17/6/2017 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville

Racing returns to the course proper at Morphettville this Saturday where eight races will be run and won. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out two metres from the 1800m-1200m; True for the remainder.

Race One (12:23) : West Adelaide Football Club Handicap 1050m:

Back Me: 1 Kid Flash (Bet Now: $3.00) goes clearly on top for me here. Smart colt that resumes for Tony McEvoy after a two run Summer prep. Debuted with a tough but strong win at Geelong before being freshened up with an eye towards the Blue Diamond but stable pulled the pin after a fourth to Tulip. That form reads so well for this and his trials have been outstanding.
Big Danger: 3 Eclair Sunshine (Bet Now: $4.40) is an All Too Hard gelding that is first up here for Phillip Stokes and should be respected big time. He had two runs during the Autumn, resuming at Balaklava when second to Azzuro Bianco before being outclassed in the Magic Millions behind Undoubtable Miss. He looked very good in a trial win here last week and is ready to go to my eye.
Long Shot: 7 From The Clouds (Bet Now: $5.00) has always promised a fair bit but just hasn’t quite put it all together. That changed big time when resuming on the Pakenham Synthetic. Not sure she beat much but she absolutely spanked them, ran time and did it without being fully extended. Promising and is a key threat.

Race Two (12:58) : Adelaide Image Printing Handicap (82) 2500m:

Back Me: 2 Super Haze (Bet Now: $2.10) looks one of the better bets on the program. Tony McEvoy trained stayer that ran a beauty at this track/distance two back in the Port Adelaide Cup behind stablemate Time To Test before going to the Parks track where she spanked them. No reason why he can’t repeat the dose here.
Big Danger: 4 Pretty Punk (Bet Now: $3.00) ran second to Super Haze in the race on the Parks track a fortnight back and I thought her effort in defeat was pretty good. Did a bit of work from the sticky draw to get up near the speed and though she lacked the turn of foot, I thought she stuck on well. Run prior behind Ana Royale reads well for this.
Long Shot: 7 Duquessa (Bet Now: $31.00) was unwanted in betting in the Super Haze but I thought she was a real eye catcher, getting a mile back in the run but she worked home with real purpose, though never a winning threat. Good record on the course proper and up to 2500m is a big tick. A must for exotics.

Race Three (13:36) : Adelaide Galvanising Handicap (70) 1600m:

Back Me: 4 Trogir (Bet Now: $4.20) clearly on top for me here. Stokes trained gelding who has been quite good this time in. The latest start came over 1550m on the Parks track three weeks back where he settled off the pace and chased hard but had to settle for second to Lethal Bond. Up to the mile on the course proper looks ideal and he rates highly.
Big Danger: 6 Gogo Grace (Bet Now: $2.25) is a really good filly for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp who is on the seven day back up after racing over 1300m on the Parks track last Saturday where she was enormous in defeat behind Hussy’s Glow given she was back and wide throughout yet kept surging to just miss. Looks beautifully placed up to 1600m and is a key threat.
Long Shot: 8 Unrelated (Bet Now: $21.00) comes through the Lethal Bond race on the Parks track three weeks ago and despite being outclassed, I thought this Richard Jolly trained gelding was more than satisfactory in defeat. His overall record doesn’t read great, but he has contested races with really good depth throughout his career and has been far from disgraced.

Race Four (14:13) : Ali Bryant 50 Shades Of Fabulous Handicap (70) 2003m:

Back Me: 10 Ace Attack (Bet Now: $3.30) takes on the older horses here but I am happy to be in his corner in what looks a thin race. He hasn’t raced since May 24 at this track/distance when heavily backed but nothing really went right for him from the sticky draw when third to impressive winner Power Glen. Just needs normal luck here and he’ll go close.
Big Danger: 9 Chosen Angel (Bet Now: $5.00) is a winner at this track/distance from last prep and she gets to it for the for the first time this campaign. Ran over 1400m on the Parks track a fortnight back and I really liked the way she finished off her race when fourth to Lord Topper. 1400m to 2000m is never easy, but she has upside and does tick a few boxes here.
Long Shot: 7 Sasun (Bet Now: $16.00) looks ready for the step up in trip. He ran over the mile at Strathalbyn a couple of Wednesdays back where I thought he was pretty good late after getting back near last in the run. He is proven at this trip and is only third up here, so he has plenty of upside left and is a knockout chance at odds.

