Race 1. (12:38) Sky Racing Hcp 1400m
1 Can’t Recall One (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a nice type for Stuart Kendrick. This guy debuted two weeks ago here over 1300m where he gave them a start and a beating, sitting back in the run before angling wider and he made a mess of them late, drawing clear for a dominant win at start one. Natural improvement, up to 1400m, he’s clearly the one to beat IMO.
3 Mr Crowning Moment (Bet Now: $SP.00) can be an improver. Kris Lees trained juvenile that debuted over 1110m at Doomben where he got back to near last from the wide gate and did make up ground but was never really a factor behind All Inclusive. Like him up to 1400m, bigger track, firmer deck, he’ll be around the mark.
2 Dance For Me Randy (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes to town but I think he has talent. It was just a win over 1000m at Townsville, but it was a dominant win from on speed and he overcame difficulties. He is bred to be solid enough at 1400m and this race isn’t strong re depth. He appeals as a knockout chance.
Race 2. (13:13) Raw Metal Corp Hcp (C1) 1200m
5 Deferential (Bet Now: $SP.00) rates highly for me. James Healy trained gelding that has been strong in two runs for the stable, winning the maiden impressively two back at the Sunny Coast before going here where he was there to win but couldn’t quite see it through when a narrow second to Evocator. That was in a strong 70. Back to a Class 1, he is clearly the one to beat IMO.
13 Grand Meteor (Bet Now: $SP.00) has done little wrong in three career outings for Tony Gollan. This girl attempted to lead throughout over 1400m here a fortnight back, giving a very strong kick from the front but couldn’t quite see it through when third to a very nice horse, Sharp Dazzler. Back to this trip, she takes beating.
4 Bonded Affair (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one of the key chances for Stuart Kendrick. This guy resumed over 1110m at Doomben last Wednesday when attempting to lead throughout and he gave a decent enough kick but couldn’t quite see it through when third to Press Link. Better for the run under the belt and perhaps with a bunny to chase, he’ll be more effective.
Race 3. (13:48) Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation (Bm70) 1400m
5 Naval Trader (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks suited here for O’Dea/Hoysted. He ran two weeks ago over 1400m here where he got into a decent spot from the inside gate I thought and was there to win. Just lacked the change up speed to put them away late but he stayed on and was close up in defeat behind Winstom Smurfhill/Hellavadancer, so third up, hard fit, he appeals.
9 Damo Dayz (Bet Now: $SP.00) returns to Eagle Farm where he is 2/2. Tony Gollan trained gelding that has had a couple of runs at Doomben where he has either found wet ground or has been stuck wide, doing work. He maps to get a good run in transit, he’ll have no issue with 1400m and returning to Eagle Farm…only runs well.
Fitter and on the bigger track, 3 Tip of The Spear (Bet Now: $SP.00) can be an improver at odds for Matty Dunn. This guy resumed over 1350m at Doomben where he got caught wide no cover and tried hard but the tough run told late in the piece behind iverson. He’ll take god improvement off that and his best is more than good enough to take this out.
Race 4. (14:23) Senq 693Am (Bm78) 2400m
4 Clyde (Bet Now: $SP.00) is capable. Just not sure they know how to ride him. They have tried riding him with a sit and has run well. He ran a fortnight back here where they led, showed intent, and he got very keen in front and then when restraining for a sit. He actually did a really good job to stick on like he did behind Disputed River. With better manners, he’s dangerous.
5 Disputed River (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been an absolute find in recent times for Stuart Kendrick. He has won three on the bounce, the latest being two weeks ago over 2200m here where he gave them a start and a beating, launching late from the back and rounded them up to win and win well. No reason why he can’t continue his winning ways.
7 Boston Of Tuffy (Bet Now: $SP.00) has done his recent racing on the Poly tracks, whether it be the Gold Coast or the Sunny Coast. Latest run was on Sunday where he was tardy away and spotted them a start but was solid late in the piece. Like him up to 2400m and from the inside gate, should do no work and be strong late. First four contender.
Race 5. (14:58) Moree Desperates Hcp (C6) 1400m
6 He’s Heaven (Bet Now: $SP.00) has returned in super order and is one of the key chances. He resumed with a bang when winning over 1350m at Doomben, sitting just off the speed before angling into clear air and he made a mess of them late for an impressive win. Good improvement/upside to come, he rates highly.
5 Brentwood (Bet Now: $SP.00) has done little wrong this time in for Tony Gollan and rates as one of the leading contenders. He is three weeks between runs since racing at Doomben when on speed and he tried his guts out but couldn’t quite get there and had to settle for a second to Boom Torque. 1400m is a slight query but I do think with an economical run in transit, he’ll be okay and is hard to beat.
2 Solar Apex (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been solid in two runs back for Jack Bruce. Just missed out on the win fresh at Doomben behind Hollywood North before going to the Sunny Coast where they rode him a touch warm and it just didn’t quite work out but he was good in defeat. Dangerous with a more conservative steer.
