14/5/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Flemington, Andrew Ramsden Stakes day

Nine races have been set down for Flemington this Saturday. The weather forecast is for showers, the track is good (4) and the rail is out two metres for the entire circuit.

6 Doull (Bet Now: $2.50 TOP ODDS) is on top in an even race for the juveniles. Team Freedman colt that is on debut off the back of a couple of jumpouts, the latest being at Werribee when wide on speed but seemingly trucking and won with something in hand in a good piece of work. Happy to be in his corner, but not chips in with confidence.

8 Magnaspin (Bet Now: $8.50 TOP ODDS) is a Team Corstens colt that is having start one. He looked to move well on speed in his latest jumpout, which came at Werribee and through the line, he was in front of the field. Stable finds C Williams for start one, he’s here to run well I suggest.

11 Impel (Bet Now: $13.00 TOP ODDS) is one for exotics. Resumed at Cranbourne where she got back in the run and made up some ground in a solid effort without threatening when third. Gate one, so gets good cover and with race fitness/experience, she’s in with a shout.

5 No Way Ever (Bet Now: $4.80 TOP ODDS) has come back in super order for the Maher/Eustace. Dominant first up win at Sandown before going to Caulfield when wide throughout and battled away really well in defeat behind Najmaty. She’ll get a good drag into the race and with change up speed, she’ll launch late.

3 Commands The Field (Bet Now: $4.60 TOP ODDS) looks extremely well suited back to her own age/sex. Ran over 1300m at Sandown last start against the Mares and worked home with real purpose, just dying on the run late when a close up third to Agreeable. Back to 1100m I think is a positive and she’ll be strong at the end.

8 Lady Adelaide (Bet Now: $10.00 TOP ODDS) is a Patrick Payne trained filly that resumnes. This girl hasn’t raced since December at The Valley when down the track and lookijng a tired horse behind Danny’s St Darci. Liked a recent trial from her and down in the weights, she appeals.

5 Sonora (Bet Now: $8.00 TOP ODDS) on top, quite clearly. She ran in the Carlisle race from two weeks ago at Sandown and in a race dominated on speed by that horse, I thought the effort of Sonora to finish off and take ground away from the front few was a run full of merit. She’ll eat up 1700m at Flemington and is one of the hardest to beat.

2 Carlisle (Bet Now: $6.00 TOP ODDS) is in a purple patch for John Moloney. Dominant winner two back at Pakenham before repeating the dose at Sandown when leading throughout, helped by a peach front running steer from McDougall, who got complete control in front and gave nothing else a look in. Harder here, but she’ll run well again.

7 Flash Feeling (Bet Now: $7.00 TOP ODDS) can be an improver. Luckless two back at Caulfield where he probably should have won with clear air. Then went to the Carlisle race at Sandown and just had no hope the way the race was run. Hopefully a more genuine tempo here, and I think he’ll love Flemington.

2 Butter Chicken (Bet Now: $8.00 TOP ODDS) is better suited over a touch further but I do think she has a bit on these re class. It was a forgetful Spring prep for her, with her last two runs seeing her pull up lame. Given a good break, should get some sort of juice in the track and her jumpout work has been encouraging.

4 Saigon (Bet Now: $8.50 TOP ODDS) has returned in good order for Chris Waller. Resumed two weeks ago at Sandown and she looked home when Froggy pushed the button but she couldn’t quite finish it off and was nailed late by a talented mare, Agreeable. Is a second up winner and I think she’ll love getting to Flemington.

17 Florent (Bet Now: $26.00 TOP ODDS) looks suited at this level for Tony Noonan. Thrown somewhat in the deep end in the Distaff over 1400m at Caulfield three weeks ago and stuck to the task pretty well in a race not run to suit behind Comica. Back to 78 grade, she can threaten for sure.

4 Kipps (Bet Now: $15.00) could well be a moral here. I’m very keen to see this former UK stayer make his Australian form. The form around is just about top shelf. Two back he bumped into a Group l class animal, Al Aasy, and last start at Chester, he bumped into a high class animal in Japan. Loved his recent Cranbourne jumpout behind Heart Of Puissance and yes, 1600m is short of his best, but he could have panels on them.