Race Five (14:53) : Regency Showerscreens & Wardrobes Handicap (70) 1100m:

Back Me: 8 Sawaiki (Bet Now: $5.00) is the big watch here. Regally bred gelding that resumes for the Kennewell camp after another somewhat frustrating prep during the Summer, but he did break the maiden tag in the campaign. Trial last week was outstanding and if he does put it all together, he can blow them away.
Big Danger: 4 Neapolitan (Bet Now: $6.00) is a quality filly for the Stokes yard that is first up here. She ran three times during the Spring Carnival and was far from disgraced each time, including a run at Flemington on Cup Day. Trial was very good, she goes well fresh and I’d definitely watch the market re this filly.
Long Shot: 13 Time Out (Bet Now: $23.00) is a much better filly than what her record reads. She has contested some pretty good races throughout her career and has been far from disgraced each time. He resumed on the Parks track a fortnight back and worked home okay late in the piece behind Alta Stella. Suited on the course proper and is a knockout hope.

Race Six (15:33) : Happy 95th Birthday Noella Greenham Handicap (70) 1600m:

Back Me: 10 Mr Liberty (Bet Now: $4.40) for me here. A drifter in the market when racing over 1400m on the Parks track two weeks ago but he finished off his race with real purpose from the back to run fourth to Lord Topper, beaten just over a length. He was back in trip from the mile that day, so back up to 1600m looks ideal and he rates highly.
Big Danger: 5 Miss Joolia (Bet Now: $9.00) is a frustrating mare to follow but she has shown enough times now to never entirely rule her out. She ran during the Swan Hill Carnival last week over the mile and just got too far back in the run, plus came out wide which wasn’t really the spot to be for the meeting. Would prefer her on the Parks track, but as I said, you can’t dismiss her.
Long Shot: 8 Eclair Attack (Bet Now: $9.00) has been an overall disappointment this time in but we know that with his A game, he can certainly beat these. Looks ready for the mile after racing over 1250m on the Parks track a couple of weeks back where he stuck on well and wasn’t beaten far behind Beautiful Voice. Looking for further and he gets it here.

Race Seven (16:13) : Dowie Doole Wines Handicap (75) 1200m:

Back Me: 12 Clonmel (Bet Now: $7.00) just picks himself here and is a standout on the program IMO. Former O’Leary runner who has had two runs for Will Clarken and has been outstanding each time, winning both races. Clarken is on par with Weir in terms of getting a new lease of life on tried horses. Should be winning.
Big Danger: 5 Counter Spin (Bet Now: $4.20) was completely luckless here two back behind Chase The Horizon before backing up seven days later on the Parks track where he ran a game third to Municipality. Does tend to save his best for the course proper and three weeks between runs should do him the world of good.
Long Shot: 9 Artie Fred (Bet Now: $13.00) nearly got the win on the board on Monday at Mornington but just missed out on the win when second to Caprese, who is a proven city performer. I like that he is on the quick back up and the stable do have a very good record when bringing horses to Adelaide.

Race Eight (16:51) : Happy Birthday John Lewis Handicap (64) 1050m:

Back Me: 11 Go Arrivederci (Bet Now: $11.00) gets the nod for me here in a really tough short course event. This mare has come back in really good order for Tony McEvoy, resuming with a third behind Superchic, who ran well in town last week, before going to Strathalbyn where she beat all bar the low flying Clonmel. That looks really good form for this.
Big Danger: Pretty keen here on 12 Gold Denari (Bet Now: $3.40) to go close here. Thought there was alot of merit in her first up performance over 1000m on the Parks track a fortnight ago. Was back and wide throughout and took a little while to wind up, but you really had to like her final 200m. Back onto the course proper, with the run under the belt, she’ll take something.
Long Shot: 2 Hasta La Gorby (Bet Now: $26.00) is a Sue Murphy trained gelding who deserves a crack in town off the back of a hard fought on speed win last time out at Penola where he copped decent heat at the front end and looked gone a couple of times but kicked back strongly to win. Tougher here, but he gets good weight relief and is tough.
