Nine races will be run and won at Ascot this Saturday, headlined by the Gold Rush (1400m). Weather is fine, track is good (4) and the rail is out four metres for the entire circuit.

Happy to give another chance to 4 Stormchaser (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for Luke Fernie. He produced a brilliant finale to win first up at Bunbury before racing here two weeks ago in the Lee Steere where he seemingly had every chance behind Investmentstrategy but he was 1000m to 1400m so I think now he’s had the 1400m run under the belt, it should hold him in good stead.

1 Blue Lagoon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Susan Olive trained three year old that is three weeks between runs since contesting the WA Guineas where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, i liked the way he finished his race off when fourth to Zipaway, who of course ran so well in the Northerly last week, so that form is clearly A1 and back to 1400m from a good gate, he rates highly.

7 Brave Strike (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improver for sure. Simon Miller trained filly that ran in the Lee Steere two weeks back where she got back in the run and made up some headway without threatening behind Investmentstrategy. If she can somehow settle closer in the run, I think she’s going well enough to be dangerous.

2 San Fabrizio (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has returned in super order for Stephen Miller. Both runs back from a spell have come over 1400m, the latest being two weeks ago here where he got back to near last in the run and spotted those in front too much head start but loved the way he closed off behind Eye Pee Cee. He’ll love the rise in trip and he can settle much closer in the run.

3 Eee Pee Cee (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has always shown promise for Neville Parnham and off an electric win first up, I think he has to be rated highly. That first up win came over 1400m here two weeks ago where he gave them a start and a beating, letting down with a brilliant finale to score. You can only assume he’ll take good improvement off that and up to 1500m, he is one of the hardest to beat.

1 Material Witness (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give cheek. He attempted to lead throughout in the Belmont race mentioned above that Manhattan Strip contested, won by Cable Guy. He led and gave a tremendous sight in front but couldn’t quite see it through, run down late. Not sure I could back him to win but a must for exotics.

10 Megami (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hit and miss at times but when she is on, she is talented. She ran over 1800m here two weeks back and was good late behind Desennea after getting back in the run. I reckon she has eyes on the La Trice but she will be strong at the end here.

1 Big Bada Boom (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should prove hard to beat here for Roy Rogers. This guy resumed over 1200m here two weeks ago in what looked more or less a prep run but I thought his effort in defeat behind Saloon Bar where he was back in the run and closed off his race really well in defeat. Like him up in trip, he’ll press forward you’d assume and gets D Oliver to steer.

7 Let’sdeal (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a knockout chance at odds. Steve Wolfe trained gelding that resumed over 1500m here two weeks back where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he wasn’t too bad in defeat behind Yonga Lass. Might need this and then a rise to 2000m third up but off the resumption, I think he’s in with a shout.

7 Super Smink… (Bet Now:  $SP.00) it’s been well documented what is going on re Gold Rush and you hope she can get a start there. If not, she wins this. Star filly that tried her guts out in the WA Guineas three weeks ago but on the line was safely held by Zipaway, who of course ran an absolute blinder in the Northerly last Saturday. Back to 1600m at this level is a big tick and is clearly the one to beat provided there is petrol left in the tank.

2 Rusty Dreams (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks ready to rock and roll for Michael Lane. She ran a fortnight back in the Jungle Dawn and was very good from off the speed when a closing second to Baby Paris, clocking good late splits. Like her up to the mile and is one of the leading contenders.

5 Yonga Lass (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be rated as one of the hardest to beat. Her win here two weeks ago has to be seen to be believed. She looked no chance on the turn but somehow after getting widest, she let down with an unbelievable finale to score. 1600m should be no issue and if she can use the inside gate to advantage, she’ll take beating.

2 Captain Pluto (Bet Now:  $SP.00). barring bad luck, looks the winner. Team Williams trains this former Victorian and I think you can make a case to say he should be 2/2. I think you can make a case to say that with a half positive ride, he should have comfortably won the Granstand Cup last time at Pinjarra. He’s flying this horse and despite drawing tricky, I think he is clearly the one to beat and one of the better bets on the program.

