11/4/2020 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Doomben

A strong nine race card has been assembled for Doomben this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out five metres for the entire circuit.

7 Isotope (Bet Now: $2.20) is a Deep Field filly for Tony Gollan that is on debut. She’s had two trials in readiness for start one, with just the one trial this prep, which came on March 24 at Doomben over 840m and looked to move pretty well on speed I thought when a close up second. Has early pace, a good gate and in the right stable.

5 The Diamond (Bet Now: $6.00) is a Stuart Kendrick trained colt that debuted over 1200m at the Sunny Coast back on March 20 where he was off the speed and a bit green/raw to the caper but was sound late when making ground, finishing third to Dejanova. Back in trip is interesting but has race experience and should be strong at the end.

20 Silver Bo (Bet Now: $12.00) is a daughter of Press Statement for Chris Anderson that resumes. This girl hasn’t been sighted since debuting at the Gold Coast in November over 900m when down the track behind the then boom juvenile The Drinks Cart. Showed good zip in a recent Doomben trial win…just a matter of overcoming the wide gate.

12 Musicmaker (Bet Now: $2.35) gets the nod for me. David Vandyke trains this filly, who was formerly with Anthony Freedman. First run for the new stable came over 1000m at the Sunny Coast when on speed throughout and tried hard but was no match late for Mary Valley. Beat the rest comfortably and with the run under the belt, looks the one to bet on.

6 Dafeenah (Bet Now: $12.00) has had a few chances to break the maiden tag but in two runs back from a break, she’s been good. Both outings have come over 1000m at the Sunny Coast, the latest when wide no cover on speed last Wednesday at the Sunny Coast when second to Me As I Am. Little query at 1200m, but hard to knock the way she has returned.

11 Kokopo Kitty (Bet Now: $20.00) is the knockout chance. Pulled up with excuses post race in the Mary Valley maiden at the Sunny Coast before going to the Sunny Coast 1000m again and was good late when fourth to Queen Of Emeralds. Think a rise to 1200m will suit her and if she can keep improving, she’s certainly in the game.

1 Dusty Tycoon (Bet Now: $3.20) is a Rob Heathcoate trained filly that is resuming. She was one of the leading chances for the locals in the Magic Millions off the back of two sharp wins but couldn’t handle the pressure on speed when down the track behind Away Game. Two trials are what is to be expected from her and appears to have come back well.

5 Minjee (Bet Now: $4.60) has to be respected again. Filthy I dropped off her two weeks ago when she won here at good odds. Had been trialling like a star prior to her debut but didn’t handle the wet track at all, getting beat as a $1.28 favourite. Jumped double figures here two weeks ago, found firmer footing and produced a brilliant finale to win. Stable has a high opinion of her so has to be respected.

3 Broken Hero (Bet Now: $8.00) is a son of Better Than Ready for Neville Stewart who was somewhat unwanted in betting when debuting at Beaudesert but gee he was impressive in giving them a spanking in okay overall time. Off that, 1200m is fine for him. Just a matter of whether or not he can handle the steep class rise.

Would love a rise in trip for 2 Star Of Michelin (Bet Now: $1.90) but I think he’s too good for this lot. Ran over the mile at Eagle Farm three weeks ago where he sat back off the speed before peeling wider and once Thornton pushed the button, it was race over and he spanked them. Takes on the older horses now, but hard fit, in form and has quality.

10 Smart Meteor (Bet Now: $4.00) is a Chris Munce trained three year old that should appreciate the step up in trip. On the Derby path and looks on track to run well in it. Ran over 1350m here two weeks ago and was far from disgraced in defeat behind a good one in Command’N’Conquer. Very well in after the claim and gets run of the race from the draw.

8 Coastal Prince (Bet Now: $5.00) is teasing to win one and I think he gets a good chance here. Given a sweet steer just off the pace here two weeks ago at this track/distance and looked to have every chance to wear down Junction, but that horse was just too good from the front. Knocking on the door to win again and is hard to beat here.

Like 8 Populist (Bet Now: $5.50) here. Gave them a spanking when leading throughout two back at the Sunny Coast before racing over 2200m here two weeks ago. They rode him quiet, which I think clearly backfired, when third to Calibration. Noteworthy he was well backed that day so hopefully they go forward and prove tough to run down.