Race 6. (15:33) Airtouch Hcp 1500m
4 Transatlantic (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be given another look. The market wanted him with confidence when resuming over 1400m here two weeks back. He just got too far back in the run in a race suited to those on speed so be very forgiving of the effort behind Miliarense. Fitter, up in trip, I think he’s dangerous with a more positive ride.
2 Sharp Dazzler (Bet Now: $SP.00) is clearly one of the hardest to beat. Team Sears trains this three year old, who was 1600m to 1400m when bolting up here two weeks ago, sitting wide throughout but he had plenty on them and duly saluted quite comfortably. Back up in trip and really, he only has to hold his form and he wins again. But, there is that query he’s been up a whole and last run was a tough one.
5 Pinkus (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Shalaa for Stuart Kendrick that is heading in the right direction and I think is suited up to 1500m. Maiden win came last Wednesday over 1350m at Doomben where he led throughout, giving nothing else a look in and was quite dominant in the run to the line. Extra trip should be fine and has upside/improvement compared to most.
Race 7. (16:08) Ac Select (Bm68) 1800m
7 Gulf Of Tomini (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks really well placed here by Kristen Buchanan and rates highly. He has been excellent in two runs back from a spell, resuming with an eye catching finale at Tuncurry before going to Muswellbrook where he got back and launched late when second to Rothrock. Hard fit and up to 1800m, he’ll take beating.
10 Jetpack Verdi (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Verdi for Tony Gollan that resumes. This guy had one run when last in work, which was a pretty plain effort in a weak race at Beaudesert so I find it very interesting he resumes at 1800m in town but he does have the ability and has trialled well enough to my eye. Watch the market.
9 Bella Tivaci (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be suited up in trip for Brian Smith. This mare was 1800m back to the mile two weeks back here when near the speed throughout and she tried hard but just lacked the change up speed to go with them late in the piece behind Thesecondatportsea. Back up in trip, she is an improver at a likely decent price.
Race 8. (16:47) Fujitsu Airstage Hcp 1200m
5 Tellez (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks really well placed against this lot. Chris Waller trained three year old that comes to Brisbane after racing in Sydney here he didn’t quite measure up in town but for the most part, he ran really well in tidy races. Back to this level, he’ll be strong late and brings solid form lines.
2 Press Link… (Bet Now: $SP.00) just how good is he? 2/2 to start his career, with a spell in between. Backed with confidence when resuming over 1110m at Doomben where he got into a reasonable spot just off the speed and he was trucking a fair way out, angling clear and making a mess of them late. Fitter and up in trip, he appeals.
8 Vindicta (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Jack Bruce since racing over 1110m at Doomben where he got back to near last in the run and made up some headway but was never really threatening behind Defiant Spirit. Like him back up to 1200m and with a more positive ride, he’s good enough to take this out.
Race 9. (17:27) Swysh Hcp 1200m
4 Ranch Hand (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks like he is enjoying life with Tony Gollan and fitter, on the bigger track, he’ll take beating. First run for Gollan came three weeks ago at Doomben when racing over 1200m, getting back off the speed and finding the line well enough in defeat behind subsequent winner Legal Esprit. Fitter and on the bigger track, he’s dangerous.
7 Northern Express (Bet Now: $SP.00) can keep winning. Michael Nolan trained gelding that is flying this time in, winning two on the bounce. Resumed with a win over 1000m at the Sunny Coast before a strong win from off the speed several weeks ago at Doomben. Can only see upside/improvement to come and in a similar race, he’s the one to beat.
5 Roman Aureus (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 1200m at Eagle Farm where he got back in the run off the speed and did make up headway but he was never really threatening behind subsequent winner Legal Esprit. Kind map in his corner…doubt he wins but a first four threat.
Race 10. (18:08) Ladbrokes Communities (Bm78) 1600m
10 Kokonotsu (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top in the get out. Tony Gollan trained gelding that resumed over 1350m at Doomben where he got back off the speed, got wide, copped a check and just couldn’t finish his race off but I want to be forgiving. Fitter and up to the mile, bigger track, more kind map, he has the engine under the hood to do a number on these. Keen.
2 Tuhinga (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a slight query at a strong 1600m but gee it’s hard to knock the way he’s racing. He won three weeks back over the mile at Doomben, getting a rail hugging ride from Cartwright and in a driving finish, he was too good, just. Hard to knock the way he’s going and commands respect.
6 Siren Rock (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip and is a knockout hope. He’s now with James Healy after formerly being with O’Dea/Hoysted. He ran over 1350m two weeks back at Doomben when back near last in the run and did make up ground but was never really a factor behind Hellavadancer/Winston Smurfhill. Like him up in trip…doubt he wins, but he can run top four.