14 Hype (Bet Now: $8.50) is a very interesting runner. Former Irish galloper that makes his Australian debut for Team Williams. He showed good promise in Ireland, winning two of four, albeit in not overly strong races, but in the last 6-12 months, more often than not, these Lloyd Williams imports rarely misfire, so watch the market.

10 Beaufort Park (Bet Now: $26.00) is bursting to win one for Saab Hassan. He ran two weeks back in the Anniversary Vase at Sandown where I thought he goes close to winning with a half decent steer. Kersley elected to stay nearer the inside, which was quicksand for the meeting, so the horse did a very good job to get as close as he did to Regardsmaree. He can win for sure.

9 Arran Bay (Bet Now: $3.70) has come back in super order and has to be respected here. Resumed over 1300m at Sandown where he lumped the big weight and really, if he runs straight, he wins instead of a narrow second to Ceasar. Like him up to 1400m and with good weight relief, he’ll take beating.

6 Star Of Chaos (Bet Now: $8.00) looks a clear second pick. She sat near the speed in the Nitschke two weeks ago and tried hard, but she was just simply no match for Illation, who was different gravy on the day and is Group l quality. Sits on speed and will try hard, runs well…last bit may test.

Fitter and up to 1400m are two big ticks for 8 Jimmy The Bear (Bet Now: $21.00). Patrick Payne trained three year old that resumed in the VOBIS Dash where the 1100m, the scamper, it was an ordinary set up behind Midwest. Tick over trial at Traralgon was nice and up in trip, an improved showing is on the cards.

I’m quite keen on 2 Luncies (Bet Now: $5.00) running well here. He hasn’t raced since the Sydney Cup where he had no chance given the race shape, with the eventual winner Knight’s Order getting complete control in front and giving nothing else a look in, including Luncies. Stable gets Craig Williams, he has class and should be strong late. Great each way bet.

11 Splendiferous (Bet Now: $3.90) has to be respected. Didn’t beat much last Saturday in the Port Adelaide Cup but gee she was dominant from on speed, producing the best last 600/400/200 of the race. Off that, she’ll eat up 2800m here and is a mare that is in form with a sense of timing.

6 English King (Bet Now: $19.00) looks like he will be fine at 2800m and does bring upside compared to most engaged. He ran on Anzac Day here and loomed to win after sitting off the pace, but was no match for a quality animal in Steel Prince, who went within a lip of winning this race a few years ago. Stable is flying, he has to be respected.

3 Morvada (Bet Now: $6.00) is the straight bat option here. He’s a beauty for Peter Jolly that puts himself on speed and is just so damn genuine, as seen when winning two weeks ago in the City Of Adelaide Handicap on the Parks track at Morphettville. Should jump to the front here and with Linda to steer, this galloper will give one mighty sight.

17 Triple Missile (Bet Now: $3.20) is a query at 1400m, but he is the X Factor. Looked like the winner of the Wangoom when resuming last Wednesday at Warrnambool but first up on a bottomless, his condition just gave way. Fitter, firmer footing, enormous upside…hopefully gets a soft trip so he can see out the 1400m, because he can be quite explosive.

6 Superium (Bet Now: $12.00) is flying for Team Hawkes but he can’t quite crack it for a win. Ran two weeks ago in the Victoria Handicap and again worked to the line pretty well and was close up behind Ayrton in a good effort, but that is the story of his life. Hard to catch, but the big track and genuine tempo should give him every chance.

13 Winsum (Bet Now: $7.50) for me in the get out. Team Keys trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since Jan 22 at The Valley over 955m where he was too bad to be true behind Yulong Command and the vet confirmed it post race, with the horse being lame in both front legs. Been given a good spell and has trialled up super in readiness for his return. Should park off the speed and get his chance to launch.

11 Whipcracker Way… (Bet Now: $6.00) is he back? Jury was out after a plain run fresh at Terang but his effort at Sandown two week ago was much better, closing off hard late to run second to speed demon Starry Legend. Repeats that effort here and you’d like think he will go close.

5 Fine Dane (Bet Now: $21.00) will put himself on speed and give his all. That’s what he did two weeks back at Sandown when chasing Starry Legend and he tried his guts out. Just couldn’t get there, eventually finishing third. Last bit will test, but he’s genuine, honest, and a must for exotics.

BEST BET: Race Eight Number 3 Morvada

NEXT BEST: Race One Number 6 Doull

LONG SHOT: Race Five Number 4 Kipps
