Metro racing in SA this Saturday heads to Gawler for a strong card, highlighted by a couple of quality jumps races. The weather is fine, the track is soft (7) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race One (12:02) : Wolf Blass Wines Steeple 3340m:
Back Me: 4 Zed Em (Bet Now: $1.24) is a quality jumper from NZ who comes here with a pretty good record, though not quite as good as stablemate Sea King. This isn’t a strong race and he should take some beating.
Big Danger: 2 Bold Zamour (Bet Now: $6.00) pulled up last Sunday in the Thackeray where he just didn’t handle the bottomless track. Back home now and outside the top tip, this is a thin race. Exotic player.
Roughie: 6 Zabrock (Bet Now: $26.00) is the $26 rank outsider, and really that is severe unders given his form…but it’s a jumps race and it’s a small field…anything can happen…that’s about the only positive I can find.

Race Two (12:37) : Sportsbet Cash Card Hurdle 3340m:
Back Me: 2 Slowpoke Rodriguez (Bet Now: $2.00) looks the way to go here after slogging it out best to win over 2400m at Bendigo on the flat. He has since trialled well over the jumps and there is just upside.
Big Danger: 3 Shearer (Bet Now: $4.80) won well two back at Pakenham before running in a hurdle race at Casterton and was pretty good in defeat behind Gold Medals. He has been one of the more consistent types over the jumps this season and looks the main threat to the top tip.
Roughie: 4 Finley Harper (Bet Now: $5.50) contested a hurdle at the Bool last Sunday and pulled up due to the bottomless surface. He will improve here on the firmer surface and can bounce back to form.

Race Three (13:12) : Goldin Farms/Akeed Mofeed Handicap (82) 1700m:
Back Me: 2 Eigelstein (Bet Now: $3.80) has just found a new lease on life at the moment, winning two races in the space of seven days in very impressive fashion. Three on the trot in town isn’t easy, but it’s hard to ignore his recent form.
Big Danger: 5 Lotion (Bet Now: $3.00) had the dream run behind the speed in that Eigelstein race mentioned above where he had his chance and battled away for third. I think with Neilson back aboard and the weight pull, he can turn the tables and he should take some beating.
Roughie: Just forget 4 Creance (Bet Now: $6.50) went around on the Parks track a fortnight back given he sat on speed and that just isn’t his go, dropping out to finish near last behind General Custer. If ridden with cover, he can definitely bounce back.

Race Four (13:50) : Mitavite And Sanders Fodder Handicap 1100m:
Back Me: 4 Mica Be The One (Bet Now: $6.00) debuted at the midweeks at Morphettville Parks a tick over three weeks back and was backed in betting and the punters faith was rewarded with a narrow but strong win. She’s bred to be a handy type and that debut was a terrific starting point. Confident she’ll measure up here and she’s a leading contender.
Roughie: 7 She Ra (Bet Now: $3.10) resumes here for John Hyam. She raced twice during the Autumn, both of which were behind the above average youngster Neapolitan. No trials, but there were good signs in those two runs, and this isn’t a strong race.
Roughie: 6 Pujols (Bet Now: $14.00) debuted back in February and just wasn’t suited on the Parks where on speed horses dominated when down the track behind Benz. He has been given plenty of time since that run, he’s in the right stable and this isn’t a strong race.

Race Five (14:27) : Family Day Roast @ Gawler July 30 Handicap (70) 2100m:
Back Me: 1 Allez Tara looks the way to go here. He was spacked at odds to win last start and that little move almost came off when third to the in form stayer General Custer. Big, big drop in depth here, and he looks so well suited at the weights.
Big Danger: 5 Romanee Vince (Bet Now: $13.00) steps up to 2100m after running over the mile at Morphettville a fortnight back where he was wide no cover for the trip, so just forget he went around. Yet to be proven at this distance, but who am I to doubt Tony McEvoy.
Roughie: 12 Silent Man (Bet Now: $26.00) ran over 2250m at the midweeks at Morphettville Parks a tick over three weeks back and forget he went around given he was off speed in a leader dominated race and he lost a plate during the run. He is better than that and I think the drop back to 2100m will be ideal.

Race Six (15:07) : Kingsford Hotel Handicap (70) 1500m:
Back Me: 3 God Forbid (Bet Now: $15.00) attempted to lead all the way last time out at Bendigo and gave a strong kick in the straight, but he was near the inside, which wasn’t the spot to be when third to Savatone. He has the talent to beat these for sure.
Big Danger: 10 Vintage Grove (Bet Now: $8.00) raced over 1800m at Morphettville a fortnight back and stuck to the task quite gamely behind stablemate Optimize. Back to 1500m should suit and she will be strong late.
Roughie: 5 Vega De Lago (Bet Now: $16.00) was unwanted in betting last time out at Mildura but gee he showed a lovely turn of foot when presented and won like a really good horse. Didn’t beat much but the manner in which he did it really caught my eye.

Race Seven (15:47) : Schweppes Pepsi Handicap 1200m:
Back Me: 2 Riziz (Bet Now: $3.30) has been given a four week freshen up since resuming over 1200m at the Valley where he finished down the track behind Voodoo Lad in what has turned out to be a hot form race. Returns back home and he has a great second up record.
Big Danger: 1 Daytona Grey (Bet Now: $2.00) is the class runner engaged who won this race last year on a similar racing surface. He won over 1050m three weeks back at Morphettville and produced a brilliant finish from off the pace to win. He can repeat the dose here.
Roughie: 8 Sandhill Warrior (Bet Now: $7.00) is first up here but has been supported already in betting which is a good lead. He hasn’t raced since April when finishing down the track at Balaklava but gee he looked sharp in a recent Murray Bridge trial win and the punters agree.

Race Eight (16:27) : Adelaide Galvanising Handicap (70) 1500m:
Back Me: 7 Bang For Ya Buck (Bet Now: $13.00) was unwanted in betting when racing on the Parks track a tick over three weeks back but she showed pretty good grit to lead all the way narrowly but impressively. Damien Thornton is having a pretty good with Tony McEvoy and she looks to have good upside.
Big Danger: 1 Spinning Diamond (Bet Now: $4.60) attempted to lead all the way two weeks ago at Morphettville and he gave a pretty handy kick but she just tired late when fourth to Eigelstein. I think ridden with cover, she can bounce back.
Roughie: 3 Any Given Glass (Bet Now: $6.50) ran a couple of weeks back at Donald where he sat wide no cover on speed yet he was just far too good for his rivals. Stable has a really good record when bringing horses to town and he gets really good weight relief.

Race Nine (17:07) : Coopers Clear Handicap (70) 1100m:
Back Me: 4 Urban Bourbon (Bet Now: $7.00) wasn’t really wanted in betting when resuming at Morphettville two weeks back but he showed a lovely turn of foot when presented by Jason Holder to get the job done impressively. He only has natural upside and has run some good races at the track.
Big Danger: 5 War Thunder (Bet Now: $4.40) is a handy galloper that resumes here. He ran some very good races during the Summer and Autumn, which ended with a game second to Shaf in the Sprint Final during the Carnival. Recent trial was very good and though drawn wide, is a major threat.
Roughie: 8 Famous Jayne (Bet Now: $8.50) resumed at Morphettville three weeks back where she tried hard but was simply no match for the eventual winner Correct Call who produced a brilliant finishing burst. Runs well second up and this isn’t a strong race.
