14/2/2025 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Moonee Valley

2 Mi Rock Aly (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a beauty for Matty Williams and commands respect against these. She was six weeks between runs when racing over 2400m at Sandown, attempting to lead throughout and giving a solid kick but couldn’t quite get there when second to Pure Grunt. Good racing style, she appeals.

3 Genrichero (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for Matt Laurie and commands respect. He comes into this off the back of a 2400m win at Sandown in a solid 64 where he had the suck run in transit and finished best. Has run here previously so he’s hard to beat.

4 Star Testymony (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a knockout hope for Symon Wilde off the back of a win in a moderate 58 at Geelong where he gave them a start and a beating, letting down nicely late under a cool ride from Lester Grace to score. Harder here, but off a win, I think he’s in with a shout.

The rise to 1500m I love for 11 Miss Alexis (Bet Now:  $SP.00) and she does look like she has talent. She’d want to given she is out of Caulfield Cup winner Jameka and the debut at this track/distance was good. She lacked change up speed but kept finding the line in a strong debut. Fitter and up in trip, she takes a power of beating.

4 Rip N Rip (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is short enough but does have the runs on the board to say he can break the maiden tag. He has been runner up in all four runs this time in, the latest coming over 1500m here when near the speed and seemingly had his chance, but was solid enough in defeat behind McAdam. Positive

10 Izola (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a tricky draw to overcome but I think she has an engine under the hood. Led and tired late when debuting at Seymour before going to Werribee when ridden with a sit and was held up at times but kept finding the line well enough in defeat. If she can overcome the gate, she’ll be around the mark.

10 Scentara (Bet Now:  $SP.00) gets the nod for me. Ciaron Maher trains this Shamus Award filly, that is on debut off the back of three pieces of work this time in to get ready for start one, the latest seeing her win at Horsham last Wednesday in a trial and moved well. Good grounding for her debut, I think she’s hard to beat.

6 Dreams (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to have returned well for Mick Kent. She resumed over 1000m at Pakenham where she just found them a bit sharp but I liked the way she stuck on in defeat when third. Fitter and up in trip, good camp, she is a leading chance.

3 Trouve (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been freshened up since racing at Burrumbeet on New Years Day when just off the speed and seemed to have his chance but just battled late when third. Looked sharp in a jumpout win last week and has a kind map in his corner. Watch the market.

6 Trapeze Warrior (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door for Phillip Stokes and I think he gets his chance here. He ran over this trip at Sandown last time when on speed and fought hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when third to Mighty. I think he leads, on speed at worst, and from there, will take beating.

2 Big Me (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect. Nick Ryan trained gelding that ran over 955m at The Valley last time and I think you can easily make a case to say that with clear air, he wins, but just got badly held up at the wrong stage. Got eventually clear and foudn the line. Good speed in front, room to move, he’ll be hard to hold out.

7 Exuma (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a short course type and will give cheek if this track is playing up/in. He resumed at Werribee when leading throughout and despite getting the staggers late, he had enough in hand to win. Good racing style, upside…knockout hope.

4 Soju (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bursting to win for Simon Zahra. He ran over this track/distance three weeks ago when off speed and kept finding the line in a strong effort in defeat behind Oak Hill. Maps to do no work, get the suck run off the fast speed and get last look. Like him.

1 Dreamzel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Tom Dabernig and is one of the hardest to beat. She has won two on the bounce, the latest being a win over 1000m here when leading throughout and despite being out of petrol tickets late, she had enough in hand to score. Looks the leader and will take running down.

8 Rock Melody (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the quick back after racing last Thursday at Pakenham when off speed and while she was never a winning threat, she did make up ground and was pretty good in defeat. Gets right down in the weights after the claim…not sure she wins, but can run top four.

I have liked the way 4 Navy Heart (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has returned and should prove hard to beat up in trip after resuming over 1400m at Geelong. She got a fair way out of her ground but didn’t mind the way she finished her race off in defeat when fourth to Bonnaroo. Good upside to come, good return, hard to beat.

3 Parch (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will put himself on speed and look to give his all, as seen at this track/distance last start when leading and giving a strong kick but just felt the pinch late in the piece when a close up third to Williamstown. If he gets front end control, he’ll take running down.

2 Hand Me Down (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Zed that resumes for Team McEvoy. He is first up, having not raced since Aug 27 at Seymour when leading and tired badly to finish down the track behind I Could Do Better. Trial win at Geelong was good, good racing style, he can threaten.

4 Lygon Street Luigi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door for Denis Pagan. He ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where he looked the winner when presented clear air but just found one better in Princess Nefertiti. Big jockey upgrade and with a positive ride, takes beating.

5 Expeetee (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key chance for Gerald Egan. She was big odds at this track/distance last time but she gave them a start and a beating to win quite well in a race not much different from this so she only has to hold her form and she’ll be around the mark.

10 Larsen Bay (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a good track/distance record so I wouldn’t dismiss her. Decent effort at Mornington last start when back and keen in the run but kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat I thought behind Black Peppermint. Better racing manners, she’s a knockout hope.

4 Documentary (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be taking care of these, all things being equal. He spanked them over 1000m on debut here three weeks ago, giving them a start and a beating, producing good change up speed. The race has produced three subsequent winners so the form is red hot and strikes a winnable race. Keen.

7 Time Lapse (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the quick back up after winning last Thursday night at Pakenham, leading throughout and gave nothing else a look in to win and win well. Looks the leader and is dangerous if the track is playing towards those on speed.

8 Jenni The Jet (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes to town for Ciaron Maher off the back of a maiden win at Pakenham where she was near the speed throughout and credit to her, she was there to be beaten but she found under pressure to score. Tricky draw, but is a knockout hope.
