Eight races are set to be run and won this Saturday at Eagle Farm and once again, the depth looks very good. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out five metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (12:07) : Country Music Raceday Handicap 2230m:
Back Me: The drop in depth should really suit the Chris Waller trained 2 Black Jag (Bet Now: $4.20). He comes here off the back of a last start sixth at Canterbury over 1900m behind noted swimmer Song And Laughter, but wasn’t beaten far. Has since been kept up to the mark with a trial last week at Rosehill. He finds a very winnable race here IMO.
Roughie: The unknown is 3 Best Case (Bet Now: $3.80), who was an impressive winner here last Saturday, sitting back in the run before having the last say and finishing off best in a really good effort. Steps up to the 2200m now but he did run third in a SA Derby, so that will be no issue, and he has upside compared to these.
Roughie: 7 Collateral (Bet Now: $13.00) ran over the mile at Doomben last Wednesday and stuck on pretty well near the inside, which wasn’t the place to be, eventually running third. He will love the step up in trip and is getting really good weight relief. Knockout chance.

Race Two (12:42) : Cascade Handicap (0MW) 1000m:
Back Me: 2 Hi I’m Back (Bet Now: $3.30) has been in pretty good form this time in for Tony Gollan, including a win over 1200m here at the midweeks a couple of weeks back when given a peach of a steer from Byrne, who remains on. Draws well again and back to 1000m is a definite tick. Hard to beat.
Roughie: 9 Bearskin (Bet Now: $3.50) is a handy type that resumes for Tony Gollan. This bloke has been off the scene for a tick over nine months since finishing fourth at Doomben behind Tisani Tomso in October. He was considered good enough to run in the Gold Coast Guineas last year where he ran down the track behind Nostradamus. No trials leading in, so fitness levels are the issue, but if he is anywhere near his best, he’d go close.
Roughie: 4 Meet George Jetson (Bet Now: $15.00) is a pretty handy galloper for Robert Heathcoate that has been doing a pretty good job at the provincials in recent times, winning several races in good style. The negative is that his recent city runs have resulted in failures. That’s the worry, but if he brings his best, he’ll be competitive.

Race Three (13:17) : Hamilton Hotel Handicap 1200m:
Back Me: 12 O’Reilly Cyrus (Bet Now: $6.00) resumed over the short course at Doomben a fortnight back and though beaten a fair way, I thought her effort was good given she was one of only a couple to make ground on the tearaway winner Rebel Miss. Bigger track and extra 150m are big ticks in her favour and she has a stack of upside.
Big Danger: 7 Red Handle (Bet Now: $10.00) took care of an average lot first up in a maiden at Ipswich before coming to Doomben where she ran a game fourth to impressive winner Rebel Miss, who was backed as if unbeatable. Third up now, so should be ready fitness wise. Hard to beat.
Roughie: 3 Rare Occurrence (Bet Now: $16.00) just can’t draw a gate and that has happened once again. She also comes through the Rebel Miss race where she just got too far back in the run and never got into the race. Bigger track is ideal and with a drag up, she can fire.

Race Four (13:52) : UBET Handicap (85) 1200m:
Back Me: 6 Royal Occasion (Bet Now: $6.00) was sensational in the Eye Liner behind Ninth Legion before racing at Doomben where he was again enormous in defeat when coming from last to run a close up second to Catseye Surprise. Just needs normal luck to go very close.
Roughie: 8 Brotherly Secret (Bet Now: $8.00) resumed over 1200m at the Sunny Coast a couple of weeks back and tried very hard on speed when second to No More Secrets. Rises a bit in depth here, and second up record isn’t great, but has more upside than most here.
Roughie: 2 Aroused (Bet Now: $23.00) ran at Rosehill four weeks back and attempted to lead all the way but tired late behind stablemate Grande Punto. He was due to run at Coffs Harbour but that meeting was called off. Stable have a great record when travelling. Big watch.

