11/9/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Doomben, Doomben Mile day

Brisbane metro racing this Saturday heads to Doomben for a nine event meeting. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out 2.5 metres for the entire circuit.

2 Dis Dah Wun (Bet Now: $3.70) on top in the opener. Team Sears trained mare that ran over this track/distance two weeks ago and didn’t have the best of lucks in the straight behind Miami Fleiss. Drops back to 0MW and from a soft gate, with the claim, she does look hard to beat.

1 Frozen In Time (Bet Now: $5.50) is a daughter of Husson for Kris Lees that had been a little while between wins but that run of outs changed last time out at the Sunny Coast, getting ridden with a sit. Mallyon was able to slice his way through and the mare charged late to get the win. Her best is good enough to win.

9 Mother’s Day (Bet Now: $7.50) has done little wrong since joining Tony Gollan. Was formerly with Rod Northam but seems to be enjoying life in the sunshine state. Put together a couple of wins on the bounce before racing here last Wednesday and made up good ground without threatening behind Big Bad Bruce, finishing third. Definite winning threat.

It has been a little while since 3 Cabochon Lil (Bet Now: $7.50) has raced at 2000m in her lone outing at the trip, but she’s racing like she will be be suited. Ran over 1800m at the Sunny Coast last time out and kept finding nearer the inside, just missing out on the win when second to Brilliant Concept, just missing out on the win. Up to 2000m, she’s hard to beat.

4 Rapaport (Bet Now: $3.00) is a very interesting runner. David Vandyke trained former Kiwi that made his Australian debut at the Gold Coast over 1800m when on speed throughout and what I liked is the ticker he showed. He was there to be beaten but found under pressure and was too good. You’d like to think there is upside left and up to 2000m should be fine.

2 Hostage Of War (Bet Now: $9.00) is flying for Brenton Andrew. Should have won last time out at Ipswich, but pilot error, a lack of vigour cost him dearly, just missing out on picking up Short Sara. He’s in career best form this guy and is certainly in this race as a winning threat for sure. The only knock is the jockey booking, but understand why she’s on.

1 London Banker (Bet Now: $1.85) is a winning machine for Kelly Schweida and he can keep that up. Backed as if unbeatable when racing over this track/distance two weeks ago and despite a few nervous moments in the straight, he finished best and was too good. Creeping up in the relative weights but hard to knock the way he’s going.

2 He Runs Away (Bet Now: $6.00) isn’t far off a win for Chris Waller. He ran behind London Banker a fortnight back here and was good late from off the speed, finishing a close up fourth, beaten just under a length. Sooner or later, these Waller stayers greet the judge first, so he commands respect.

4 Stardome (Bet Now: $6.50) can bounce back. Good in defeat two back over 1800m when second to Champagne Aunty. Backed up a week later here and was solid without jumping up and down behind London Banker. Has the two weeks between runs under the belt now and can win without surprising.

6 Whitewater (Bet Now: $12.00) is a progressive three year old for David Vandyke that I think can measure up. Debuted with a second at the Sunny Coast behind the talented animal Quackery, won since. Whitewater then went to the Gold Coast where he looked a good thing on paper and duly saluted. He’s heading in the right direction and is in form whereas a couple of these, the jury is out.

1 Prince Of Boom (Bet Now: $2.40) has credits in the bank and should be given another chance despite being beaten here two weeks ago first up. He was wide no cover for the trip and couldn’t finish it off, running out of condition. You’d like to think he has improvement to come and has class from the Winter Carnival to bounce back.

3 Glorious Ruby (Bet Now: $9.00) is a little query at 1350m but the saving grace for her is potentially a soft lead. Attempted to lead throughout over 1200m here two weeks back and gave a solid kick, but just couldn’t quite finish it off when third to Startantes. If she gets a cheap furlong or two, 1350m should be okay.

1 Achiever (Bet Now: $4.60) has the class to give this a shake. Resumed over 1350m here two weeks back and was a bit surprise at how tight he was in betting given he’s a horse who needs racing and more ground and he ran like that. Might need one more, but he does bring the class factor.

