The Belmont Winter Carnival continues this Saturday where it is Belmont Guineas Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

2 Blackwater Bay (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bursting to win a race and he gets his chance here for Adam Durrant. He has raced over this trip his past two, the latest run being two weeks ago here where he tried his guts out from off the speed but just couldn’t quite get there when second to the very much in form Fear The Wind. No Fear The Wind here, he’s clearly the one to beat.

7 The Dominican (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the one with good upside and comes here in form. Didn’t beat much over the mile at Northam last time but he lapped up the wet track and was very impressive the way he gave them a start and a beating from the back. Pike taking over is a good lead and the rise in trip should be fine, as should wet ground. Key threat.

4 Black Money (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. This gelding ran four weeks back at this track/distance and was solid from the back I thought without threatening the very much in form Fear The Wind, who of course franked the form two weeks ago. Smaller field should ensure he won’t be as far away and off last start, he can take this out.

8 Princess Lacillia (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a sharp filly for Team Williams and confident she can make it 2/2 to start her career. Her debut came over this track/distance last Wednesday where she lobbed outside the speed and was absolutely trucking under Pike before he clicked the filly up and away she went, drawing clear for a dominant win. Can only see upside/improvement and if indeed that is the case, good luck beating her.

1 Rope Them In (Bet Now:  $SP.00) creates interest. Steve Wolfe trained jvuenile that was big odds when debuting over 1000m here two weeks ago but he was well tried at a price. #They got it spot on, as he produced a brilliant finale from the back to win impressively. Off that, 1200m should be fine for him and with better race sense, he can settle closer and still be effective late.

5 King Cartel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. He resumed two weeks back behind Rope Them In in the race mentioned above. He was very keen in the run behind the speed and I reckon it took away something from his finale, finishing down the track. Had trialled really well prior to that so I want to give him another look.

I want to give 2 Keep Attacking (Bet Now:  $SP.00) another look. He ran last Saturday over 1300m here when wide no cover for the trip and that hard run told in the straight, tiring late to finish down the track behind Probity. Back to 1200m I like, he backs up so the stable must be pleased with how he pulled up, he maps better and gets Harvey, so he has a bit going for him to take this out.

10 Desert Vixen (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Simon Miller trained mare that is four weeks between runs since racing over 1300m here where she had the suck run in transit behind the speed and things just didn’t eventuate for her behind Katona, beaten under three lengths. She is a mare who races best with fresh legs so the break between runs is fine and Pike takes over.

6 Forest War (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. She ran over 1300m at Northam last time out where she got a fair way back in the run and was good late without threatening, beaten three lengths by Paigey’s Turn. Has a good record at Belmont and in a truly run 1200m, I think he will get his chance to sit back and finish off strong.

7 Berbere (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a nice horse and no reason why he can’t remain unbeaten. Gave them a spanking on debut at Pinjarra before being spelled. He resumed last Wednesday over this track/distance where he sat on speed and seemingly was somewhat struggling in the conditions but he kept finding under Harvey and was strong to the line in winning. With enormous upside to come, he rates highly.

9 Givemeonereason (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is finding it very hard to win but is an honest animal for Simon Miller that should be around the mark. He ran three weeks ago at this track/distance where he had the dream sit behind the speed and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite get there when a narrow third to Sky Duke. Backing him to win is a task, but he has to be considered a threat given his consistently good runs.

8 Divine Inanna (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Jim Taylor trained filly that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since march 23 when a solid second at Pinjarra behind Rusty Dreams, who has gone on to be a multiple city winner. Better suited over further but has trialled up really well in readiness for her return and will be strong late if they overdo it.

2 Crescent City (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has returned in super order and rates as one of the hardest to beat for Team Williams. He was outstanding when winning first up over 1400m here two weeks ago. He made a sustained run from off the speed and was entitled to knock up but he just kept finding and surged hard late to nab stablemate Catalpa. You’d like to think he has good upside to come and Pike takes over.

5 Knot Secret (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been up a while but is holding his form really well. He is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance when off the speed under Pike before being presented clear air and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite get there when second to Ginger Baker, who won again last Saturday to frank the form. Only has to hold his form to be around the mark.