12 Secret Attraction (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. She ran last Wednesday over the mile at Belmont where she was hard in the market and I thought she was pretty good in defeat from near last on the turn, making up decent headway behind Cable Guy. if she can be within range on the turn, she has the finale to be dangerous.

8 Ace Command (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. This gelding ran last Saturday over the mile here and while he was safely held by Starry Heights, I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat, beaten just under three lengths. That horse would be $1.50 against these so the form reads pretty well and up in trip, back miles in depth, a win wouldn’t totally shock.

9 Laquetta’s Gift (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top but not really a race I am enthused about. Dion Luciani trained mare that comes back to 1400 after racing over 1500m here two weeks ago when on speed throughout and giving a tremendous sight but the end of 1500m at this level just found her out and she felt the pinch late behind Yonga Lass. Back in trip, jockey upgrade, she rates highly.

11 Gift Of The Heart (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Roy Rogers trained gelding that comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since Sep 16 when attempting to lead throughout over 1400m at Belmont but found one better in Mama Tembu. Fresh legs at 1400m in town signals clear intent from the stable and with his racing pattern, he’ll give himself every chance.

3 Ciscojoe (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Bernie Miller trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since June 3 at Belmont when running fourth at Belmont over 2200m, somewhat of an end of prep run. He is a horse who can pull out a decent run fresh, trialled up well leading in and will be strong late. One for multiples.

7 Devine Belief (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should take a power of beating here for David Harrison. This mare was backed with confidence when resuming two weeks ago over 1000m here and under a confident on speed steer from Azzopardi, she made a mess of them and was quite dominant in a sharp return. Extra 100m no issue, lands on speed again and gets Oliver. Looks the winner.

9 Rear Admiral (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a handy galloper for Team Casey and third up from a spell, he should just about be at her peak. She ran three weeks ago here and seemingly had her chance despite a tricky gate and doing a bit of early work behind Playthatfunkymusic. Craig Williams takes over, he’ll be positive on her and she’ll only run well.

8 Hardly Ever (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a daughter of Nicconi that resumes for Simon Miller. This mare is first up, having not raced since July 15 at Belmont when back in the run and making up minimal headway in the straight behind Sunny Honey. She has been given a good break in readiness for her return and with two trials under the belt, the intent is there I feel so watch the market.

Fitter and up to 1400m are two big ticks for 13 Upper Limits (Bet Now:  $SP.00), who resumed over 1200m here a fortnight back. He didn’t get the clearest of paths in the straight to let down, which worked against him in the end because he does look a horse that wants time to wind into his work, so if that can eventuate here, I am sure he’ll be around the mark.

9 Brooklyn Pier (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an absolute beauty for Neville Parnham. Three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance where he tried his guts out from on speed but just didn’t have the finale to hold off Starry Heights. Good racing style, hard fit, in form, he’ll give himself every chance and is a must for multiples.

8 Street Parade (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win. Russell Stewart trains this four year old, who has been runner up his past three, the latest being a fortnight back when on speed and giving a tremendous sight but couldn’t quite finish the job when second to Saloon Bar. Lacks the brilliance of some of these but should be strong late.

An impossible race to sort out with confidence. 7 Comfort Me (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the way I am leaning. I thought he was brave in the Railway behind Bustler given he was wide no cover on speed, doing all the work, and only felt the pinch late in the piece. Maps to get a more economical run in transit and back to 1400m looks ideal.

16 Ripcord (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be given respect here for Luke Fernie. I wasn’t a believer of him after the Placid Ark but I am after the Winterbottom. He was very good from the back, closing off with purpose behind Overpass. Off that, 1400m is no issue and for mine he’s one of the hardest to beat.

5 Red Can Man (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in with a shout. He was one of the eye catchers from the Winterbottom, getting a mile out of his ground but loved the way he found the line late behind Overpass. He is a two time track/distance winner and maps to settle much closer. Dangerous.

BEST BET: Race Five Number 2 Captain Pluto

NEXT BEST: Race Seven Number 7 Devine Belief

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 7 Comfort Me
