Morphettville will play host to a nine race card on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is out eleven metres from the 1200m-Winning Post; Out eight metres for the remainder.

Race 1. (12:52) Spring Racing Carnival At Morphettville 1100m
3 Duchess Of Sussex (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was bursting to win a race and she was racing well without getting there, but that changed two weeks ago over over 1050m here, getting wide no cover but was trucking and had the 1200m lead up, so she’d be strong late and that was the case. If there is petrol in the tank, she takes beating.
2 Gold Spirit (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Grant Kluske trained son of Turffontein that comes to town off the back of a debut win at Murray Bridge when near the speed throughout and moved really well before being clicked up and he showed nice change up speed to win well. Harder here, but think he can measure up.
8 Pride Of Jumeirah (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is four weeks between runs for Phillip Stokes since racing on bog ground at Morphettville Parks when near the speed and doing work to stay there. She tried hard, was honest, but just couldn’t quite finish off on the testing ground, settling for fourth. Not sure she wins, but can entertain her for exotics.
Race 2. (13:27) Fleurieu Milk Company (Bm80) 2500m
4 Eureka’s Victory (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will take beating here for Nicole Irwin. This gelding was a track/distance winner from two weeks ago where he was near the speed throughout and looked to be moving with purpose before being clicked up and he got better as the race went on to win quite impressively. Hard to beat once again I feel.
3 Dixie Whistler (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a ripping mare for the Richards/Moyle camp and appeals as one of the key prospects. She had a suck run on the fence a fortnight back and got out in time to threaten but just didn’t have the staying prowess to go with Eureka’s Victory. Genuine animal and will be around the mark once again.
2 Smiling Assassin (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is eight years of age but he’s racing in just about career best form at the moment. He is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday on the Parks track. He tried hard from off the speed but he was never really threatening I thought in defeat when second to Call Me Vexatious. Good track/distance record and I do think up to 2500m on the bigger track, he runs a much improved race.
Race 3. (14:05) Sportsbet Same Race Multi Hcp (C2) 1050m
8 Cararada (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a John Hyam trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since June 8 on the Parks track when getting a sweet sit in transit and presented to win but couldn’t quite finish the job behind Master Montaro. Has a good record here, can sprint well fresh…watch the market.
7 Mine All Mine (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was knocking on the door to break the maiden tag for John Macmillan and that maiden win came last time over 1050m at Balaklava. He had a suck run in transit just off the speed before waiting for clear air, he got it and away he went for a dominant win. His confidence is up, he can go on with it.
2 Magic Field (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is four weeks between runs for Andrew Clarken since racing over 1000m on the Parks track. He struggled on the wet ground and couldn’t pick his feet up late in the piece behind impressive winner Winning Revolution. Back on firmer footing, fresh legs, he’s dangerous.
Race 4. (14:42) Dennis Underwood (Rs1ly) 1200m
8 Cold Case (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a big improver here I say. Team Jolly trained gelding that resumed two weeks ago over 1100m here. He got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up some headway and was a pass mark in defeat. Previous second up winner, fitter and up to 1200m, he only runs well.
10 Bubble Over (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) isn’t far off a win IMO for John Macmillan. She was big odds a fortnight back over 1100m here and worked to the line with real purpose in a pretty good effort behind impressive winner Sir Sway. Good track/distance record and has found positive form.
12 Annie’s Rose (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been hit and miss throughout her five start career but she looks to have returned really well based on her win two weeks back here when first up. She was wide throughout with before angling clear and she let down with good change up speed to win and win well. Keen to see how she goes against these.
Race 5. (15:17) The Fotobase Group Hcp (62) 1536m
12 Silent Emmy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top for me in what looks a winnable race. She debuted over the mile at Strathalbyn in a maiden where she led throughout and credit to her, she was there to be beaten but she found under pressure to win. She is the one with upside, scope and the depth here isn’t overly deep.
