11/12/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot, Towton Cup day

The Ascot Carnival continues on Saturday where it is Towton Cup Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

4 Queen Of Soul (Bet Now: $3.20) looks a talented mare for Simon Miller that has returned in super order. Resumed a few weeks ago at Belmont when wide with cover before peeling wider into clear air and charged late to win well. She’s got room for improvement and finds a winnable Saturday race.

8 Western Rhythm (Bet Now: $3.90) doesn’t have the best of winning stroke rates but is certainly capable. Resumed last Wednesday at Belmont and you could easily make a case to say she should have won had she got clear air in the straight, savaging the line late to just miss. Better luck and she can win.

6 Looksnoteverything (Bet Now: $91.00) gets good weight relief here and is a sneaky first four chance at a big price. Resumed at Belmont when wide throughout and failed to come on. I doubt she’s good enough to win, but I’d say she’s one for multiples.

4 Rockin Rupert (Bet Now: $2.30) rises a fair bit in grade/depth but he does look a promising animal for the Casey camp. Debuted a few weeks back over 1000m at Belmont where sustained speed from near the front came to the fore and he was a sharp winner, running good time. Confident he can measure up here.

1 He’s A Sizzler (Bet Now: $3.70) is better suited over a bit further but he does have somewhat of a class edge and that will carry him a long way here. Resumes for Dan Morton, having not raced since September 4 when a game second to Trix Of The Trade. Just one trial to get ready but class alone might get him home.

3 Wuhan Warrior (Bet Now: $8.00) can bounce back from the first up run. That came behind Rockin Rupert at Belmont when wide no cover and that early burn just told late. Better luck this time around, an improved showing is on the cards.

4 Beads (Bet Now: $1.95) has returned in good order. Steve Wolfe trained three year old that has finished behind The Front Bar in both runs back from a break, the latest run seeing him beaten a lip a fortnight back here, looking home but was bloused on the peg. Hard fit now, he’ll take beating.

9 Ultimate Command (Bet Now: $7.50) is the interesting runner. Ran here two weeks ago where she was tardy away and just run off her legs throughout when down the track behind The Front Bar. If she settle like normal, near the speed, her best is good enough.

2 Zetorio (Bet Now: $15.00) is a Roy Rogers trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t raced since March 20 when far from disgraced over the mile here behind That’s Funny Az. Resumes without a trial but first up in town tells me he’s here to run well, so watch the market.

5 God Has Chosen (Bet Now: $1.50) looks an above average customer for Lindsey Smith. Should have won two back when pipped late by La Farola. Backed up a week later and despite sitting wide no cover for the trip, class came to the fore and he was miles too good. 1500m should be fine and is hard to beat here.

3 Fangio (Bet Now: $5.50) is a quality mare for Roy Rogers that resumes. This mare had a two run prep in the early part of the Spring, winning fresh before running third to a handy horse in Mr Delegator. Resumes without a trial but 1500m fresh tells me she’s ready to go.

8 Mr Mt Walker (Bet Now: $21.00) is a second up winner and I think is in with a shout. Resumed over 1400m here two weeks back where he was trucking in the run and for a stride or two, loomed to win, but first up, condition just gave way late. Might want one more but the resumption was encouraging.

4 Proconsent (Bet Now: $1.85) looks to be a different horse since joining Adam Durrant. Game second to Comfort Me two back before racing over this track/distance three weeks ago where he was smashed in betting and under a confident steer from Pike, he made a mess of them. He can go on with it now.

5 Superior Smile (Bet Now: $23.00) is third up, getting towards peak fitness and commands respect. Needed the run fresh behind Beret before going to the Bella’s Idol race where he got the suck run behind the speed and was close up in defeat in running third. Hard fit now, he can win this.

Fitter and up to the mile are two big ticks for 7 Harry Thomas (Bet Now: $23.00). Down the track two back behind Kissonallforcheeks before being given a let up. Ran over 1400m here when on speed and condition just blew out late behind Beret. Fitter, extra trip, he can be dangerous.

Fresh legs and back to 1400m are two big ticks for 4 Secret Statue (Bet Now: $11.00). Five weeks between runs since racing over the mile here where he had a suck run behind the speed and tried hard. Just couldn’t quite get there when fourth to Big Screen. His best is certainly good enough to take this out.

11 Winsalot (Bet Now: $20.00) has found winning form. Can she go on with it now? Hadn’t done much in a little while but she dug in when required to win last time out at Northam under Chris Parnham, who remains on for here. The race isn’t strong so she doesn’t need to improve too much.

2 Crescent City (Bet Now: $11.00) is better suited over further but he does have a decent engine under the hood and is in the right camp. Resumed over 1200m here three weeks and just looked in need of the run behind La Farola. The trial at Lark Hill leading in was good so he can run a much improved race.

1 Zephyr Queen (Bet Now: $17.00) is a quality mare for Jim Taylor that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since the Winter when a tiring last at Belmont behind subsequent Stakes winner Kaptain Kaos. Two trials to get ready have been just fair but she does seem more of a raceday animal so watch the market.

10 Billy Ray (Bet Now: $10.00) is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness. Good late fresh behind Wilchino. Then last time out, he had a good run in transit but just whacked away behind La Farola. This race looks well within reach if he brings his best.

12 Island Charm (Bet Now: $3.10) has only won the two races but she is an honest mare for Roy Rogers that is rarely far away from the action. Ran over this track/distance three weeks back when wide no cover but stayed on and was really good in defeat. If that hasn’t busted her, she’ll take beating here.

13 Pure Devotion (Bet Now: $2.50) is pressing claims for a Perth Cup berth so I’m keen to see how she goes at this level. Three weeks between runs since Pike got the best out of her to win at this track/distance, driving hard late. Form out of that race was franked last Saturday and she is a mare in form as well as hard fit.

4 Marocchino (Bet Now: $5.50) is finding positive form at the right time. Jury was out early on in the prep but he bounced back to his best with a strong on speed win in the JRA Trophy. Should get a lovely run in transit from the draw and now he’s found positive form, he can hold it.

14 Stafford’s Lad (Bet Now: $16.00) is ticking along nicely towards the Perth Cup. He caught the eye late in the JRA Trophy. Took a while to get into his work but was good late when third. Getting towards peak fitness in readiness for the feature race and I think has to be respected here.

12 My Fair Valentine (Bet Now: $11.00) is three weeks between runs after racing at this track/distance on Railway Day and was a real eye catcher from near last in the run when third to Expressionist. Good return to positive form for her and if she can build off that, she’s hard to beat.

10 Bragwell (Bet Now: $4.80) has been a real model of consistency this time in for Steve Wolfe. Only problem is he hasn’t been winning. Ran over the mile last Saturday here and closed off powerfully from off the speed when a narrow third to Memorable Miss. Up to 1800m looks ideal and is a key threat.

8 Fairy Fast (Bet Now: $10.00) is on the quick back up for Team Williams after racing on Sunday in the Grandstand Cup at Pinjarra when wide no cover for the trip but despite that hard run, she stuck on really well. If that hasn’t busted her, she’ll be around the mark.
