Race 1. (11:35) Sir Eugene Gorman Hcp 1400m

Back Me

3 Narbold (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is staying at 1400m, which is a knock, but he looks a nice horse for Ciaron Maher. He ran in the Anzac Day Stakes here on Anzac Day and was good, closing off with purpose when second to impressive winner Epimeles. If he can settle closer, or get a drag into the race, he’ll be dangerous.

Danger

1 Snack Bar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks hard to beat here for James Cummings. He is two weeks between runs after winning over 1400m at Caulfield where he led throughout and was quite strong to the line in winning. He was challenged midway in the run but he found, was strong and impressive. This isn’t a deep race IMO, so happy to give him serious respect.

Long Shot

10 Sneaky Sunrise (Bet Now:  $SP.00) would be $1.10 if they found a maiden for her so running here I find interesting and it tells me the camp rate her. She ran behind Epimeles on Anzac Day where she was held up at times but when clear, she found the line with real purpose. Think she has the talent to measure up.

Race 2. (12:00) Murray Cox (Bm84) 1800m

Back Me

6 Euphoric (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for me. I liked him when he raced at Caulfield two weeks ago over 2000m but he got back in what was basically a barrier trial and although he made up solid headway, he was never really threatening behind all the way winner Midnight Blue. He has that 2000m run under the belt, which holds him in good stead for this 1800m assignment.

Danger

5 Cadmus (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to have come back in beast mode for Team Freedman and appeals. This guy ran a fortnight back at Caulfield where he gave them a start and a beating, and the beating was quite dominant, rounding them up with a fair amount of ease. Harder here, but confident he measures up.

Long Shot

9 Sir Kingsford (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hard to beat. Searle/Callinan trained gelding that won the Provincial Final two weeks ago on the course proper here, leading throughout and he just ran them into submission, going hard from the front and just kept running to fight them off and win. Good test here, but hard to knock him and how he’s racing.

Race 3. (12:30) Inside Headquarters (Bm78) 1200m

Back Me

7 Niance (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be given another look. Like most, I thought she was a good thing when racing here on Anzac Day but she did everything wrong. Bombed the start, keen in the run and had nothing left for the straight. The wins prior were that of a Stakes class animal, so with that in mind, she’ll take beating if you can forgive last run.

Danger

8 Wakanjeja (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a talented mare for Phillip Stokes who looks to have returned in good order. She resumed at Caulfield two weeks ago where she got back off the speed and was good late, closing off to finish a close up third to Mrs Chrissie. Fitter and up in trip, stable is humming, she can sit back and launch at them late.

Long Shot

6 Electric Belle (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1200m. She resumed behind Mrs Chrissie in the race mentioned above where she was keen in the run and that took away something from her finale. Might need another run, potentially a bog, but her best is good enough to be dangerous.

Race 4. (13:05) K.A Morrison Hcp 1400m

Back Me

2 Modown (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the straight bat play. Charlotte Littlefield trained three year old that comes through the Guineas from three weeks ago at Caulfield. I thought he was given a 12/10 by Jack Hill and was there to win 300m out but he couldn’t quite finish it off and had to settle for a second to Elphinstone. Hard to beat with that 1600m run under the belt.

Danger

7 Riproar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key chance for Andrew Forsman. He comes through the 1400m race from two weeks back at Caulfield. He got back and held up at times but when clear, he found the line and was good in defeat when third to The Shaper. Like him at Flemington and with clear air, he’s dangerous for sure.

Long Shot

5 Dolphin Skin (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1400m, which I find interesting. Team Corstens trained filly that comes through the Mornington Guineas where she got back in the run and failed to make up any real headway. But that said, she was far from disgraced. Back to 1400m, she will be strong late and her best is good enough.

Race 5. (13:40) Stud And Stable Staff Awards (70) 1100m

Back Me

10 Losesomewinmore (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in a four start career and has to be respected as one of the key chances. He ran at Morphettville two weeks ago where he got into a dream spot behind the speed before angling wider and loomed to win but had no answers and had to settle for second to the very much in form Delightful Shecky. Hard fit, has change up and talent.

Danger

13 White Bear (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Michael Moroney since racing at Caulfield over 1200m when attempting to lead throughout and he gave a very strong kick but couldn’t quite see it through, nabbed late by Awapuni Princess. Back to 1100m, home track, good racing style, he appeals.

Long Shot

16 Gundaroo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Peter Smith trained gelding that resumes. He is a straight track winner previously, so he gets a tick in that regard, and his overall form from last prep does read well enough for a race like this. Jumpout work has been encouraging, can sprint well fresh and this isn’t a deep race.