2 Fortified (Bet Now: $8.00) might need one more but he too has the Waller polish and much like Achiever, is second up. He resumed over 1400m at the Gold Coast and while he was never really a winning threat, didn’t mind his finale behind The Hand. Jimmy Orman gets on well with him and up to the mile, is a definite winning chance.

10 Vendidit (Bet Now: $21.00) should be suited up in trip for Team Guy. Three weeks between runs since racing over 1400m on his home track at the Gold Coast when back off the speed and working home strongly when third. Gets in really well after the claim and can settle much closer in the run from the good draw.

8 Wapiti (Bet Now: $4.80) should love the rise to the mile for Gary Duncan. Both runs back from a break have come over 1350m here two weeks ago where he got back off the speed and didn’t really get a chance to build proper momentum but he was quite good late behind Ballistic Boy. Big tick up in trip and happy to be in his corner.

2 Ballistic Boy (Bet Now: $2.60) is a talented animal for Chris Anderson that looks to have returned in good order. Backed with confidence when resuming at this track/distance a fortnight back and under a heavy ride from Brad Stewart, he wore them down and was too good. Should love the rise to the mile and has got enormous upside to come.

4 Right Or Wrong (Bet Now: $15.00) should be suited up to the mile. Last couple of runs have come over the 1300m/1350m distance range, the latest effort being behind Ballistic Boy when back and did make up okay ground. Can sit much closer in the run and up in trip, is a knockout chance.

8 Big Bad Bruce (Bet Now: $3.20) has found that winning feeling again and he can go right on with it now. Tony Gollan trained gelding that was smashed in betting when racing here last Wednesday. Had a suck run behind the speed and once he found clear air, gee he was strong late and impressive to the line in winning. Hard to beat here.

3 Rebel Salute (Bet Now: $3.20) is a progressive animal for Team Guy and is one of the hardest to beat. Resumed with a narrow second at Ipswich before going to this track/distance when backed with confidence late, and he absolutely spanked them. He clearly likes wet ground. Just needs to do it on firmer footing.

10 Arthur In Charge (Bet Now: $6.50) is a son of Charge Forward for Chris Munce that resumes. This guy hasn’t raced since April 10 here when down the track behind Wonderful Riri, who was at the time one of the form horses in Brisbane. Trialled well last week and can pull out a decent run fresh so watch the market.

Fitter and up in trip are two big ticks for 6 You Make Me Smile (Bet Now: $4.80). O’Dea/Hosyted trained gelding that resumed over 1000m at Eagle Farm three weeks ago. He sat back off the speed and chased strongly late when third to the in form King Klaus. Much better suited up in trip and he’ll take beating here.

Market will be fascinating with 1 Soxagon (Bet Now: $3.30) because really, he could easily spank this field if he’s ready. Has looked strong in a couple of trials to get ready and from all reports went like a jet in a recent Toowoomba jumpput hence the early market push. Last 10-15 minutes of betting will tell you if he’s ready. If he remains around $3.50, he becomes the one to beat.

7 Royal Witness (Bet Now: $21.00) should be better for the run under the belt, which came over 1000m at Eagle Farm three weeks back. He paraded like he would need the run and that is how it panned out behind King Klaus. Like him up in trip and has raced well here previously, so include in exotics.

5 Animate (Bet Now: $6.50) is third up from a break for Kris Lees and should be at peak fitness. Resumed with a good second to Big Parade at Kembla before racing there two weeks ago when wide no cover for the trip and tired late behind Madam Legend. Back to this level, he’ll take beating.

2 Peppi La Few (Bet Now: $7.50) is wearing down the patience of punters but he is bursting to win one. Has finished runner up in all three runs this prep, including a run behind subsequent Group ll winner Phobetor. Last run was at Eagle Farm when chasing strongly, just failing to catch Royal Hale. D-Day for him here.

8 Acrobatic (Bet Now: $14.00) is racing in good form and is a key threat. Rail hugging steer from Jaden Lloyd saw him bolt up here two back before racing here again a fortnight back when doing work in the run and was entitled to drop away but kept finding under pressure, beaten narrowly by Catesby. Better luck this time around, he can take this out.

NEXT BEST: Race Two Number 3 Cabochon Lil

LONG SHOT: Race Four Number 6 Whitewater
