The Adelaide Carnival wraps up this Saturday at Morphettville, highlighted by the Group l Goodwood (1200m). The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres from the 1200m-Winning Post; Out two metres for the remainder.

12 Wine Barron (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top in the opener. Michael Hickmott trained gelding that is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over the mile here where he seemed to have his chance but that said, he lost crucial momentum at a key stage so forgive and forget. Jockey upgrade IMO and up in trip, he’ll do me.

3 Magnetic Edge (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes through the Regal Azmon race from a fortnight back. He got a fair way out of his ground and made up some ground without threatening. Back to this level, he is certainly good enough to threaten.

9 Dolcemente (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip and a massive drop in grade/depth after racing over the mile in an open handicap two weeks back where she was back near last in the run and made up minimal headwya behind Regal Azmon. Better set up here for her, she can take this out at a price.

1 Sir Now (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since racing at Oakbank where I am not sure he was entirely happy on the track but he stayed on and was sound in defeat behind Up The Den. Bigger track, Blinkers back on, he takes beating.

2 Immortal Bliss (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will welcome the massive drop in grade/depth after racing in the Tobin Bronze when outclassed, finishing down the track behind Reserve Bank. Back to benchmark grade, he’s a definite improver.

6 Sav On Ice (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the way I am leaning. Darryl Carrison trained three year old that resumes, having not raced since Nov 5 here over 1200m when giving them a start and a beating, letting down with purpose late to win. 1050m is on the short side for him but he should be strong late and has talent.

5 Salty Pearl (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has returned well and is a key chance after resuming at Bendigo in the Gold Rush. She got back off the speed but got clear late and charged in the straight when second to Killiana. The gate is tricky but she looks above average.

4 Steel Trap (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks hard to beat after a first up second in the Breeders two weeks ago when on speed and she tried hard but had no answers late for impressive winner Legacy Bound. Better for the run and there is no Legacy Bound here. Hard to beat.

2 Sir Myka (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes to town for Travis Doudle after a debut win at Murray Bridge when on speed throughout and credit to her, she was there to be beaten but she found under pressure to fend them off and score. Good racing style it appears and 1200m suits.

5 She’s A Hustler (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs for Grahame Begg since a win over 2100m at Sandown where she had somewhat of a struggle but class kicked in and she was much too good in the run to the line. Good test here at Stakes level, but I will say it’s not a deep Stakes race and hard to knock the way she’s racing.

2 Private Legacy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was beaten a lip in the Oaks last year so she has the class/quality to threaten. She ran in the Queen Of The South a fortnight back over the mile here where she got back to near last in the run and although she did make up ground, she was never really a threat behind Zloties. She was a few weeks between runs so up to 2000m now, I wouldn’t dismiss her.

1 Dashing Duchess (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an interesting runner. She is several weeks between runs since racing in the Yarra Valley Cup at Moonee Valley where she was off speed and seemed to have her chance but was a bit on the plain side late in the piece behind Basilinna. The break between runs I find interesting but her best is clearly good enough.

10 Pelevecchio (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a filly I have plenty of time for and I think she’ll eat up 2500m here. She comes through the Oaks from two week ago where she got back to near last in the run, was out wide, and while she was never a winning threat, she did make up good headway in defeat. 2500m looks ideal and the depth here is nownere near as deep.

3 Chase Your Dreams (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for Team Hayes. She won on Good Friday at Echuca and yes, she didn’t beat much, but the way she put them away and how strong she was in the run to the line was sharp. Progressive, I think she can measure up.

8 Wolfess (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in with a shout for Greg Eurell after racing in the Oaks. She got into a decent spot in transit just off the speed and presented to be some sort of threat on the turn but just couldn’t quite finish the race off. Not sure I could back her to win but a must for exotics.

7 Nonconformist (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks ready to run really well first up for Grahame Begg. He resumes, having not raced since the Rosehill Gold Cup where he seemed to have his chance. That said, he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Fawkner Park. His trial/jumpout work has been strong and he does have class on his side.

2 Arran Bay (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one of the key chances. He ran over this track/distance two weeks ago when off speed before being angled wider and finished off strongly but just missed out on the win when nabbed on the peg by stablemate Regal Azmon. Racing well, bursting to win, he’s hard to beat.

3 Chicago Storm (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the one with upside. He was enormous in defeat behind Regal Azmon given he did the early work to land on speed and he was entitled to knock right up but he stayed on, only getting bloused late. If that hasn’t busted him, he appeals.

14 Scillato (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a filly who looks loaded with talent and keen on her chances. She ran in the Don Casboult at The Valley last time when I am not sure she was 100% happy being inside horses and on that very shifty track so forgive and forget behind Clean Energy. Drawn wide, she’ll get room to move and launch late.

5 New York Lustre (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is progressive and heading in the right direction. She resumed over 1000m at The Valley where she was keen in behind the speed before angling clear and despite being out of tickets late, class kicked in and she was too good. Good test here, but think she can measure up.

1 See You In Heaven (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable with her best. She resumed in the Sangster two weeks back where she got back in the run and was never really a factor when down the track behind Charm Stone. Her best is certainly good enough so don’t dismiss her.

7 Giga Kick (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the best horse in the race, by some distance, and even if he’s not 100%, he just looks to have lengths on these. He resumes, having not raced since the Champions Sprint when far from disgraced in defeat behind Sunshine In Paris, getting back and making up some ground, which followed a narrow second in The Everest. Jumpout work has been strong and has a clear class edge.

1 Charm Stone (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a super winner of the Robert Sangster first up. She got a good trailing draw into the race before Zahra angled wider and she let down with very good change up speed to win and win well. Job done, but she commands respect being a last start Group l winner.

3 Sghirripa (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found positive form and can certainly maintain it. They rode with intent in the Irwin a few weeks back, leading, and he gave a strong kick from the front, but had no answers late for the finale of class mare Asfoora. Off that effort, he can run top four.

5 Beauty Rising (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for me in the get out. Phillip Stokes trained mare that won two weeks ago here, leading throughout and she gave nothing else a look in, winning impressively. Tricky draw, but will press forward and take running down.

10 Sachem (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key threat. He ran behind Beauty Rising a fortnight back at Morphettville where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and was pretty good late in the piece. If he can settle closer in the run and be within range, he can win.

11 Classy Kenny (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran fourth to Beauty Rising two weeks back and was pretty good in defeat. He was back, wide with cover, and tried hard, but just couldn’t quite see it through. That said, he was far from disgraced in defeat. If he can get a drag into the race, he can launch late.

BEST BET: Race Eight Number 7 Giga Kick

NEXT BEST: Race Four Number 5 She’s A Hustler

LONG SHOT: Race Seven Number 14 Scillato