8 Burning Bright (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing in consistent form for Andrew Gluyas and is one of the key threats. She ran second a fortnight back at this track/distance when near the speed and fought on quite well in defeat but didn’t have the finale of On The Scent. Knocking on the door to win again and strikes a winnable race.
4 Kushan Khanivale (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has the 1500m run under the belt now, which should hold him in good stead here I feel. He was 1250m to 1500m when racing here two weeks back, doing early work to land on speed and tried hard but just felt the pinch late. Not sure he wins, but a first four threat.
Race 6. (15:52) Thomas Farms (Bm70) 1100m
4 A Samurai Mind (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a very promising animal that can use this as a springboard towards blacktype. He hasn’t raced since July 27 when wide no cover throughout but he was absolutely trucking in the run and once clicked up, away he went and he was dominant. Tick over trial was good and really, he could just be better than these, by some distance.
5 Crimson Vine (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Matty Seyers trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since the Summer/Autumn where she was one of the real finds as a stayer, so while 1500m is on the short side for her, she has trialled up well and 1500m fresh does tell me there is a decent amount of fitness under the belt.
8 Dual Fuel (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a talented mare that is first up for Peter Hardacre. This girl is first up, with her last run coming on March 16 over 2250m at Morphettville Parks when off the speed and kept finding the line in a pretty good effort behind Master Of Zerprise. He can sprint well fresh and will be strong late.
Race 7. (16:32) Sportsbet Fast Form Hcp (68) 1100m
8 Mighty Sapphire (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the way I am leaning. Bain/Taylor trained gelding that is second up after resuming two weeks ago at this track/distance where he got back, wide with cover, and while he was never really a winning threat, I thought he found the line well enough behind Sir Sway. Fitter, can settle much closer, hard to beat.
5 Deepfloat Diva (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Team Jolly after a strong win last Saturday on the Parks track, giving them a start and a beating, letting down with purpose to win and win well. That followed a plain return so if indeed she is back on track, she takes a power of beating again.
10 All About Eve (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with Andrew Noblet, she is having her first run for Clarken/O’Shea. This girl is first up and while she has a tricky draw and no official trial/jumpout, she has the engine under the hood to be dangerous, so I say watch the market and see what it does.
Race 8. (17:07) W H Wylie Hcp 1100m
3 Press Down (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a fascinating watch. Peter Hardacre trained gelding that comes here off a break, his latest run being in the Santa Ana Lane Final at Flemington on July 6 when down the track behind It’sourtime. Trialled well enough behind Sghirripa at Murray Bridge and his best is more than good enough.
1 Sghirripa (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks ready to rock and roll. Team Oxlade trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since The Goodwood where he got back to near last in the run and was never a factor but did make up ground in a good effort behind Benedetta. He is a good fresh horse and gee his trial last week at Murray Bridge when leading throughout…it was outstanding. Keen to see how he goes.
2 Master Eight (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) creates interest. Former Hong Kong galloper that had one run during the Adelaide Carnival in the latter part of the Autumn when leading and fading badly to run last in the John Hawkes. Been given a good break and with a strong trial win under the belt, keen to see how he goes. One for exotics I dare say.
Race 9. (17:44) Pfd Food Services Hcp (64) 1800m
9 Exopipi (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one of the key threats. Track/distance run two weeks ago had merit to it I feel, trying to make a sustained run from before the turn and kept whacking away but she couldn’t quite see it through when fourth. Has that 1800m run under the belt and hard to beat if she can settle closer.
13 Raw Grunt (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should love the rise to 1800m for the Richards/Moyle camp. This guy has been solid in two runs back from a spell, first up resuming with a win at Balaklava before going to 1500m here a fortnight back and was good late from the back behind impressive winner On The Scent. Hard fit now and up to 1800m, he takes beating against these.
6 Sir Randolph (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing well without winning. I just think he is crying out for a dry deck. Wet ground has plagued him in recent times, but he hasn’t been racing too bad, the latest run being behind Chambers Bay a few weeks back when seemingly getting every chance. He can win this for sure with firmer footing on the cards.
