Race 1. (13:45) Mainstream Finance Serv.-Bm64 2100m
Back to provincial grade, I am pretty keen on 4 Jack Duggan (Bet Now: $SP.00) in the opener. Contested a solid Midway at Rosehill last time where he did work to find the front and that early burn just told late in the piece. T Clark sticks, he should find the front quite comfortably here and overall, this is a pretty thin. Not sure there is upside, but off prior efforts, he should take beating against his moderate bunch.
3 Kypreos (Bet Now: $SP.00) is suited at this level for John O’Shea. He ran under the lights at Canterbury last start and was okay from the back without threatening behind a very promising animal, Tradition. He has won at 2000m so 2100m should be fine for him and the stable is starting to find some red hot form, and once they do, it is sustained across the entire stable, so he commands respect.
2 Vintage Diesel (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the quick back up after racing here last Thursday. He ran over the mile and was never a factor given how far back he was in the run but I actually thought his finale was more than sound behind Oakfield Warpaint. Proven stayer, I doubt he is good enough to win, but I think he could pinch a first four spot at a decent price.
Race 2. (14:20) Wyong Leagues Group Hcp (C1) 1600m
1 Master Copy (Bet Now: $SP.00) should eat up the mile, he gets J Mac…looks pretty straight forward to my eye and is the best on the program. Loved the way he knuckled down to win the maiden at Kembla Grange last time over 1400m, drawing clear late and got better as the race went on. Ran well over the mile when racing in Ireland and he gets to that trip here. Clearly the one to beat.
2 Portnoy (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. He was kept quite safe in betting when resuming over 1500m at Hawkesbury. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick but condition just gave way late when fourth to Zouson Boy. Josh Parr is very good when riding a front runner and he should be able to get the lead comfortably with this guy. He’ll give a sight I am sure.
9 Thailand (Bet Now: $SP.00) has a good second up record and is a must for multiples. Resumed over 1350m here where she paraded like she would need the run and while that was indeed the case, she actually closed off her race pretty well late in the piece behind Bat Out Of Hell. Might want one more, but the return was encouraging for a mare better suited over further. Definite first four contender.
Race 3. (14:55) G.Coast Yearl. Sale 10-16 Mdn 1350m
2 Mr Wallace (Bet Now: $SP.00) is bursting to win a maiden and he gets his chance here. Ran two weeks ago at Gosford over 1200m where he wobbled a bit on the turn but balanced up in the straight and launched late to just miss out on picking up Smooth Flight. Rise to 1350m looks ideal for him and T Clark sticks. This race is a bit on the thin side so I’d be surprised if he didn’t put them away.
13 Nullify (Bet Now: $SP.00) has had 16 starts to try and break the maiden tag, which says it all really. Has placed on eight occasions, she keeps finding one or two better. Latest run came over 1400m at Kembla and she was there to win but couldn’t quite put them away when third. Blinkers back on for this mare and should run well once again…but backing her to win…you are a brave human being.
5 Our Kinsmen (Bet Now: $SP.00) is dangerous with the rub of the green. He debuted over 1300m at Hawkesbury where he had a suck run in behind and tried to get clear but couldn’t and it was somewhat of an ugly watch if you were on behind Midori Burly. Reckon he would love further than 1350m, but maps to do no work in the run and has more scope/upside than most.
Race 4. (15:30) Magic Millions Wyong Stakes 1200m
8 Shalailed (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be closer to favourite I feel. John O’Shea trained three year old that resumes, having not raced since the Red Anchor on Cox Plate Day when near the speed and battled on really well in defeat when third to Sejardan. Looked sharp in a recent trial and is drawn to get an ideal map near the speed. Think he has the right form around him to prove hard to beat.
7 Hell I Am (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Hellbent for John O’Shea that resumes. He hasn’t raced since September 3 when a strong winner at Randwick and making it three wins from four outings. His confidence is high and loved the way he went in a Canterbury trial win. If he can overcome the sticky gate, he should take a power of beating against this lot. Market will tell you if he’s ready.
There is a tail to this race outside the top two, so third pick for me is 9 Resonator (Bet Now: $SP.00), who resumes for the GaiBott camp. He put together a couple of sharp wins in the Winter before going to the Sires at Eagle Farm where he produced an end of prep run when down the track behind Sheeza Belter. Trials to get ready have been strong to the eye, should roll forward and prove hard to run down fresh for an in form stable.
Race 5. (16:05) Ebh Building Group Midway-Bm64 1100m
10 Deep Opinions (Bet Now: $SP.00) can bounce back. Damien Lane trained filly that was a dead heat winner fresh at Scone before going to Canterbury and she found them a bit sharp behind Edna, who won again last Friday night to frank the form. Has home track advantage and should be forwardly placed. Has the right form around her to give this a shake.
8 Send Me A Legend (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Written Tycoon for Peter Robl that resumes. He hasn’t raced since June 4 at Newcastle on very testing ground and struggled to pick his feet up behind Sonnet Star. Has had a good break and I thought his Hawkesbury trial to get ready for this was a good piece of work. Even race on paper, so watch the market and see what it does with him.
5 The Bullring (Bet Now: $SP.00) will be strong late if they overdo it on speed. He comes back to 1100m after racing over 1200m at Newcastle last time, working home nicely from near last on the turn when beaten just over three lengths by Theo Legion. The big tick for him is that he does have home track advantage and while some of these will be suspect late, he will be strong.
Race 6. (16:40) Magic Millions Wyong 2Yo Classic 1100m
12 Summer Loving (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top in a two horse race. This filly has been freshened up since the Golden Gift when debuting and working home powerfully from near last on the turn when third to Barber. Tick over trial looked to be a very good piece of work and if the inside gate is used to advantage, she should land in the first few and be hard to hold out against this lot, who look a bit on the limited front overall.
4 Mach Ten (Bet Now: $SP.00) has the runs on the board to command respect. He debuted in the Breeders Plate when on speed and he gave a pretty strong kick but was simply no match late for Emperor Of Japan, who probably sits behind King’s Gambit as the best juvenile seen so far this season. Sharp trial win to get ready but I do find it interesting J Mac rides something else rather than this guy. Watch the market.
3 Hachiman (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Brave Smash on debut for the Maher/Eustace camp and you’d think this guy will be ready to go given, I believe, this is the first runner Australian Bloodstock have with a horse by their former star Brave Smash. His trial work has been solid enough, nothing to jump up and down about, but I suspect he will be strong late if they overdo it in front.
Race 7. (17:15) Pbl Law Group Provincial-Bm68 1300m
4 Alpha Go (Bet Now: $SP.00) will do me in the get out. He has been strong in two runs back from a break. Game second fresh at Gundagai during the Snake Gully Carnival before going to Hawkesbury where he didn’t quite get the rub of the green and should have finished much closer behind Linguee. Hopefully this track isn’t rock hard and has some cushion because that is when he races best,
10 Ottile (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. Close up fourth to subsequent Saturday winner Starboretta two back before going to Warwick Farm where she attempted to lead throughout and gave a solid kick but just felt the pinch behind West Of Africa, who ran well on Saturday. J Mac is on, should land near the front and run a positive race. Last bit will test.
8 Mobstar (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Kris Lees trained four year old that resumes. He hasn’t raced since July 7 at Canterbury when struggling on a near bottomless deck behind a handy type in Morioka. Given a good break and is a horse who does perform well early in the prep. Overall, not a strong race this, so watch the market and see what it does with him.
