The biggest raceday on the Toowoomba calendar comes around this Saturday with the eight race card highlighted by the Weetwood Handicap (1200m), Toowoomba Cup (2150m) and the Toowoomba Guineas (1625m). The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race One (12:13) : K&R Plumbing Supplies Handicap (80) 1625m:
Back Me: 2 Ruling Force (Best Odds: $2.90) ran over the mile three weeks back at Doomben and stuck on strongly behind Reckless Abandon, who franked the form by winning again last Saturday. Bit easier here I suspect so he will take some holding out, especially if he gets a cheap run on speed.
Big Danger: 6 Col ‘N’ Lil (Best Odds: $3.20) was a very impressive first up winner before racing a touch flat second up behind Lucky Black, who ran well behind Sir Moments last weekend to frank the form. Trained on the track and she is ready to bounce back third up.
Roughie: 5 Bodega Negra (Best Odds: $21.00) is an absolute nightmare to follow, bug this is the easiest race he has contested in ages. Ran tenth in that Lucky Black race and just didn’t get involved. On his best form, he’d beat these, so include him in exotics.

Race Two (12:48) : Wellcamp Airport Handicap (75) 1050m:
Back Me: 3 Star Drop (Best Odds: $5.50) is a quality mare that resumes here for Rex Lipp. She won three from four during the Spring and has tuned up for her return to racing with a nice trial here on March 29. She can sprint well fresh and draws a soft gate.
Big Danger: 13 Lilly The Filly (Best Odds: $17.00) was unwanted in betting when resuming at Doomben but she stuck on strongly from the back to run fourth to Lady Jetsetter. She will love a fast tempo here, and if the breaks go her way, she’ll storm home over the top and looks a great each-way bet.
Roughie: 10 Pandora Charm (Best Odds: $31.00) steps up in grade and down in trip after racing over 1200m here last start at the Gold Coast. She stuck on alright but could only manage a fifth to Sambuca Shot. Senior city rider goes aboard now and the drop back in trip will be ideal.

Race Three (13:23) : Wimmers Premium Soft Drinks Handicap (75) 1050m:
Back Me: 10 Gracida (Best Odds: $4.00) has won two from two this time in, the latest coming at this trip at Doomben on a heavy track where he sat on speed and just spanked his rivals. He will cop pressure here no doubt, but he is in form and looks well weighted IMO given the current vein of form he is in.
Big Danger: 9 Brooklyn Storm (Best Odds: $4.00) ran last Wednesday at Warwick Farm and just didn’t quite run the 1200m out when running fourth to impressive winner Well Hardley Ever. Back to 1050m is ideal and stable rarely leaves empty handed when sending horses interstate.
Roughie: 5 Executed (Best Odds: $6.00) ran over this trip a couple of weeks back at Doomben and closed off hard near the inside when running second to Lady Jetsetter, savaging the line late. He’ll get the speed on here again and he will be strong at the end of a fast run 1050m.

Race Four (14:00) : Moore Trailers Dalrello Stakes 1200m:
Back Me: 6 Love Spy (Best Odds: $3.80) resumed over the 1110m at Doomben a fortnight back where she attempted to lead all the way but just felt the pinch late when running third to Spot The Diff. Trained on the track so no doubt she will be wound up to win and the form around her from all three career outings has been very good, so she goes on top for me.
Big Danger: 10 Sugarparma (Best Odds: $11.00) has been given a month freshen up since running third to Alliterate in the Wellington Boot. The first two over the line both ran cracking races during the Championships at Randwick so her form reads very well and Peter Robl is a trainer who knows where to place his horses, and he looks to have found a lovely race for this filly.
Roughie: 1 Endless Days (Best Odds: $51.00) was an impressive winner first up before racing in that Spot The Diff race mentioned above where he just got too far back and couldn’t get into it. There is a bit to like about this gelding and he will be very strong at the end of a fast run 1200m, so he is a must for exotics, and a definite each-way investment.