1 Galtero (Bet Now: $3.60) is knocking on the door to win one and I think he gets a great chance here. Attempted to lead throughout over 1800m two weeks ago at Eagle Farm and looked to get every chance under Nothdurft. Just couldn’t quite finish it off and was run down late by Benfica Princess. Query at 2000m, but hopefully can get cover and a decent drag into the race.

Convinced that 7 Monaco Snob (Bet Now: $41.00) has come back well. Was good late first up over 1350m here behind Amicita before going to the mile two weeks ago and was warming to the task late behind Junction in an on pace dominated affair. Gets out to a more ideal trip now and has plenty of upside compared to most engaged here.

2 Stampe (Bet Now: $4.80) is becoming very reliable for Chris Munce. Very good in defeat two back in the Aquis Jewel behind The Odyssey before racing at this track/distance when trying hard and was game in defeat but clearly no match for a Stakes class horse of the future in Command’N’Conquer. Hard to beat provided he holds his form.

3 Ballistic Boy (Bet Now: $3.00) is a Chris Anderson trained three year old that has come back in really order. Two back toughed it out very strongly to win over 1400m at Eagle Farm before going back to this track/distance and was a real eye catcher late behind Command’N’Conquer. Can sit much closer in the run if need be and if that eventuates, he’ll look the winner for the most part.

4 Ziemba (Bet Now: $4.40) is right in this. Resumed over 1200m here last Saturday in a 3YO race where he was back nearer the inside and I think if the gap on the fence was there, he would have been right in the finish instead of being five lengths off Okeechobee. Like him up in trip, fitter and has won on the seven day turnaround previously.

14 Profit (Bet Now: $2.50) for me. Chris Anderson trains this three year old, who is blessed with so much talent but at times has let punters down, which is what he did three weeks ago at Eagle Farm when third to Star Of Michelin. That was his first run in a month so you’d like to think he improves off that and gets the blinkers back on.

Giving respect to 2 Oink (Bet Now: $7.50). Kelly Schweida trains this gelding, who resumed in the Goldmarket at the Gold Coast and despite never being a winning threat, he did make up ground and was quite good in defeat behind Snitch. Saves his best for Doomben and the drop in depth is significant and noteworthy. Hard to beat I think.

5 Alpine Dancer (Bet Now: $26.00) is a Rob Heathcoate trained gelding that had trialled up okay prior to resuming three weeks ago over 1200m at Eagle Farm where he was back near last in the run and did make up some ground without being a winning threat behind Boomtown Lass. Like him up in trip…might need one more but is one for multiples.

Class will carry 1 Baccarat Baby (Bet Now: $3.10) a long way. Talented mare that is resuming for David Vandyke, having not raced since the Empire Rose in the Spring at Flemington when a very game fifth to star mare Melody Belle. She’s a bomb when produced first up and from the barrier, she does no work in the run.

Despite being first up with bigger fish to fry, I think the class of 3 Tambo’s Mate (Bet Now: $3.00) could just about get him home. Quality, quality galloper for Stuart Kendrick that resumes after really coming of age during the Summer Carnival, graduating from benchmark level to winning at Stakes level. No public trials to get a guide on how forward he is, but has class and a very good fresh record.

A fast run 1200m will be ideal for the Kelly Schweida trained 2 Guard Of Honour (Bet Now: $11.00). Comes through the Boom Chicka Boom race from a few weeks back at Eagle Farm where the tempo was somewhat against him but didn’t mind the way he closed off late in the piece. He is a horse who likes racing with fresh legs and this is a winnable race.

Looks a lovely progression for the Rob Heathcoate trained three year old 12 Fasano (Bet Now: $2.90). Formerly with David Payne, had his first run for Heathcoate at the midweeks over 1200m at Eagle Farm when sprouting wings late from the back to score a big win. You’d like to think he’ll come on from that…does he want further? Time will tell.

8 Jardin Rouge (Bet Now: $9.50) has been pretty good this prep for Brian Wakefield without winning. Ran over this track/distance two weeks ago and seemed to get her chance but battled away pretty well when fourth to Gypsy Toff. I think she’s knocking on the door to win one. IMO, best chance will be if ridden cold and launching late.

4 I’ve Gotta Nel (Bet Now: $10.00) isn’t far off a win for Barry Lockwood. Had the A1 run in transit two weeks ago over 1050m here and was there to win. Just couldn’t quite finish it off when a close up fourth to One Stryke. Yet to win at the trip, but with a soft run near the speed, he could be very dangerous and prove hard to get past.
