The Belmont racing season begins this Saturday, headlined by the Provincial Championship Final (1400m). The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out two metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. Bisley Workwear Plate 1000m
4 Buckled (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the way I am leaning. Simon Miller trained juvenile that resumes, having not raced since Dec 7 over this trip at Ascot when near the speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there behidn Castle Road. Trialled well for the return and this isn’t a deep contest.
2 Perfect Sister (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) commands respect for Dan Morton after a debut win at Ascot before going to the Karrakatta Plate when outclassed but far from disgraced in defeat behind Talkanco. Back to 1000m and back in overall depth, she appeals.
5 Now You See Me (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be given another look. Thought he did more than enough when placing fresh before going to Ascot again two weeks back where he was too bad to be true when down the track behind Capitola. His best is good enough so don’t dismiss him.
Race 2. Free Entry To Belmont Handicap 1000m
3 Kay Tee Why (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) picks himself I feel. He got a 12/10 from Pike to win two weeks ago at Ascot, getting a soft run on the fence before slicing his way through the field and knuckled down with purpose late to win and win well. Bigger track, strong late, in form, keen.
6 Anaballistic (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks hard to beat. Simon Miller trained filly that has been strong in two runs back from a spell, both over 1000m at Ascot. She won first up before a placing last Wednesday when off speed and working home well. Think she runs well against these.
5 Allentown (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Charm Spirit that resumes for Michael Grantham. He is first up, having not raced since Aug 31 over this track/distance when near the speed and just felt the pinch late behind Madhi Girl. Has trialled well leading in so watch betting.
Race 3. Lawn Pride Australia Handicap (66+) 1000m
7 Prospector’s Pick (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should take beating despite being four weeks between runs. But that run was an electric first up win at Ascot when getting the sweet sit in transit behind the speed before angling clear and finished best to score. He can keep progressing and win again.
1 Keep Ita Mystery (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) takes on the older horses but he is a three year old with good talent for Luke Fernie. He ran over 1000m a fortnight back at Ascot and was good late from off the speed behind Richanco. He tends to race best at Belmont and overall, this isn’t a deep contest.
4 Sebonack (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. He was formerly with Team Hawkes but now finds himself with Team Gangemi. His best form is clearly good enough to beat this and his trial work to get ready has been strong so watch betting.
Race 4. Tabtouch Handicap (1MW) 2100m
2 Audio Boy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top in what looks a two horse race. He ran over 1800m two weeks ago at Ascot when near the speed and presented to win but the leader/winner had it soft, kicked and fought on super to win. The rise in trip, I think, is fine, and he has more to come.
3 Famous Dain (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes to town for Team Pearce after a spank job win last Thursday at Albany where he looked a good thing on paper and duly saluted to win and win well. Yet to really fire in four runs at Ascot, but 2100m is fine, good racing style and Pike is on.
8 Admired (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one at odds that can be entertained as a first four threat. He ran over 1920m at York last time when off speed and kept chasing without threatening behind Heaps Of Moolah. Like him up in trip and he has won at Ascot previously.
Race 5. Mrs Mac's Handicap (72+) 1600m
2 Trio (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is flying and should prove hard to beat. Three weeks between runs since winning at Ascot, giving them a start and a beating in a very strong performance, wearing down the in form Western Power. He has a good record at Belmont and really, he only has to hold his form to win again.
6 Bondi Plunge (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) tends to save her best for Belmont and commands respect. She ran over 1400m at Ascot a fortnight back where she got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there behind Madame Magic. Back to where she races best, she is a threat.
9 Planet Cash (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 1400m at Ascot when wide no cover throughout and the hard run just told on him late in the piece behind Siberian Siren, who won again last Saturday to frank the form. His best is good enough so don’t dismiss him.
Race 6. Ascend Sales Trophies Handicap (1MW) 1200m
4 Close Talker (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to have returned well for Simon Miller and should take beating against these after resuming over 1200m at Ascot where she got off speed but was an eye catcher late, working home with purpose behind Romming Danger. Good track/distance record, Pike on, she takes beating.
10 American Escape (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Dan Morton trained filly that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since the 3YO Magic Millions at Pinjarra in February when far from disgraced in defeat behind Smooth Chino. Given a good break and thought she went like a rocket in a recent trial win.
2 Sky Duke (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will land near the speed and look to give his all. He ran over this trip at Ascot two weeks back when settling in the first few and he tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite get there when bloused late by Hammarmill. Like him at Ascot, will press forward and be dangerous.
Race 7. Tabtouch Handicap (0MWLY) 1300m
4 Why Me (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the way I am going. Brandon Fiore trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since Jan 18 over 1800m at Ascot when wide no cover throughout and the hard run just told on him late in the piece. He has been given a good break and his trial work has been quite good so each way, he’ll do me.
7 Bohemian Diamond (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Dan Morton trained mare that resumes. This mare is first up, with her last run coming over 1400m at Ascot on Oct 19 when back in the run and made up minimal headway behind Pull The Trigger. Good fresh horse and her recent trial was solid.
10 Royal Gap (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has returned well and is a key threat for Ashley Maley. He resumed over 1200m at Geraldton when wide no cover throughout and despite the hard run, he stayed on and was game in defeat behind Dirty Chai. Not sure he wins, but is a first four threat.
Race 8. Provincial Championship Series Final (60+) 1400m
3 Camera Action (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) does look the one to beat. She is on the quick back up after racing at Northam on Sunday over 1300m when off speed and chased with purpose in the straight when a close up second to Manhattan Strip. Track/distance winner and hard to knock the way she’s racing.
13 Psycho Sista (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be better for the first up run over 1200m at Pinjarra when attempting to lead throughout and she gave a strong kick from the front but condition just gave way late in the piece when third. Fitter, good racing style, she appeals.
6 Looks (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is two weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Ascot where he attempted to lead throughput and gave a strong kick from the front but just felt the pinch late in the piece behind Madame Magic. That form does read well for this IMO.
Race 9. Kitt Logistics Handicap (66+) 1400m
4 Dug Another Hole (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a straight bat play for me here in an open race. He sat on speed over this trip at Ascot last time, giving a strong kick but had no answers late for Late Arrival. Good racing style and this isn’t a strong race on paper.
12 Black Ora (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) can bounce back hard on the firmer deck. Track was a bit on the wet side at Ascot last time and just whacked in the run to the line behind Richanco. Prior efforts were quite good so don’t dismiss her.
1 Speed Dream (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after a strong placing last Saturday at Ascot where he saved ground nearer the inside and worked home well enough behind Siberian Siren. If he can run up to that effort here, he’s around the mark.