Race 6. (14:15) Sir Henry Bolte Hcp 2000m

Back Me

5 Navy King (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to be ticking along nicely towards the Final in a few weeks. He ran in the Aztec State race from two weeks back at Caulfield. He got back to near last in the run and while he was never really a winning threat, I thought he closed off with purpose and was good in defeat. He’ll love Flemington and is a key chance if within range 400m out.

Danger

1 Aztec State (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for Team Hayes. He got a lovely ride from Currie at Caulfield a fortnight back, getting back with cover, tracking up with purpose before angling wider into clear air and he knuckled down strongly late to win. Good test here but he has that 2000m run under the belt now, which holds him in good stead.

Long Shot

6 Cotton Tree (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key threat. He did more than enough when debuting at Geelong before going to Warrnambool where he found the best ground but even allowing for that, he was impressive and dominant in the run to the line. Runner up was impressive at Pakenham on Thursday night and this guy is racing like 2000m suits.

Race 7. (14:50) Straight Six 1200m

Back Me

1200m is on the short side for 19 Poison Chalice (Bet Now:  $SP.00) but I am very keen to see him resume. He is a really nice horse for Paul Preusker that resumes, having not raced since Nov 18 at Morphettville where he looked a good thing on paper and duly saluted. Jumpout work has been impressive and he’ll be stronger than most at the end.

Danger

The best version of 6 Steparty (Bet Now:  $SP.00) sees him spank these. Just a matter of where he is at. He hasn’t quite gone on with it since his 2YO/early 3YO career, but he has been given a good break, potentially with eyes towards Brisbane, and his trial/jumpout work has been more than encouraging.

Long Shot

16 Who Dares (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a beauty for Carey/Walker and has a good record down the straight. Three weeks between runs since winning the VOBIS Sprint at Caulfield, knuckling down with purpose late to wear down Semillion, who won the Takeover Target last weekend impressively, so the form reads very well and he remains down in the weights.

Race 8. (15:30) Andrew Ramsden 2800m

Back Me

12 The Map (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a ripping mare and I am confident she wins. She is a track/distance winner from Melbourne Cup Day and has gone on with it since, her last start seeing her romp up in the Queens Cup at Morphettville two weeks ago where she was given a 12/10 by J Kah and was much too good. She stays, she has change up speed, she has versatility re racing pattern…hard to beat.

Danger

3 Excelleration (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is prepped right up for this. He hasn’t raced since an Adelaide Cup triumph where he was given a 12/10 steer and proved too good, just, for The Map, who spanked her rivals at Morphettville a fortnight back, so that reads very well, and this guy has looked to trial up really well in readiness for this.

Long Shot

11 Samuel Langhorne (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has become a winning machine for Mick Kent and rates highly. He has won three on the bounce, the latest being a strong win over 2500m at Flemington on Anzac Day, where he gave them a start and a beating, launching late to finish best. Not sure what upside he has got but he only has to hold his form to be around the mark.

Race 9. (16:10) L.V Lachal (Bm100) 1600m

Back Me

1 Munhamek (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can run an improved race if there is a more genuine tempo. He ran behind Dashing two weeks back at Caulfield when back in a slowly run race and did make up headway but was never really a factor behind Dashing. He loves Flemington, tempo should be more to his liking and he has class.

Danger

11 Dashing (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and take running down. He was a strong all the way winner at Caulfield two weeks ago, leading throughout and I just loved the way he dug in to win. He was there to be beaten but he found under pressure, fended them off and was too good. The end of 1600m at this level is a query, but with a good racing style, he commands respect.

Long Shot

14 Wineglass Bay (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improver at odds for Chris Waller. This gelding resumed three weeks back behind Edison over 1400m at Caulfield. He got back in the run and was never a winning threat, but did make up some level of headway and wasn’t too bad in defeat. He does have a touch of quality so I am not penning him just yet.

Race 10. (16:43) Trevor Clarke Hcp 1100m

Back Me

1 Shesallshenanigans (Bet Now:  $SP.00) brings class with her into this and she is a straight track performer. She ran over 1100m two weeks ago at Caulfield when wide no cover on speed but she kept on and tried her guts out. Just couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Title Fighter. Back to the straight course, good racing style, she’ll take beating.

Danger

11 Unconquerable (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Price/Kent trained filly that resumes. Her only run came on Dec 14 when an impressive maiden winner at Caulfield, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive effort. Given a good break, jumpout work has been strong and this isn’t a deep contest.

Long Shot

3 Diamond Decorator (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks suited back to 1100m and back to teh Flemington straight. She hasn’t raced since the March 23 when down the track over 1200m at The Valley behind Gumdrops. This looks a better set up for her and a recent trial win at Moe was sharp.
