couple of weeks back and worked home strongly out wide late when fourth to Matagami. He will be better over further, but he strikes a very winnable race here, fitter, draws a good gate and the stable is having a really good run at the moment.
Roughie: Barigan Boy (Best Odds: $51.00) is a hit or miss type of horse and we will be hoping it’s a hit today at the big price. Again Shayne Cahill who has been flying of late is on board and we expect him to give him every chance at the massive price.

Race Six (3:23pm) : Allie Umoff Handicap (82) 1250m: Form Guide
Back Me: Kings Pardon (Best Odds: $8.50) resumed at Gawler (Metro) in a much stronger race than this and I thought he was excellent when running third to classy galloper Daytona Grey. Big drop down in depth and class here, and his record at the track is tidy.
Big Danger: Classy Jack (Best Odds: $5.50) has been an absolute tease this time, but there was good merit in his effort last Saturday when running third to stakes performer Whitlam, beaten just over a length. Drops a bit in depth and class here, should roll forward again and prove tough to run down. Problem is he hasn’t won for a long time.
Roughie: Goodfun Girl (Best Odds: $10.00) is a talented mare that resumes here. Her last effort came at Stakes level during the Tassie Carnival and wasn’t that far off a handy type in Vibrant Rouge. Resumes here without a trial, and her best form is over further, but she has class and will be strong late.

Race Seven (4:03pm) : Michael Hanlon Handicap (75) 1250m: Form Guide
Back Me: Azzcool (Best Odds: $10.00) on top. He didn’t look 100% happy in the mud at Gawler (Metro) when sixth to Get Pronto. He then went to Balaklava a couple of weeks back and he appreciated the drop in class, finishing off strongly from off the pace to win and win impressively. He is a city class horse for sure, but he looked a bit down in confidence, and that win could well see him go right on with it.
Big Danger: Alabama Missile (Best Odds: $4.20) is bursting to win a race, but just can’t quite put it all together. He seemingly had his chance last time out over 1000m here when second to Pistolier, beaten 1.6L. His last three runs have been at 1000m, but now I think he looks ready to tackle 1250m, and despite carrying topweight, he should be right in the finish.
Roughie: Molly The Snip (Best Odds: $6.00) is similar to Alabama Missile-tries hard every start but can’t quite win. She was ridden upside down last start, sitting back near last, but it almost paid dividends when the mare burst to the front early on in the straight, but she couldn’t hold out the finishing burst of Back On Target. A win is just around the corner, and this looks a suitable target.

Race Eight (4:39pm) : Neil Dohnt Handicap (70) 1400m: Form Guide
Back Me: Turf Crusher (Best Odds: $4.20) was ordinary first up up at Flemington but then was sent here by trainer Mick Hibbs and gee he was terribly unlucky when second to Matagami. He got shuffled back near the inside and really had no chance to build up momentum, which is vital on this track. Up to 1400m is perfect and he should be at peak fitness.
Big Danger: Alysiana (Best Odds: $7.00) ran over this track/distance a couple of weeks back, and aided by a gun steer from Matty Neilson, the mare proved much too good for her rivals. She’s finally putting it all together now under the care of newly crowned champion trainer Phillip Stokes, and she looks one of the hardest to beat here.
Roughie: Unspun (Best Odds: $9.00) ran seventh in that race mentioned above, and he was quite good I thought considering he got a long way back in the run and scouted very wide on the turn, so his effort under the circumstances was tidy. He draws much better here and Paul Gatt is back on, and he has ridden the horse to success this time in.
