12/12/2019 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Wyong, Wyong Magic Millions Classic day

The road towards the Gold Coast takes a significant step at Wyong on Thursday with their Magic Millions Day, with the two Magic Millions races the drawcards on the seven race card. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

The safe option here is 6 Miss Sure Shot (Bet Now: $1.85) for Team Snowden, who attempted to lead all the way over 1300m at Warwick Farm and looked to get a good time of it in front but being first up, her condition just gave out late when third to Saas Fee in a maiden which I think will turn out to be a good form reference. Has the run under the belt, lands on speed and should take some beating.

2 Sea Echo (Bet Now: $3.30) is a son of Sepoy for Joe Pride who ran in an 1100m maiden here last time out after a two month break when getting a cheap run outside the speed and was there to win but didn’t have the turn of foot to go with the leader and eventual winner Adelong, who was impressive. Fitter and up to 1350m, he appeals.

1 Completed (Bet Now: $10.00) is a big improver here I suspect. Had decent market support at odds when resuming under the lights at Canterbury but after being tardy away, he settled out the back and couldn’t come on at all in a disappointing effort, but he had been trialling well leading in and you have to respect the market support he had.

6 Submission (Bet Now: $3.30) is a Team Kearney trained gelding that was outclassed two back at Canterbury behind Bigboyroy before going to Muswellbrook over 1750m where he had the suck run in behind the speed and loomed to win but couldn’t quite finish it off when second. Back to the mile I like, has the gate to use and the overall depth here is weak.

5 Kimpembe (Bet Now: $3.90) is the one with upside. Chris Waller trains this son of Savabeel, who ran over 1400m at Kembla last time out when back off the speed with cover and was held up for a stride or two, but for the most part, he had his chance when down the track behind Money Magic. Considerable drop in depth and up to the mile are two big ticks.

4 Petrus (Bet Now: $6.00) is a son of Pierro for Joe Curran that comes through the Muswellbrook maiden mentioned above that Submission ran second in. This guy was three wide no cover for the trip and doing a mountain of work and really, he did a great job to stick on like he did and run third. Gets Bowman on from an inside gate, he’s the overs in the race.

10 Lady Highly (Bet Now: $3.50) shouldn’t be discounted for Clare Cunningham. She ran over 1800m at Rosehill last time and despite being an outsider, she loomed to win but the last 200m, she died on the run when fourth to Pincer. She’s got a fair amount of upside compared to most here, and stable do place them quite well.

1 Brilliant Mind (Bet Now: $3.00) drops a fair bit in grade/depth after contesting midweeks at Canterbury at his past two where he has done work on speed and while he has been held, he’s been far from disgraced in races which have had far greater depth than here. Gets the cart over via Savvy Valentino and is a tough, tough customer.

2 Into The Oblivion (Bet Now: $6.50) is a Paul Perry trained stayer that ran second to Alam Mo Na in that Taree race mentioned above. He had a good run just off the speed near the rail and was presented to be dangerous on the turn but no match for the Kris Lees mare. Does get a 2.5kg weight pull on her here and draws better. One for multiples.

5 Diamond Thunder (Bet Now: $2.00) will be suited better at the Gold Coast over 1400m, but Mark Newnham has had this preparation mapped out for months and always have to like a long range plan. Strong winner of the Brian Crowley before being freshened up. Trialled well since and while better suited on a bigger track and up in trip, he has class.

7 Discharged (Bet Now: $4.60) is a WaterBott trained three year old that has plenty of talent and that was on display when resuming under the lights at Canterbury with a tough on speed win. He was there to be run down in the straight but showed good ticker when it counted and was too good. Looks the speed in the race and Clark takes this ride over Leviathan.

6 Leviathan (Bet Now: $4.20) is a Team Snowden trained three year old that was heavily supported when resuming a few weeks back over 1200m at Newcastle and if you were on, you’d have to say he was disappointing, but taking emotion/punting out of it, the run was very good behind Burning Crown. That horse got it cheap in front and those behind were going to find it hard to win, so Leviathan was a definite pass mark. Hard to beat here.

Pretty keen to see 3 Chat (Bet Now: $16.00) resume for John Thompson. Son of Deep Field who hasn’t raced since August 3 at Kembla when breaking the maiden status in good style in a race where the form has been solid since. Was really taken by his recent Randwick trial where he looked outstanding and made the well performed Edison look second rate. 1000m is short of his best, but I’ll trust what I saw in the trial.

2 Auxin (Bet Now: $2.90) has promised a fair bit since day one for James Cummings but for the most part hasn’t quite lived up to it, but he got the maiden win out of the way at this track/distance last time out, aided by a lovely ride near the speed by Josh Parr, finishing best in a tight go. Now he’s got a win on the board, he can go on with it.

9 Miss Kyeema (Bet Now: $41.00) lacks the class of most of these, but there does appear to be a heap of speed engaged, so I can see her sitting back and launching late. Ran over 900m at Muswellbrook last time out when back near last and finishing off strongly to run third to impressive winner Magnarock. Up to 1000m I like and is a definite blowout chance at odds.

6 Every Rose (Bet Now: $1.75) is a smart filly for Mark Newnham who can seal Magic Millions favouritism with a win here. Debuted in the Gimcrack where she did everything right from the outset and she bolted up in an impressive start to her career. Had a little freshen up and looked smart in a Randwick trial win. She’ll look the winner for a long way.

Been a leading member of the 3 Strike (Bet Now: $4.60) fan club and won’t be dropping off here. He debuted at Eagle Farm back on October 12 when on speed and despite doing a little bit wrong in the straight, he was far too good for his rivals. Overall time was nothing flash, but stable are having a good run with their juveniles and loved the way he trialled last week at Rosehill.

5 Remorseless (Bet Now: $11.00) is a stablemate of Strike that is also resuming from an Eagle Farm debut. His first run though was disappointing, albeit he was wide no cover and didn’t really know what he was doing out there. Been given a break and his Rosehill trial was pretty good to the eye. If he runs up to what he showed prior to the debut, he’s in the mix for exotics.

I think she’s a good bet here 10 Ondo Pasa (Bet Now: $15.00). Stan Thomas has this mare flying at the moment. Loved the way she found the line two back at Newcastle behind Pinup Miss before going to the midweeks at Warwick Farm where she just got too far back and couldn’t build any sort of momentum behind Plenty. Think she’ll only run well against these.

9 Terroir (Bet Now: $3.70) is a consistent mare for James Cummings that is racing well, but can’t crack it for another win. Thought she had every chance over the mile at Gosford last time under Penza and loomed to win but couldn’t quite finish it off when a close up third to Dancing Rachel. She’ll run her usual honest race…could I back her to win? No.

2 Disgraceful (Bet Now: $15.00) has come back in really good order for Dale Riley. Hard luck story fresh at Hawkesbury before being ridden too close to the speed at Quirindi. Then raced at this track/distance when ridden cold by Clenton before getting the splits at the right time and loved the way he attacked the line to nab them late. Goes close with the right run.

NEXT BEST: Race Three Number 10 Lady Highly

LONG SHOT: Race Seven Number 10 Ondo Pasa
