Back Me

6 Acquittal (Bet Now: $8.00) is one of the more fascinating runners on the card. Danny Williams trains this bloke, who hasn’t raced since the Country Championships Final when far from disgraced behind Victorem. Was back in work for the Kosciuszko but stable wasn’t happy and tipped him out. Back now and speaking to Danny on Tuesday, he said the horse is flying and is more forward in condition than the stablemate for this so that’ll do me.

Danger

9 Highway Sixtysix (Bet Now: $7.50) a definite threat for me. Quality mare for Danny Williams who is first up on a likely Country Championships path. This girl hasn’t raced since early September in a Highway where she couldn’t pick her feet up on a wet track when fourth to Handle The Truth. Track won’t be bottomless like then. Will improve with the run but has a touch of class/quality.

Long Shot

3 Star Boy (Bet Now: $7.00) is an interesting runner. Son of Pluck for Cav that resumes. He ended last campaign with three wins on the bounce, including a Highway win at Warwick Farm. Stable can usually get them ready for a first up win, especially in town. Very sharp trial win at Scone recently and he ran sizzling time. Market will tell you if he’s ready.

Race 2. (13:30) TAB Highway Handicap (Class 3) 1600m

Back Me

1 Hemmerle (Bet Now: $2.00) should be winning. Just depends what price you’re comfortable taking. Really good resumption at Rosehill before going to Warwick Farm where I thought J Mac rode a rare poor race on the gelding, going in instead of out, costing it momentum and the win for mine when second to Moobi. Gets clear air this time and he should be too good.

Danger

5 Haames (Bet Now: $9.00) is a horse I have a query on. Colt Prosser trains this bloke, who was beaten by a good one in Stella Sea Sun first up. That was 1200m and he stepped up to the mile second up and I think the quick distance leap was just a tad much. Now has the run under the belt at the mile and he has run well in Highways in the past.

Long Shot

8 Biodynamic (Bet Now: $15.00) is flying and I wanted to back him wherever he went next time, hoping for a soft kill at Moruya or Goulburn. Comes here, but if we get decent odds, I want to back him each way. Excellent resumption at Canberra before going to Moruya where I’m convinced he should have been in the finish but had no luck in the straight. Up to the mile on the big track looks perfect and I can only see him running well.

Race 3. (14:05) The Aviary @ Royal Randwick Sprint (78) 1200m

Back Me

10 Taniko (Bet Now: $3.20) looks suited back to this level. James Cummings trained mare who ran over 1200m here a fortnight ago in a much stronger race and was far from disgraced without much luck in the straight when fourth to Clipper. She’ll look the winner at some stage I’m sure and from the gate, she can sit much closer in the run.

Danger

7 Pumpkin Pie (Bet Now: $4.60) is a former Danny Williams trained mare that had her first run for Richard Freedman here two weeks back and I think it was a bit of a forgive run. The first three in the run were the first three home, she was back and was found to be 2/5 lame. The trials leading in were outstanding so if she’s anywhere near right and recovered, I think she can give this a shake.

Long Shot

4 Sikhing Glory (Bet Now: $8.50) is becoming a tad costly to follow this prep but in saying that he hasn’t been far away. Three runs back from a spell, the latest on the Kensington track at Randwick when running third to the well performed filly Tell Me. His last win came over 1000m but at the moment, he’s racing as if the 1300m will suit and certainly appeals.

Race 4. (14:40) 2019 Membership Handicap (78) 1500m

Back Me

11 Seahampton (Bet Now: $4.60) gets the nod. Chris Waller trains this mare, who was six weeks between runs when racing on the Kensington track on New Years Day and if you were on, you’d feel disappointed with her effort because she had the right sit and was there to win. I reckon race fitness probably beat her and now she’s got the run under the belt, she should be better off and we know she’s got the talent. Giving her another chance.

Danger

3 Sweet Victory (Bet Now: $9.00) could be a sharp improver. Closed off well two back at Warwick Farm behind Nicci’s Gold before contesting the Belle Of The Turf at Gosford where she was okay and far from disgraced for mine behind Sexy Eyes. Looks well placed back to this level and being fourth up, she should just about be ready to go when it comes to race fitness.

Long Shot

5 Strome (Bet Now: $11.00) faces her D-Day at this level IMO. She was a sectional star in her first two runs back from a break before going to Warwick Farm where she was unwanted in betting and ran accordingly behind Nicci’s Gold, but I’d put that down to the wet track. Much better suited on top of the ground and on the bigger track, she could easily bounce back.

Race 5. (15:15) Summer Sprint 1000m

Back Me

Hopefully there’s method in the madness when it comes to putting 8 Single Bullet (Bet Now: $2.60) on top, which I’m doing. Things fell into place perfectly for him two back at this track/distance. Ridden colt, fast speed, peeled out, cuddled, pounced. Last start at Rosehill he just got too far back. Small-ish field means he won’t be far away and when he did win here, clearly clocked some of the fastest splits of the meeting.

