Seven races will be run and won at the Sunny Coast this Friday night. The weather is fine, the track is heavy (9) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (18:50) Skyrise Scaffolding Mdn Plate 1000m
13 On Point Pixie (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the way I am leaning but not a whole lot of confidence here in the opener. Daughter of Heroic Valour that is on debut for Paul Shailer and it’s interesting that the stable took out a more fancied stablemate in preference for this girl to be the sole rep, and her recent trial win at the Gold Coast was quite good. Keen to see how he goes.
4 Silver Spoon (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a King’s Legacy colt on debut for Kelly Schweida. This guy has had two trials, one in the Spring, and one recently, to prepare for start one. He won the trial in the Spring before being spelled. He had a trial at Doomben on Feb 11 and moved well enough I thought. Strikes a winnable race so he commands respect.
8 Dragonne Rouge (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Daughter of Dracarys on debut for Shaun Dwyer off the back of a trial here last Tuesday where she placed and seemingly moved well to my eye. Draw is tricky but has home track advantage and is a market watch for sure.
Race 2. (19:25) 24/7 Access Mdn Plate 1200m
6 Teeig (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top for me. Matty Hoysted trained gelding that is on debut off the back of a recent trial at Doomben where he ran second and seemingly moved well in a good performance. Maps to do no work in transit and is bred to handle wet ground. Like him against these.
7 French Riviera (Bet Now: $SP.00), I think, is fine at 1200m after resuming over 1000m here. She got into a decent spot near the speed and tried hard but first up, condition just gave way late in the piece. Maps ideally, fitter and up to 1200m, she’s right in the mix.
3 Aikau (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Yes Yes Yes that is resuming for Lee Freedman. He is first up, having not raced since Sep 26 at Doomben when racing over the mile and just looked a bit on the plain side late in the piece. Trial at the Gold Coast was good and I think maybe trained as a 1200m-1400m horse, he can threaten.
Race 3. (19:55) Ocean Views Resort Mdn Hcp 1600m
I think you have to take a chance on 13 Kiss The Cosmos (Bet Now: $SP.00), a Savabeel filly for Chris Waller that is on debut. She had two jumpouts at Flemington in the Spring and to my eye, moved very well for a filly that is bred to appreciate further. First up at 1600m, to me, signals intent, she maps ideally and suspect she’ll be quite strong late.
2 Warna (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key threat. Thought he did more than enough on debut here before going to Rocky when ridden with more intent and tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job. The gate is tricky so I think ridden with a sit, a drag into the race, he’ll be a threat for sure.
17 Napa Valley (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate getting to the mile after racing over 1400m here last time. He got a fair way back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and was solid late in the piece. If he can settle closer, he can win.
Race 4. (20:25) Haymes (Bm62) 1600m
1 Singer Sargent (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to have returned really well for John Moore and should appreciate getting to 1600m after resuming over 1400m here where he got a fair way back off the speed but I really liked the way he closed his race off in defeat behind This’llbetheone. Fitter and up in trip, he’ll take beating.
6 Hooks (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form again and he can certainly go on with it. He got front end control at this track/distance two weeks ago and that was the difference, getting that cheap furlong or two in front and found under pressure to fend them off and win. He’ll give a good sight.
11 Hussy Empress (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a knockout hope. Paul Butterworth trained mare that ran over the mile at Doomben last time where she got a fair way off the speed and while she was never a winning threat, she did make up ground and was pretty good in defeat. Dangerous if she can settle closer and be within range.
Race 5. (20:55) Dulux Hcp (C1) 1400m
8 Change The Deel (Bet Now: $SP.00) has a good record on the home track and returning here, he’ll take holding out I suspect. I thought he did a reasonable job at Rocky last time out, getting off speed and made up some headway without threatening behind Phantom Flight. If he can settle closer and be within range, he’ll take holding out.
1 Rich Again (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with Team Munce, he now finds himself with Chris Waller. He hasn’t raced since Aug 28 over the mile here when leading and just feeling the pinch late in the piece. Resumes without a public trial/jumpout but looks to have a touch of quality.
3 Mr Caleb (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Did enough fresh at Doomben behind Surprise Honey before going to this track/distance when perhaps producing second up syndrome in a flat performance. Hard fit now, his best is good enough.
Race 6. (21:30) Whatever It Takes (Bm68) 1000m
10 Great Barrier Reef (Bet Now: $SP.00) to resume a winner for Matty Hoysted. He is first up, having not raced since Nov 9 at Doomben when off the speed and worked home well enough late in the piece The Astronomer. Not a noted fresh horse but a recent trial was pretty good and will be strong late.
13 Platinum Lies (Bet Now: $SP.00) loves racing on her home track here so for mine, she rates highly. She hasn’t raced since Feb 15 at the Gold Coast when leading and giving a strong sight but just felt the pinch late when second to Greyzous. Good set up here, she appeals.
6 Zingalong (Bet Now: $SP.00) does love racing on the home deck and at 1000m so he’s a knockout hope. Latest run was Feb 15 at Eagle Farm when outclassed and ran accordingly when down the track behind Caspernova. No horse of that quality here and back to 1000m, he’s in the mix.
Race 7. (22:10) Higgins Coatings Plate (C3) 1800m
6 Divakara (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a good thing to close out the meeting. Stuart Kendrick trained three year old that ran over 1400m here last time when off a setback. He got off the speed and was chasing but picked up and was quite good late in the piece when second to Tavis Town. Fitter and up in trip, he takes beating.
10 Sacred Bull (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. That win came over this trip at the Gold Coast where he gave them a start and a beating, getting better as the race went on to win well. His confidence is up, he appeals.
3 Maxie Tap (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate getting to a bigger track. His recent runs have come on smaller, tighter tracks, and I just don’t think he has been appreciating them. He has home track advantage here and the stable is in solid enough form. One for exotics.