Race Five (14:38) : Create Financial Solutions Toowoomba Guineas 1625m:
Back Me: 3 Emphasis (Best Odds: $7.50) ran over the Doomben mile last time out where he sat on speed and kicked on strongly to beat a Group l performer in I’m Belucci. Bit easier here I suspect and he is in ripping form, so he has to go on top.
Big Danger: 4 Havasay (Best Odds: $3.00) is a talented filly for the Birchley yard who comes here after a last start second to Fiery Heights over 1350m at Doomben. Little query on her running a strong mile, but she has the talent and upside to overcome it I suspect.
Roughie: 9 Bold And Groovy (Best Odds: $31.00) ran over 1400m last time out at the Sunny Coast where he got a fair way back and worked home alright for third. Bit harder here, but the mile looks ideal and he has plenty of upside.

Race Six (15:17) : XXXX Gold Toowoomba Cup 2150m:
Back Me: 2 Volkhere (Best Odds: $10.00) should be ready to show his best now. He ran over the mile at Doomben a fortnight back and closed off well when running fourth to My Quilter. He was ridden quiet in that race, but he is much better when he is on speed and aggressively ridden. Up to a more ideal trip now and one thing we know with him is that he will stay all day.
Big Danger: 3 Honey Toast (Best Odds: $2.25) was 2200m back to the mile when fighting on strongly to run second to My Quilter in that race mentioned above in what was a great effort and the ideal tune up for his hometown cup. He is a talented horse who will eat up the trip here and he will look the winner at some stage of the race for sure. He is a definite threat.
Roughie: 5 Trakstar (Best Odds: $4.60) isn’t one of my horses, but I liked the way he attacked the line last time out over 2020m at Doomben behind the Stakes performed Off The Rails. This horse isn’t known for being genuine, but smothered away and flashing might just be his go. If that scenario eventuates here, we know he has the talent to win, and the distance will be no issue.

Race Seven (15:57) : Audi Centre Toowoomba Weetwood Handicap 1200m:
Back Me: 2 Pillar Of Creation (Best Odds: $11.00) is loving his racing at the moment, winning his past two, both over 1350m at Doomben, with the latest coming on March 05. He ran a blinder in this race last year but is going far better 12 months on. Trained on the track and no doubt he will be wound up to win the feature sprint race on the home track.
Big Danger: 4 Jumbo Prince (Best Odds: $5.50) is another local who won on this day 12 months ago, winning the Toowoomba Guineas in very impressive fashion. He hasn’t raced since running midfield in the Magic Millions Trophy (1800m) behind star mare Tinto. No trials, but it is his hometown fetaure sprint, so expect him to be wound up.
Roughie: Ramornie Handicap winner 6 Rock Royalty (Best Odds: $11.00) hadn’t done a great deal since his track record breaking win in that feature sprint race at Grafton, but I thought there was good merit to his effort last time out when closing off strongly to run fourth to Casual Choice. He has more upside here given he is a big lump of a horse and does go into this fourth up. He won at Ipswich fourth up last time in before going to the Ramornie. Expect him to run well here.

Race Eight (16:37) : Toowoomba Plastics Plate (Class 6) 1200m:
Biack Me: 2 Lordag (Best Odds: $11.00) is a quality animal that resumes for the Rob Heathcoate yard. He hasn’t raced since racing on January 16 when winning impressively over 1800m. No trials leading in, but he can sprint well fresh and strikes a very winnable race.
Big Danger: 5 Kraftwerk (Best Odds: $5.00) ran over 1350m at Doomben a couple of weeks back and tried hard when fifth to Lucky Black, who franked the form by narrowly losing to Sir Moments last weekend. Form reads very well and is well weighted after the claim.
Roughie: 8 Beaudragon (Best Odds: $21.00) resumed at Ipswich and just had the charmed run behind the tempo before getting clear and sprinting quickly to win well. Won’t get it as easy here, but he should measure up for sure.