6 Position Of Power (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has had two runs at the 1400m and now fourth up at the mile, he gets a set up to run a much improved race. He ran in the Crescent City race from two weeks back mentioned above. He was just off the speed throughout but couldn’t quite get involved behind the Williams runner. Reckon with a more conservative steer, he can run an improved race.

5 Extra Secret (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a great bet. Donna Riordan trained mare that had her first run for the new stable over 1200m here last Wednesday where the market said she had three legs and while she didn’t win, she ran a beauty, closing off with purpose when second to Defiant Diorite. Enormous upside to come, extra 100m suits and gets Pike on, so she has plenty going for her.

12 Duchess Of Gossip (Bet Now:  $SP.00) could have gone to the Guineas but instead runs here. She is looking to make it three wins on the bounce, the latest win being over 1400m here a fortnight back when given a 12/10 by Brad Parnham and in a driving finish, was able to get the job done. Like her slightly back in trip and this is another winnable race compared to what she won last time.

2 Thorogood (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be given another look for David Harrison. He ran over the mile at Northam last time out and was too bad to be true when down the track behind Mojo Rhythm, tailed off last. I think back to 1300m is a big tick for him and he does save his best for Belmont, so an improved showing is definitely on the cards.

11 Rare Encounter (Bet Now:  $SP.00) doesn’t win out of turn but she does strike a winnable race here. Donna Riordan trains this mare, who had the first run for the new stable over 1400m here two weeks ago and things just didn’t pan out for her. She got held up at times and didn’t get a chance to build the revs behind Black Spirit. Fitter and up to the mile are two big ticks and Pike sticks.

2 Black Spirit (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a good record at the mile and it’s hard to knock the way she’s racing. She won over 1400m here a fortnight back, leading throughout and what I liked is that she was there to be run down but found under pressure to fend them off and get the win. Last bit will test but she’ll give a big sight from on speed.

10 Paigey’s Turn (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one that can be entertained for wider multiples. She was unwanted in betting when resuming over 1300m at Northam but credit to her, she gave them a start and a beating, launching late to finish over the top for a big win. Better suited over further but off the first up win, I think she has to be respected here.

3 Demolish (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is better suited over further but he is the class of the field IMO and won’t mind juice in the track so with that in mind, I am in his corner. He hasn’t raced since the WA Derby where he failed to see out the 2400m and it was an end of prep run when down the track behind Awesome John. Not a noted fresh horse, but looked great in a recent trial here and fresh at 1600m signals he is forward enough to run well.

4 Upper Limits (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the one from the Raconteur IMO. He was dragged back from the gate and spotted them a decent start but you had to like the way he found the line when third to Vast Art, who unfortunately isn’t here. He’ll love the rise to the mile, can settle much closer from the gate and gets Pike aboard.

9 Amjaad (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. This filly has had two runs for Indianna Weinert, catching the eye first up behind the in form Without Reg before a strong win over 1400m at Pinjarra last Sunday, sitting off the speed before angling into clear air and finished over the top. The mile should be okay for her and has upside to come IMO.

7 Rokanori (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and he can certainly go on with it. He was disappointing to start the prep with a couple of below par efforts but he bounced back to positive form a fortnight back at this track/distance with Pike really lifting him late when it counted to get the job done. He has got the talent under the hood to be Stakes class and off a win, I think he can give this a shake.

10 Gemma’s Son (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect. He has been somewhat of an enigma throughout time but he looks like he is in for a good prep. He resumed over 1000m here last Saturday and was unlucky not to win, getting badly held up at times before eventually getting clear and drove hard late to just miss out on the win. Fitter, up in trip, he will run well again.

1 Ginger Flyer (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Simon Miller trained mare that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since December 17 when producing an end of prep run in the Starstruck when leading and tiring late behind Alsephina. She is a mare who tends to race best on the fresh side, early on in the prep, and the recent trial was a pretty good piece of work.

BEST BET: Race Five Number 2 Crescent City

NEXT BEST: Race One Number 2 Blackwater Bay

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 3 Demolish
