A strong ten race program has been set down for Randwick on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:20) Tab Supports Nat. Jockeys Hcp 1200m
2 Himalaism (Bet Now: $3.70 TOP ODDS) looks a good mover for Chris Waller. Bred to be a good one being by I Am Invincible out of former star mare Snitzerland. Loved the way he moved in a recent Rosehill trial, importantly on firmer footing, looking much better than what he looked on wet ground in a Canterbury trial. He’ll do me.
7 Uncorked (Bet Now: $1.85 TOP ODDS) is a WaterBott trained filly that comes through a suspect form race at Newcastle, the Max Lees. She was on speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish it off when nabbed late. Tick over trial was a good piece of work and in front, she’ll look the winner at some stage.
9 Fly Nice (Bet Now: $7.50 TOP ODDS) is an interesting runner. Maher/Eustace filly that was hard in the market on debut in the Ballarat 2YO Magic Millions race. She was behind the speed and seemingly had a good run in transit and couldn’t fire a shot. Had jumped out super prior, so watch the market with her.
Race 2. (13:00) Atc Thanks John Williams-bm72 1400m
8 Sacrimony (Bet Now: $3.70 TOP ODDS) should be suited up to 1400m for Chris Waller. He was a few weeks between runs and remained at 1200m when racing at Rosehill two weeks ago. Loomed to win but couldn’t quite get there when beaten a lip by stablemate Starman. I think now up to 1400m, hard fit, he’ll take beating.
5 Starman (Bet Now: $3.10 TOP ODDS) is a Chris Waller trained gelding that looks to have returned in good order. Given a peach by J Mac to win at Rosehill a fortnight back. Parked just behind the speed, he came with a well timed run and J Mac really lifted him late when required to win. He’s got improvement to come and should be around the mark again.
2 Kobe Rocks (Bet Now: $8.50 TOP ODDS) can be an improver here. Resumed in the Expat race from three weeks back at Rosehill. Had a suck run behind the speed and was there to win but condition just gave out late, which was somewhat surprising given his two trials, he was pushed out both times. Best is good enough.
Race 3. (13:40) Tab Highway Hcp (c2) 1400m
15 Furphy (Bet Now: $11.00 TOP ODDS) is a fruit loop upstairs but no denying the talent he has. Bombed the start by several lengths at Rosehill three weeks back in a Highway and did a remarkable job to get as close as he did. Two trials since have been sharp pieces of work, and I think 1400m here will suit.
4 King’s Trust (Bet Now: $7.50 TOP ODDS) is a few weeks between runs for Terry Robinson since racing in a Highway at Rosehill. Thought the ride from Tommy Berry was a peach and deserved a win, but had to settle for a narrow second to Testator Silens. If 1400m isn’t an issue, he’ll be around the mark.
10 Danza In The Dark (Bet Now: $14.00 TOP ODDS) looks to have returned in good order. Resumed over 1200m at Tamworth in what looked a strong 58 and he stuck to the task pretty well behind Majority when third. Much better suited up in trip, which he is here, and does have more upside than most.
Race 4. (14:15) Midway (bm72) 1200m
4 Queen Bellissimo (Bet Now: $2.80 TOP ODDS) for me. Spanked them fresh at Kembla before racing two weeks ago at Rosehill when opting for cover and tried hard when third to El Buena. Back to Midway level, I’d love to see her ridden positively, hopefully on speed. If so, I think she’ll take a power of beating here.
2 Prince Invincible (Bet Now: $6.50 TOP ODDS) gets the dry track he is after and I think can be a big improver here. Resumed on a wet track at Rosehill and struggled to pick his feet up behind Irish Angel, who ran well here last Saturday, so the form reads well. If he can get on speed without spending too many petrol tickets, think he’ll be dangerous.
14 Twice As Special (Bet Now: $12.00 TOP ODDS) is on the seven day back up for Jason Coyle after racing last Saturday on testing ground at Kembla. She was well specked at odds and loomed to win but had to settle for a second to a progressive type, Never Second. Not sure she wins here, but one for multiples.
Race 5. (14:50) Precise Air (bm88) 2000m
If you can find a stayer with a turn of foot, you’ll be winning races and 3 Huetor (Bet Now: $3.80) fits that bill. He was a great winner at Rosehill two weeks ago and his late splits were some of the best of the meeting, and considering he was second up with 60kg, the win had enormous merit. He’s heading in the right direction and can win again.
7 Welsh Legend (Bet Now: $5.50) is another in this race with good upside. She was second up at 2000m at Rosehill and 400m out, it was no betting. Looked all over a winner but had to settle for a narrow second to Huetor. Improvement to come, she has to be given serious respect.
1 Mubariz (Bet Now: $10.00) does have somewhat of a class edge and with the claim, he’s well in. Ran over the mile here last Saturday and closed off his race quite well I thought when fourth to impressive winner Lightning Jack. Crying out for more ground, which he gets here, and Waller horses on the back up is a big tick.
