New South Wales feature racing will again return to Randwick racecourse in which we see an eight race program headlined by the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes. Apart from the Spring Champion Stakes there is the Group 3 Angst Stakes which will also be run on the day.
Sydney has had perfect Spring weather this week and that is set to continue onto the weekend which will mean Randwick will have a Good track come race time.

Race One: Adina Apartment Hotels (bm85) 2000m Form Guide
Back Me: Mulaqen went back in a slowly run race last time out and he was able to make steady ground. He looks like he will improve with the distance and he gets an advantage in the weights on the winner. $6.50 in betting which looks good value in the small field.
Don’t Back Me: Marden hasn’t really looked like winning this preparation and his stats suggest that will continue on Saturday. He is yet to win from three times at the track and from six starts at the distance he has only managed the one win.
Big Danger: Entirely Platinum is a lightly raced galloper who will be stepping up in class here although he drops a lot of weight from his previous runs. This doesn’t look to be that tough of a Saturday class race and i think he will be hard to beat.

Race Two: Sharp Plate 1000m Form Guide
Back Me: Kokomo trialled well and that trial form has stacked up with Lucky Raquie running third in the Gimcrack last weekend. Drawn the inside barrier which will also help.
Don’t Back Me: All runners having their first start so it is hard to have a don’t back me.
Big Danger: Unencumbered has been the best backed runner outside of Kokomo and punters continue to back this two year old who won his last trial well.
Roughie: Khrysler has been well backed from double figures and with the money that has come he must have a live chance in this race.

Race Three: The Great Gatsby Blu-ray-bm74 1400m Form Guide
Back Me: Chateau Lafaite hit the line really well last start and only just missed on the line. There looks to be good speed in this race which will suit her running pattern and im expecting her to be running over the top of them late.
Don’t Back Me: Surge Ahead has won two from two although this will be a tougher task and he wont be able to afford to jump poorly on Saturday. There looks to be decent speed so he will be tested throughout so i will be leaving him out of my selections.
Big Danger: Earnest Desire has drawn the inside barrier which will allow him to go back to midfield on the rails and get a good run throughout. Should be a good tempo in the race and he will be hitting the line well late.
Roughie: Senior Council won a decent race in a lower class last start and from that run he will drop 5kg which should see him improve further. Currently $21 in betting and from a good barrier he will be right in the finish.

Race Four: Xirrus Sprint (bm80) 1200m Form Guide
Back Me: Fedde was contesting some very good races last preparation so in comparison this looks easier. He will get into the weights well with the claim and his fresh form is quite good having a 50% win record doing so. Likes the distance and can be backed each way at $12 in betting.
Don’t Back Me: Maximilian had every chance last start, they went quick and he sat off the speed and wasn’t able to get the win. He draws a worse barrier and goes up in weight here and he has never won at the track or distance so at $5 ill be betting around him.
Big Danger: Shelford was ridden on pace alst start and there was good speed on in the race so with the big weight i thought he was very gallant in defeat. Draws a good barrier and will have better conditions on Saturday which will see him go very close.
Roughie: Ivory Cognac has won four times from six career starts albeit in easier company but he definitely knows how to win which some of these dont so i think he has to be included at double figures.

Race Five: Sydney City Toyota (bm85) 1400m Form Guide
Back Me: Reunite i thought was ridden upside down last start when going to the front. He is much better ridden quietly and i think they will do that on Saturday. There will be good speed in the race and he has a very good turn of foot when his on song and at $15 ill be risking that is on Saturday.
Don’t Back Me: Landing is a good horse which is shown in his winning record although he will be having his first start in almost a year and a half and will have to overcome a wide barrier and a big weight so at the odds id prefer to bet around him.
Big Danger: That’s A Good Idea was up against a talented field last start and he over raced throughout the run which gave him no chance in the end. If he can settle well on Saturday he should be very hard to beat.
Roughie: Tromso raced well first up with the big weight which he will have to carry here as well and despite not having won for a while i think he is on track for a win soon which could be on Saturday.

Race Six: Moet & Chandon Spring Champion 2000m Form Guide
Back Me: Criterion has been stepping up through the distances and his runs have been getting better each time which suggests at 2000m he will be very hard to beat. He has contested some very good races in his career and this will be one of the easier ones so the $17 being offered looks very good value. He will sit midfield from the barrier and will be running on.
Don’t Back Me: Complacent only just got the job done last start and coming out of that race there was a few runners who finished behind him who i think should have won so on that i will be leaving him out on Saturday.
Big Danger: Rock Hero put in an eye catching run last start after missing the kick then powering along the rail late to win on the line. They would have worked on his barrier manors this week and if he can jump with them he will be hard to beat.
Roughie: Equator was good last start with the big weight. He has drawn poorly here which is a concern but if he can get into a good spot i think with the weight drop he will be right in the finish at double figure odds.

Race Seven: Myer Spring Fashion (bm90) 1600m Form Guide
Back Me: Gangster’s Choice put in a massive run last start when going to the front and being pressured throughout with the big weight. He wasn’t expected to stick on like he did which showed a lot of fight. Take his wet form out and he has a very good record, he drops 3kg here and should get an easier lead so the $7.50 looks great value.
Don’t Back Me: Our Desert Warrior i thought had every chance last start and although that was in a tougher race he goes up 5kg from that run and will have to overcome a wide barrier so the $2.10 doesn’t look inviting.
Big Danger: Choice Bro is coming out of the best form race behind Boban where he hit the line strongly late. If he can match that run he will be hard to beat in this class.
Roughie: Single will be having her third up run this preparation and history suggests she will do well having won two times from three tries third up. The 3kg claim gets her into the weights well and i think she is a horse you must include at $17 in the race.

Race Eight: Mcgrath Est. Agents Angst Stks 1600m Form Guide
Back Me: Sharnee Rose beat some very good mares last start and from that win she isn’t really penalised in the weights only going up 1kg here. She has drawn well and wont have to do any work throughout the race and with some luck in the straight i think she can make it back to back wins.
Don’t Back Me: Lucky Lago is stepping up in class here and from barrier 14 i think she might find herself wide. She will need all the favours on Saturday to be in the finish and i don’t think she will get them so i will be leaving here out.
Big Danger: Cathay Lady did early work last start and carried the rest of the field up to the leader as well and on the line she wasn’t beaten far. She drops slightly in weight here and from barrier 4 she wont have to spend any early petrol and she will be very hard to run down.
Roughie: Lilliburlero didn’t race as well last start as i thought she would although the run before that was very good and if she can return to that form she would be winning here at $10.