Race Five (14:32) : XXXX Summer Plate (Class 3) 1200m:
Back Me: 9 I’ll Take The Jag (Bet Now: $13.00) is a horse I am keen on in this line up. He showed really good promise when trained in Sydney before Toby Edmonds had him for one run, which resulted in a fast finishing fourth at the Gold Coast. Has had a full prep now under Edmonds and the trials leading in have been quite sharp. One of the better bets on the program.
Big Danger: 3 Man Of His Word (Bet Now: $6.00) ran fifth in a Stan Fox last year behind Press Statement so that to begin shows the faith trainer Bruce Hill has in this galloper. That aside, his first up run at Doomben a few weeks back behind Colinelle was excellent from a rearward settling position. Rises significantly in depth now, but he has enormous upside and is armed with a lethal finish if he gets conditions to suit.
Roughie: 12 Libertys Choice (Bet Now: $6.00) is a very interesting runner. Former Waterhouse galloper that is now with Tony Gollan. Go back through his form, five runs back he was three lengths off He’s Your Man and Royal Descent in an Epsom. Brings any sign of that form here and he’d lap them. No public trials but the market will be the guide. If there is a push, I’ll jump on.

Race Six (15:12) : Moet & Chandon Chairmans Club Handicap 1400m:
Back Me: 5 Beckham (Bet Now: $4.50) was a dominant winner at this track/distance two back before running at Doomben a fortnight back where he was wide no cover for the trip yet still ran a game second to the well backed Lucky Tom. He’ll roll forward again and with better luck this time out, he’ll take some beating I suspect.
Roughie: 11 Our Boy Nicholas (Bet Now: $7.00) ran second to Bekhcam in that Open Handicap mentioned above and his effort was very good in defeat given he was second up. He has a really solid record at the track and now being third up, he should be ready fitness wise and again draws a lovely gate.
Big Danger: 8 Alpha Beat (Bet Now: $13.00) was an alarming drifter in that Lucky Tom race and ran accordingly when finishing down the track. The trial win prior to that run was sharp and he was nearly the favourite when the markets were first put out. He has a really good second up record and could be a sharp improver on the bigger track.

Race Seven (15:52) : Spring Racing Carnival Handicap (1MW) 1400m:
Back Me: 11 Colinelle (Bet Now: $3.40) looks the way to go for me. He kicked off his prep with two sharp wins before racing in a hot three year old race a fortnight back where he tried hard and hit the front halfway down the straight but was grabbed late and had to settle for a close up third. The bigger track looks as though it will really suit this galloper and stable is low flying at the moment.
Big Danger: 10 Shipwrecked (Bet Now: $5.50) ran at Doomben two weeks ago and was confidently backed by the punters and he didn’t let them down with a dominant win, aided by a great ride from leading hoop Jim Byrne. That was against the older horses, so despite being a new four year old taking on the more seasoned campaigners, that won’t be an excuse for him here and he rates quite highly.
Roughie: 4 Deconstructed (Bet Now: $19.00) is potentially the best horse in the race by a fair distance, but he just can’t quite put it together on race day. Forget he went around last start at Eagle Farm behind Meteoroligist due to the fact he just couldn’t pick up his feet on the bog track. A firmer track is likely here, and he will be third up, so he should be at peak fitness, and if he finds his best, he goes close to knocking this field off.

Race Eight (16:32) : Trackside Open Air Cinema Handicap (Class 6) 1600m:
Back Me: 8 Yoho (Bet Now: $20.00) is a very consistent galloper for Kelso Wood who wouldn’t know how to run a bad race. He ran over 1500m here at the midweeks a tick over two weeks back where he sat on speed most of the way and fought on strongly when second to impressive winner Old Smokey. Draws to receive every chance and looks a safe each way play in the last.
Big Danger: 5 Sea Red (Bet Now: $3.60) resumed over 1350m at Doomben three weeks back and she did an amazing job to finish as close as she did given she was back at Cairns on the home turn and in the end was only beaten under two lengths. Extra trip, upside, bigger track…gee she ticks alot of boxes.
Roughie: 2 Mr Epic (Bet Now: $7.00) ran over the mile at Doomben a fortnight back and did a very good job in defeat when a close up third to stablemate and Stakes performer Sagaronne given he was back in the run and had a decent weight on his back. Senior rider steers now and with luck from a tricky gate, he will be right in the finish.