Race 6. (15:25) Unsw (bm78) 1400m
3 Saigon (Bet Now: $4.60) looks to have returned in really good order for Chris Waller. Resumed at Rosehill two weeks ago and she charged late from off the speed, just missing out on the win when second to Shihonka. Fitter and up to 1400m, bigger track, she’ll take beating here.
7 Mollycoddle (Bet Now: $8.50) is racing in good form for James Cummings. Ran over 1300m at Rosehill three weeks back where the race shape and track pattern wasn’t in her corner but I thought she was good in defeat behind Expat. Think she commands respect here.
Jason Coyle and connections could produce a ‘Greatest Hits’ album of unlucky runs 9 Air To Air (Bet Now: $12.00) has had in her career, her last start being the latest unlucky run. With clear air, she fights the finish out and goes close to winning, but that has been the story of her life. If she’s good odds again, have to have something small on.
Race 7. (16:00) Chandon Garden Spritz (bm78) 1600m
Back to the mile I see as a positive for 2 Cisco Bay (Bet Now: $11.00). 1800m was probably a bridge too far last time out at Rosehill but he was far from disgraced in defeat behind a smart horse, Lord Ardmore. He saves his best for the mile and the track should be on the firmer side this time around.
8 Francesco Guardi (Bet Now: $2.00) is a thinker IMO so I couldn’t back him to win, but concede he’s racing well enough to be around the mark. He looked the winner at Rosehill last time but even the magic of J Mac couldn’t get him home when second to Waihaha Falls. Bursting to win, likely can, maybe here…but not with my coin. Rather see him do it first.
3 Canasta (Bet Now: $7.50) is hard fit and back to 78 grade, he appeals. Looked to get a cheap lead at Rosehill two weeks ago but couldn’t quite finish it off and had to settle for a fourth to Katalin. Back to 78 and getting close to peak fitness, with a good run on speed, he’s a key threat.
Race 8. (16:40) Acy Securities Hcp 1400m
9 Bigboyroy (Bet Now: $2.70) is racing very well for Chris Waller. His problem being he just keeps finding one or two better on the day, last start seeing him find one better when a narrow second to Katalin. That was his first run in over a month so you’d like to think there is room for improvement.
5 Bottega (Bet Now: $4.40) is a bludger of a horse. Bludger in the sense he is hard to back to win with confidence, but he’s teasing as if he’s come back in good order. Liked the way he moved in a recent Canterbury trial win and the key to him is firm decks, which he gets here, plus Tommy Berry sticks from the trial.
3 Prime Candidate (Bet Now: $11.00) should be suited back to 1400m. 1500m was a bridge too far in the Festival last time and struggled on the wet track as well so just forget he went around behind Ellsberg. He’s a dry tracker, so he’ll want a firmer deck. If he gets it here, he can bounce back.
Race 9. (17:20) Fujitsu General (bm88) 1200m
6 Much Much Better (Bet Now: $4.20), if there is something left in the tank, is the one to beat. He was the run of the day two weeks ago at Rosehill IMO given the serious heat that was put on near the speed and was entitled to drop away but he found and was only tiring the last 50m. If he finds the front and gets control, he’ll take a power of beating.
8 Tycoonist (Bet Now: $3.50) is in for a good prep. Chris Waller trained gelding that resumed over 1100m at Rosehill. Given a peach by J Mac and was there to win. Got hampered by Liberty Sun and could make a case to say it cost him the win when a narrow second to Mr Mosaic. Fitter and up to 1200m, he’ll take beating.
3 I Am Power (Bet Now: $8.00) deserves another chance. Resumed at Rosehill two weeks back and Mark Newnham said during the week leading in the horse would improve with the run and that’s how he raced. Produced very sharp splits to get into the race but blew out the final furlong. Better for the run, he can bounce back.
Race 10. (17:55) Schweppes Sprint (bm78) 1000m
I think 3 The Bopper (Bet Now: $3.70) can resume a winner for Kris Lees. He has the talent under the hood to be a proper Stakes class horse, but his manners can let him down. Blinkers off to me that reads just let the horse run in front, and that suits him on stats and his record. Hard to beat.
12 Leo (Bet Now: $3.20) has to command respect. He might be trained in the country, but he’s a Randwick specialist, and not just at Highway level. He showed at the end of last prep he can be a Saturday metro performer when a dominant winner at this track/distance, running very fast time. Trialled super leading in and flies fresh.
5 Easy Single (Bet Now: $5.00) should be suited back to 1000m. Ran over 1100m at Ballarat a few weeks ago in the 3&4YO Magic Millions and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Aquagirl, running a narrow second. He is a short course specialist so I think back to 1000m is a big tick.