Danger

Great to see 4 Frolic (Bet Now: $5.00) back at the races. This quality mare hasn’t raced since the Inglis Guineas during the Scone Carnival where she was a gallant third to Moss Trip. Ed O’Rourke did train her solely but before then she was under the care of Michael Freedman before he went to Hong Kong. Now Freedman is back, the trials have been encouraging and she is high quality when at her best.

Long Shot

The speed in front will definitely suit 2 Badajoz (Bet Now: $15.00). He hasn’t done much for a little while now, but I thought there was a bit of merit in his last start effort at Doomben given he was back near last and wide behind Fiery Heights, but his late splits weren’t too bad. Great racord at Randwick and the best version of Badajoz would see him go close to winning.

Race 6. (15:55) Tab.com.au Handicap (78) 2400m

Back Me

9 Earth Angel (Bet Now: $10.00) on top. The Hayes/Dabernig team trains this mare, who comes here off the back of a blacktype placing last start in the Tatts Cup on New Years Day when second to naval Warfare. Beaten over six lengths but probably should have finished closer had she not pulled so hard in the run. If she brings better racing manners this time around, she should take some beating.

Danger

14 Vihari (Bet Now: $5.00) might be finally starting to put it together. Was one of the sickest beats of 2018 four back at Newcastle since then has raced very well and comes to town off the back of a spank job of her rivals over the 2360m at Newcastle, winning by nearly six. She’s a mare in a purple patch and now seems the right time to test the water at Saturday level.

Long Shot

13 Red Dream (Bet Now: $91.00) could be a sneaky chance at odds. Formerly with Kerry Parker and he has just taken a few runs to find his feet under Paul Perry. Latest run came here on Boxing Day behind Tunero where he was a bit unlucky in that he should have finished a tad closer. His best form would see him go close. I’d be including him in wider exotics at odds.

Race 7. (16:35) ATC Handicap (88) 1400m

Back Me

6 Sweet Deal (Bet Now: $6.00) is absolutely flying this time in for John Thompson and she isn’t dropping off. Won two on the bounce prior to racing at this track/distance a fortnight ago where she was given every chance in the run but just missed out on the bob when beaten by Redouble. Less depth here compared to then I’m suggesting. Just depends what’s left in the tank.

Danger

5 Organza (Bet Now: $3.90) comes back to the 1400m after racing over the mile at her past couple, the latest in the Belle Of The Turf at Gosford when a close up fourth to Sexy Eyes in a bunched finish. Not sure what upside she’s got left, and probably doesn’t have the zip of some of these, but she gets Marquand on from a soft draw, is hard fit and in good form.

Long Shot

7 After All That (Bet Now: $13.00) went around stupid odds when racing over 1200m here a fortnight back off a freshen up and he ran a beauty in defeat, closing off strongly to run second to the above average Deprive. Think he’ll be ideally suited up to 1400m, fitter and I don’t think this field has a horse with the class and turn of foot that Deprive produced the other day.

Race 8. (17:20) #theraces Handicap (78) 1500m

Back Me

Going to have a throw at the stumps in the shape of 3 King Tomlola (Bet Now: $13.00). Gerald Ryan trains this gelding, who resumed over 1400m here on December 15 and I thought his effort behind Penske was quite good. Clearly in need of the run but looked to travel well and for a few strides looked a threat but condition just gave out. Probably needs another run, but there are no real standouts here, a hard 1500m will suit and he’s well in after the claim.

Danger

10 Chalmers (Bet Now: $8.50) is becoming a tad costly to follow but up to the mile on the bigger track might be what he’s looking for. Ran at Canterbury last Friday night and ran to the line strongly late when balanced up, running second to Dawn Raid. His 1600m record is solid enough and though this is a step up in grade, overall, it doesn’t appear to be an overly strong race.

Long Shot

What to do with 8 Eagle Bay? (Bet Now: $15.00) He’s had a bit of a wrap on him since coming over from New Zealand but for the most part, he’s been most disappointing. New campaign now and interestingly only brings one trial leading up to the resumption, compared to last prep where he had two trials. On his NZ form, he’d just about be winning. Have to see how he parades.

Race 9. (17:55) Autumn Carnival On Sale Handicap (78) 1800m

Back Me

If he doesn’t get a run, then 9 Generalissimo (Bet Now: $15.00) goes on top. I know he hasn’t won for a long time, and it’s his first look at 1800m, but I think he’s going really well. No chance of beating Mister Songman in track record speed last time but he stuck on very well to run second. Stable finds Tom Marquand to steer and generally with these tricky middle distance races, I like horses with speed in the legs, which this horse has.

Danger

3 Live And Free (Bet Now: $1.00) is a nice horse and appears well placed against this lot, but gee he’s short enough. He found some winning form last time out at this track/distance. Was it the horse that won it or was it the 12/10 steer from Marquand? I’m thinking more the latter. He’ll have to do more work in order to win the race but whenever John O’Shea talks about this horse, it’s always positive.

Long Shot

12 So You Win (Bet Now: $12.00) isn’t the most reliable horse going around but I’ll concede his two runs back from a spell have been quite good. Closed off well first up at Rosehill behind Turnberry before being freshened up and racing over the mile here where he got back and finished off nicely behind the in form Tip Top. Should be near ready fitness wise and he drops a bit in depth.
